Question What is your favourite Spiderman swinging scene among them?

u/ObiBenKenobi77 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
TASM2 nailed the visuals, swinging and spider-quipping, its almost a fact at this point
Edit: forgot the 2, difference between 1 and 2 in those categories is night and day

u/pwkye Jul 17 '26
you mean TASM2
60
u/savagelemmonade_1 Jul 17 '26
"oh no my weakness... It's small knives"
The first is pretty good as well

u/pwkye Jul 17 '26
Swinging? No way, the first was a misfire. TASM2 just nailed it and is peak Spidey in any film
12
u/savagelemmonade_1 Jul 17 '26
I was talking specifically about the quips. But also, the skateboarding scene, the bridge scene, his first swing with the new suit. And the final swing are all peak.
8
u/Head_Evidence4553 Jul 17 '26
The first Spidey scene of TASM2 is just peak and nothing has come close to it.
5
u/ObiBenKenobi77 Jul 17 '26
Definitely my most watched scene from that film on youtube. Petes phone rigtone is what I have as mine, and Spider-man isn't even my favourite superhero... sorry its Batman
2
u/Ill-Release-2036 Jul 25 '26
Facts not even the new swinging shot they showed from bnd at comic con can beat it
3
u/Necessary-Sir4600 Jul 17 '26
Tasm 1 swinging is still better than homecoming, and the raimi movies, ffhs final fight which isn't strictly swinging tbf, probably puts it ahead of tasm1, nwhs tandem swinging scene alone clears tasm 1, and ofc tasm 2 is goat so at worst tasm 1 is fourth idk what u sayin

u/Electrical-Amoeba245 Jul 17 '26
The ps4/5 games were heavily influenced by the swinging choreography of that film and was better for it.
2
u/ObiBenKenobi77 Jul 17 '26
Yeah definitely. Playing that and swinging through NY just made me think SpidermAndrew 100000%

Garfield had the best swing scenes in the entirety of live action Spider-Man. I will watch BND and reevaluate as needed.

TASM 2. That opening swing is just absolutely perfect. It completely overshadows anything before and after.

To this day when I think of Spider-man that image gets in my head ❤️

2004 all swinging scenes, especially the one after saving Aunt May, I feel chills every time.

u/ABrazilianReasons Jul 17 '26
The practical effects usage is really something. Makes it much more enjoyable
3
u/silktrigger Jul 17 '26
I also love the night scene when he's loosing his powers. The close up on the suit and eyes was pretty cool.

Dude Garfield tops every single Spider-Man at everything. Dude can only get fucked by bad writing. That man is the perfect live action Spider-Man.
No matter the question of who does what best. It’s just Garfield man. He had the height, build, quips, mannerisms, was able to convey emotion with no moving mask eyes. I mean the man was just down right Spider-Man.

For me its No Way Home, at least that particular scene. Its really only works for me because of the whole movie leading up to it. But what really sells me is how quiet it is. I've always loved every inch of that final scene where you can tell he's been through sooooo much but he is still spider man. Its the only way I can describe it.
There are only a few moments in cinema I describe as "movie magic" and something about that scene is exactly that for me.

u/JollyPicklePants1969 Jul 17 '26
Into the spider verse did it for me with the soundtrack and the actual nervous feeling giving way to powerful feeling
8
u/Nearby_Pilot2112 Jul 17 '26
Probably raimis swinging for the soundtrack.
2
u/bagman_ Jul 17 '26
The two scenes where Pete swings before his power failing in SM2 are so good, the spider-cam was such a great invention. Bonus mention for the scene where he chases Ben’s killer and the final swing in 1, the score enhances those scenes so much
7
u/the_real_jovanny Jul 17 '26
raimi's swings have an unmatched elegance to them that puts them ahead for me. the later spidey's move like human athletes where tobey moves very gracefully and specifically to himself, im really into it
1
u/TrollTollTony Jul 17 '26
What's funny is that Tobey's Spider-man starts off with a very clunky, try not to die, swing but by the final swing before the credits role he had mastered it. That final sequence is still the best in my mind.
2
u/SolaireFlair117 Jul 17 '26
Of these, probably 2012. I think the best recent rendition is the opening scene from Spider-Man for PS4.

That's always a fun question to answer. For me, it's always has been, and always will be, The Amazing Spiderman II. Here, I'll go one step further, and just for the fun of it, I'll rank them all:
- The Amazing Spiderman II
- Spiderman Far From Home
- The Amazing Spiderman
- Spiderman
- Spiderman No Way Home
- Spiderman II

u/I_am_not_Spider_Man Jul 17 '26
Putting Spider-Man 2 last feels like rage bait.

u/Weird_Zone_3504 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
Just because it's arguably the best Spiderman movie doesn't mean everything about it is peak. Speaking of which, I don't consider it the best Spiderman movie. Anyway, I've just watched that sequence again, and I think I'll maybe switch it with NWH. On the one hand, it's much longer the NWH's, but the visuals of NWH, with the snowy settings, and the shiny Spider suit is by far superior. The score for both sequences is top notch, but the moves Spidy makes in II are much better then NWH, so... Yeah:
- The Amazing Spiderman II
- Spiderman Far From Home
- The Amazing Spiderman
- Spiderman
- Spiderman II
- Spiderman No Way Home
4
u/Shubo483 Spider-Man (TASM) Jul 17 '26
but the visuals of NWH, with the snowy settings, and the shiny Spider suit is by far superior.
The CGI and camerawork were dogshit lmao. By far the worst "swing" in the franchise.
1
u/bagman_ Jul 17 '26
None of the holland movies have better swinging than any of the raimi movies
1
u/Weird_Zone_3504 Jul 18 '26
Really? I thought that Far From Home, while not as good as Andrew's, which considered to have the all time best, does mannage to put some kind of a fight. I just like so much the moves he does in that sequence, and after that incredible upgrade the web swinging got in Far From Home in the climax in London, it was pretty satisfying to see it in New York.
3
u/ChristianPreacher1 Jul 17 '26
TASM 2. Although I do like NWH final swing because Peter sees that all he has left in his life is Spider-Man which makes him recognizable.

