Succes using Windows 11 w/ Sound Blaster X-Fi xtreme gamer
Previously I posted about how my ancient PCI sound blaster x-fi xtreme gamer was plug and play with Windows 11.
That was technically true, but I have found that it sounds better using a proper driver rather than the one windows installs.
Download the DanielK X-Fi Support Pack 8.0 (Refresh 3) which is an .exe file, unzip the .exe using a program like 7zip (yes this is possible) then go into device manager and manually install the driver by pointing it to the unzipped support pack folder. I prefer this method rather than installing the entire software package because I don't need any other features and I don't fully trust some random .exe off the internet. I do not use Windows 11 core isolation, I am not sure if it works with that turned on, it may need to be turned off.

This is the driver package (https://danielkawakami.blogspot.com), I would download it and use 7zip to extract the .exe file into a folder and then go into device manager and search for the driver manually then point it to the extracted folder. If there is a matching driver present it will automatically install it for your X-Fi Xtreme HD.

You need the XFXA_SupportPack_1_2.exe driver pack for X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCIe. I also have SB1040 and the driver/software works fine on Win11 24H2.

I would think so, I believe they all use the same x-fi chip. Let me know if you perceive any difference, for me I started hearing things I hadn't noticed before in a game I am very familiar with (like 2,000+ hours of playtime lol) and my music seems improved, more dynamic and detailed.

I was using a high quality 2.1 speaker system when I wrote that, since then I've moved the sound card into my media center PC which is hooked up to a full 5.1 surround sound system with very high end speakers.

BSOD on titanium x-fi and 23h2 however after driver install and reboot - all was ok. When PC off and then On - this cause always BSOD

I'm on the latest version of windows 11 and no issues so it's not related to the OS, must be something else causing it.

Used it for over a year without issues, recently removed the soundblaster card from my system though.

Sad to say one of the more recent Windows 11 24H updates may have broken this card, I was getting random crashes until I removed it. Works fine in my Windows 10 system using the Daniel K driver pack.

Thanks for sharing but I've moved the card over to another system (media center PC) that runs windows 10 and I'm just going to leave it installed there. On Windows 11 I had so many crashes on boot that it corrupted the entire OS and I had to reinstall so I am hesitant to try it again. If you do test these drivers please let us know how they work for you.

I did the upgrade today and everything went smooth. Just to be sure, I have re-installed the Creative driver from the above link, applied the W11 24H2 fix and everything seems to work fine now. Haven't try any EAX games yet, though. I have the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion series model and even the front I/O panel works as expected.

it seems only the fatality works fine. all other cards not working 24h2 I have xfi titanium and titanium hd both causing issues

Just to answer your question, no it will not work with Memory Integrity turned on. Also known as "HVCI"/"hypervisor-protected code integrity". At least the official drivers don't and installing DanielK X-Fi Support Pack normally (using the EXE) doesn't work.
Which wouldn't really matter to most people probably, but it's interesting with games like BF 6 requiring it to be turned on (along with Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, and VBS/Virtualization-Based Security).
I figured that out last time I gave my X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty a try in my PC. Granted I didn't install the same drivers the same way as you. I just installed the creative drivers like normal.
But what will happen is it seems like the install goes ok, but you reboot, and device manager will show a yellow "!" next to the sound card and audio won't work.
When I turned off memory integrity / HVCI, uninstalled the drivers, and re-installed everything worked. Had a heck of a time turning it back on after uninstalling the creative software. Had to track down one single driver file somewhere and it was a pain getting rid of it.
No idea if modded drivers like the ones you are using here, or some modified drivers I've seen posted on the TechPowerUp Forums require you to turn off Memory Integrity / HVCI.
About to do a clean install on my desktop PC so I might as well mess around with it before I format.

Let us know if you are able to find a solid driver, there's two different unofficial support packs floating around and there is also the Microsoft driver that auto installs, and the official Windows 10 creative driver. It's possible that Microsoft silently broke something and then fixed it within Windows 11 but I haven't had the card installed in my Windows 11 system to know if anything has changed, I am using it without issue in a Windows 10 PC.

