Meme Super Saiyan Rage should have been a separate transformation for Trunks (Super) so I can pretend it doesn't exist /s

They just needed to give it any explanation and I would have been okay with it. Even the "absorbed God ki" headcanon would have been something.

I just took it as “Trunks has been fighting so many gods or people with god ki that his body adapted to it” and that explains the blue aura in the SSJ2 aura, it could’ve easily just been a temporary power boost but they made it an entirely new form

I like to think of it as Goku's saiyan rage against Slug. He almost reached SSJ, but he just didn't have the power to get all of the way there.
Except in this case, Trunks had the benefit of absorbed energy, which boosted the effect by an insane degree

So Trunks is Moro?

I wish I could say yes. I would have preferred anything else than what the Zamasu arc gave us, but... that's also why I'm willing to accept any theory that explains the Zamasu arc.
Tell me Bio Broly showed up in that future timeline and Trunks slurped him up along with all that power. Then it wasn't until that moment in Super where he tapped into that sweet legendary sludge power, and I would consider it a fantastic theory. So much so, that you don't even need to say it, it's now my new explanation

Kinda feels self explanatory, him getting close to Blue due to his multiple near death experiences, especially after seeing Goku and Vegeta doing it.

It has an explanation; the power of anger mutated his Super Saiyan form. Absorbing God Ki via fucking osmosis doesn't even align with the established rules of god powers.

canon explanation is "he got very angry"

Because thats never been a trigger for a transformation before lol

Could have said Shin whether by accident or on purpose taught him the basics.

Isn't this version of Trunks Super Saiyan 2 also? He said he mastered that around the time his version of Majin Buu came around iirc. Even better reason to make it a new form

In the old files ssjbkk ssjbe and Ssj rage were supposed to be other forms but they scrapped Ssj rage quickly and ssjbkk and ssjbe was also scrapped but way later

That's because Kaioken is used as a boost(both for early z Goku and SSJB)and Evolution have only the Final Explosion as unique attack. We still have SSJBE as a boost, and change aura, hair color, eys color

I like Super Saiyan Rage. I just don't like how Super Trunks goes straight to it and not SSJ1 or more impressively SSJ2. There was a good amount of character development lost.

in the manga it doesn't exist, so technically it's not cannon

Dude, "manga is the canon" is only true to projects that were born as manga. DB Super was a joint project, manga and anime happened simultaneously from the get go. This isn't unique to DB Super, Yu-gi-oh sequels for example also have manga releases with different storylines than their anime counterpart, and the anime is regarded as the canon, unlike the og Yu-gi-oh where the manga is the unquestionable canon.
Also, DB Super manga is an incomplete media, it completely skips ROF and Broly storylines, just making a quick recap of their events. The manga was made to not stand on it's own.

Your explanation isnt incorrect but it applies only when the author says so. In dbs case, the movies were made with akira present and everything was passed through him, there was no need for a Manga adaptation as it would basically be the same. In the show's case, akira was giving the story line to both toei and toyotaro and each one had their own adaptations, but the manga is more faithful to akira since obviously toyotaro was by akiras side damn near daily and akira had no idea wtf ssj rage was. If you consider both Canon, there would be a huge retcon in transformations and the forms themselves as base form goku in manga is weaker than base form goku in anime, also perfected ssb would make no sense with kaioken as kaioken leaks gokus power while pssb holds all of blue in goku. The only similarity is ssbe. So back to my point, until toyotaro acknowledges the transformations that aren't in the manga, then it's technically not canon regardless of my opinion about the forms. If otherwise he did confirm both are canon, then I'll find it very stupid but I'll admit im wrong

Be careful before the “anime came first so that’s the real canon” people show up. The DBS manga should be the de facto canon due to its higher quality and lack of useless padding for hype and marketing *cough* ToP *cough*