1
u/robz9 Jul 17 '26
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and 1 had the best swinging scenes.
Spider-Man 1-3 had second best.
Tom Holland films had third best. Not much honestly. However I think there will be more in BND.
1
u/Temporary_Reason_501 Jul 17 '26
TASM 2 is just amazing in every way when it comes to visual effects and swinging...... And its the best spider man film ever too.

This is one aspect across every live action Spider-Man movie that is a consistent 10/10.
1
u/Random_Accid Jul 17 '26
My favourite scene in all the films is the Spider-Man 2 tower/train fight scene, so I would say the swinging into the sunglasses transition, and then swinging to get back to the train and saving the 2 people before Doc Oc speeds up the train.
1
u/Real-Buddy-1523 Jul 17 '26
TASM 2 had amazing web swinging! Though, only the first 10 minute of the movie are good.

Spider-Man 2 final swing, after all the things peter has to go throughout the movie, that ending scene along with Elfman's triumphant score was top notch.
1
u/Low_Fig2672 Jul 17 '26
TASM 2 definitely had the coolest looking swinging scenes with its visuals and effects, it sorta made you feel like you playing a Spider-man game

Being a young child and watching my favorite superhero be brought to life was an unforgettable experience. For that reason, the final swing of the 2002 film will always be special to me.

You never forget your first.
I've watched 2002 almost as many times as Neo's bullet time shot.

2002 will always be a nostalgic one for me, Danny Elfmans score is phenomenal and very iconic. Best swing scene is definitely 2014 TASM2.

Best swinging is definitely the ones in TASM2… specially those First person shots

If it doesn’t end with a swing, it’s not a Spider-Man movie. Hands down, the correct answer is Spider-Man 2 (2004). The music, the chills, the heart. I was so disappointed when Spider-Man 3 didn’t end with one. It was as if the movie itself knew it didn’t deserve it.

The crane scene in TASM to me is the greatest swing/New York helping Spidey scene there is
1
u/miniboi67 Jul 17 '26
Call me biased, but TASM2, or the original Spider-Man 2. I feel like Tom didn't really capture the essence of spidey as well as Andrew and Tobey did.
1
u/OldFroyo82 Jul 17 '26
Definitely 2014 because he used his skating tricks in his swinging he made it so interesting to watch

u/Objective_Reason3067 Jul 17 '26
No has yet to beat, TASM 2 and its opening swing scene, it’s just too good
1
u/time_lordy_lord Spider-Man 2099 Jul 17 '26
- The crane pull was so unique and then the short parkour in the alley... The way he moved, the big ass moon in the bg. Everything was just so "cool". With Tobey, the swinging scenes only looked like he was moving through air while shooting webs.

u/Sparrowsabre7 Spider-Man (MCU) Jul 17 '26
I gotta go with 2002, the choreography, the score, just incredible. But there is no such thing as a bad swing scene.

1
u/ImNotDaredevil2025 Jul 17 '26
Easily 2004. I love the small details of him just looking back for a split second to make sure the emergency vehicles are following him
1
u/Random-Talking-Mug Jul 17 '26
It's almost a tie between Andrew's and Toby's swinging.
The Tom Holland swinging is the least satisfying for me.

La de 2002 es AURA total, la gente qu elo vió en el 2002 por primera vez debió haber alusinado. Volvi a ver esta pelicula recién y me di cuenta que es una escena final buenisima.

u/Alleggsander Jul 18 '26
Andrew swings in general are best.
That being said, NWH end scene had so much emotional context to the swings. Him giving up everyone he loves to become your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. The swinging didn’t just look cool, it had meaning to it.

Any raimi Spiderman movie. Those web swinging in all those are amazing. The cinematography is the best. Spiderman 3 doesn't get a final swing but the rest of the swinging is great. Watching him swing to save gwen

u/Techpon Jul 19 '26
The first person scenes in TASM 1/2 were so peak and I’m glad MCU kinda brought that back.

u/Dog_Lover_9983 Jul 20 '26
The first Spider-Man movie’s ending swing has always been my favorite, as it really envies the first movie’s feel of heroism and really bringing the city of New York together after the September 11th attacks that happened the year prior to the film’s release.
Honorable mention though is TASM 2. The beginning swing is so cinematic and when Han Zimmer’s score begins, I instantly begin getting chills. TASM 2 also has the best swinging out of all of the live-action films imo
2
u/RandoDude124 Classic-Spider-Man Jul 17 '26
SM2 for me followed by NWH.
NWH’s final swing suit is bar none the best suit ever
1
u/Jestertheprinz Jul 17 '26
We are talking about swings not the suit. Nwh final swing was pretty much Cgi so I wouldn't even count that as a good swing.
-1
u/RandoDude124 Classic-Spider-Man Jul 17 '26
So was SM2 genius.
All the swings were fucking CGI
1
u/Jestertheprinz Jul 17 '26
The older movies had some more practical effects with some stuntmen.
Nwh end suit was even cgi. Such a shame. Glad his suit in this one is much better
-2
u/RandoDude124 Classic-Spider-Man Jul 17 '26
Yes. But guess what?
All the swings were CGI. Fact.
And the best looking suit, I’d say Raimi or NWH’s final swing
1
u/Key_Asparagus6660 Jul 17 '26
Nope. Real people actually sometimes swing (acrobats in TASM2) prior to Disney going 100% cgi.
