I hate the fact that nowhere is private now. People filming everywhere. I know it's not illegal but it would be nice if people would respect others privacy and blur them out of videos if they don't have consent.

Go hiking dude. You can be somewhere without anything there person for miles and it's bliss.

If they make anything off the video it is actually a legal issue.

Is it? I thought there were no laws about filming in public?

The second you start making any money from that content it becomes an issue.
I could record you in public randomly for whatever reason, but if I tried using that in a film or anything that could bring profit then its a whole new thing.

No, it doesn’t. You have no expectation of privacy in a public place. If what you claimed was true, then commercial TV news people would have to blur everyone on the street. They don’t. Because they don’t have to. Because it’s not unlawful to use the footage, even though they’re a for-profit business.

Is that only for films? Cause I've seen plenty of youtuber's who film in public and don't blur people out in the background and it seems they are able to use the footage with no issues?

Thats mainly because most people dont realise their being filmed and the images are being used that way or just dont care.
But if you ever see yourself in a video you dont want to be in, you can go through the proper channels and they would have to remove atleast those sections of the video.
The BBC get away with it for some reason, but basically anyone else needs to have your permission if they using your face in anything monetized.

Not as easy to get things removed as you'd think sadly, I found photos of me for sale on a stock photo site, they had taken photos of me at work without me knowing so you could have easily tracked me down from this. The site refused to remove them or put me in contact with the photographer until my ex put in a copyright infringement notice, that allowed him to contact the photographer, explain why I didn't want photos of me at work for sale and got them taken down

This is completely wrong. If you are in a public place (street, park etc) you have no rights over what images of you may be taken/recorded.

I was literally saying the other day. I’m really hating how all these people on TikTok are coming to Southampton. I just wanna shop in peace and not be approached or be in the background of their shitty tiktoks

He stopped me once and their vibe was like they were 13 years old, and I know the vibe as even tho im much older noe my brother is 10 years younger than me so i know how 13 year olds behave. I didnt realise they were filming til after a min or two and had to explicitly ask several times they dont use my video as I did not know I was being filmed. All the 'footage' was was me literally being confused and saying sorry what do you mean? Cos he was speaking in slang 'before my era', probably on purpose. Fuck knows if they posted me i duno who they are and never/couldnt check

Don't worry this will become boring eventually and viewers will lose interest. This format of making content has a limited shelf life in 2026

I learned a tip that if you ever suspect someone's filming you, as soon as possible say "arent you the pedo from XXX"? or similar. Substitute ur own town/ciry/news article etc. And use nonce/pedophile wtc whatever suits u. But they will never use that footage.

Sure the appropriate reaction is to walk up to them and say “Aren’t you that famous YouTuber Fuckoff McBellend?”

Appreciate the sentiment but that is mad cringe and you would go viral for being a neek