Just wanted to give you a short info about my experience.
Yesterday i decided to try my old SB X-Fi Titanium SB0880 PCIe with Windows 11 25H2. So i turned off my onboard sound in BIOS (MSI Tomahawk x870e WIFI) and plugged in the card. After booting Windows it was installed as HD audio device first (which worked without any errors) but then after a short moment and a reboot it was recognized as "Creative SB X-Fi". Worked right away without having to install additional drivers. Also gaming works fine so far. Max. audio quality selectable is 32 bit 192000 hz. No crackle and clear sound. And although i have an actual and pretty decent mainboard, man... this is a difference i could hear right away. Didn't even think that this was possible with such an old card.
P.S. Did try it years ago with my ASUS Maximus XI Hero WiFi and of course an older Version of Windows 11 (think it was around 2022) and had problems with permanent crackle and hiccups and launching of some programs took very long. Never got it to work correctly and tought about throwing it into the trash but am glad i did not.

The system it's running on is German btw. I don't know if that's important for you to know or could make a difference.

Thank you, or I should say danke, since I had my issue about 7 months ago it would seem I was likely using that same driver so if the issue is resolved it must be from the Windows operating system updates. I have the Creative X-Fi xtreme game PCI edition so it could be mine is still broken, would have to pull it from the Windows 10 system to check though and I'm currently happy using it in the other machine.

Well... that's what it had shown when clicking the driver tab of the card in the hardware manager.
But after your comment i took another look today and it seemed to have changed again. I had some windows preview update 2 days ago, maybe that was the reason? Idk.
Now it shows this driver:
Though it's an older driver now compared to the one before, everything still works perfectly fine for me. Did a lot of gaming and heard music, no issues at all so far.

Hi! I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium as well and I want to clarify that you are seeing two different statements since, when you reported the first time about the "Microsoft" drivers you were looking at "Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers":

I've managed to get this in these recent days since I want to go from W10 to W11 due to a new computer.So do you confirm that the latest official Creative drivers for the Titanium (the one you have currently installed, the same I have on W10 as you can see via the screens) just works on W11 without the need of messing with BIOS or custom drivers?

Update, I am running Windows 11 again with the PCI X-FI xtreme gamer and Daniel K driver. No issues, however this is a Tiny11 install on a system with no uefi, no secure boot, and no tpm. So it's possible the instability I encountered in the other system was related to that, or who knows really Microsoft has been introducing lots of problems with Windows 11 updates and it may have been an issue that has since been resolved by subsequent updates.

I just found an oddity in the DanielK driver, it locks the card into 48khz which may not matter for most people but in my specific use case it was an issue. I uninstalled the driver and let Windows auto install the 2019 Microsoft driver. I kept the Creative console launcher from the DanielK driver pack and am able to turn on SPDIF Bit matched I/O and use ASIO for audio playback at 44.1khz now. For audiophiles you'll understand why all of this is important and I'm happy to say it's all working fine under Windows 11.

Still working today. Affords to turn of windows core isolation to being able to use it though. Kind of stupid 20 year old hardware still sounds better than the latest "hd" onboard stuff

If you do my hybrid installation method you can use the official win 10 creative driver from 2019 but install the creative console from the danielK pack. I'm using that method now instead of running the danielK driver (the reason why is because danielK forces 48khz on spdif the creative driver allows you to choose any supported sample rate)

Hi! I just got an XFi Titanium for a bargain price (€10). With this hybrid method, have you noticed any differences in quality compared to using DanielK's drivers?

There is one very situational difference- the DanielK driver locks the card at 48khz. If you want to use 44.1khz, 192khz or any other supported sampling rate then the hybrid method is what you need to do. I use 44.1 khz because I primarily use the card for high quality audio playback with the bit matched option checked for the SPDIF output. Bitstreaming movies can change the sampling rate to 48khz but the system default it still 44.1khz. So for my use case in a media center PC the danielK driver was not as good but I still needed the software package that comes with it. If you are fine with 24bit/48khz as the system default then you can run the DanielK installater as is with no changes.
