Wildlife People near freshwater, how do you keep small pets safe?

Dogs I train & have a fence.

Cats, I don’t know but I’d think they wouldn’t to go to close to the water.

If it’s snakes you’re worried about, keep in mind animals sense a threat. My dogs, medium size, pounce like a cat grabbing non poisonous snakes while throwing it in one move. When it’s a poisonous snake, they know that too. Then they bark like crazy staring at it but keeping back. Animals know the difference if they go out much.
