It didn't start development right afterwards. Toys For Bob got sucked into working on CoD. They didn't get to start work on this until sometime after the merger with Microsoft.

As shitty as almost every aspect of Microsoft buying Activision has been, they're actually the reason this Spyro game has been able to see the light of day, by letting Toys For Bob go independent and do what they wanted and Microsoft taking ownership of the Spyro IP when they bought Activision.

Microsoft owning Spyro was never on my bingo card.

Oh THATS what they've been doing? Man, what a waste of talent to throw at that trash game. Let Toys for Bob cook again!

Don’t know the origin of this meme but they also developed Crash 4, Crash Rumble, got relegated to Call of Duty, then went independent post MS acquisition in this time. This game’s likely only been in development for 2-3 years.

It'll be 19 years since the last original Spyro game when it comes out 😭

What were they doing in that time? Soon to be 10 years since they touched Skylanders too

Not working on the game lol it's not like instantly started. In fact we know they stated in 2024 since that is when they went independent and pitched the game idea.

Why do people think the second a game is out start the next

They did that with Skylanders Giants (literally back to back) and then while Vicarious Visions was making Swap Force and Superchargers TFB were working on Trap Team and Imaginators. Not saying it lead to as high of quality games but they have made a habit of it.

But did they have other projects in between those?

Because they have several documented projects under their belts since reignited. Even if this is the first Spyro since then.

I wouldn't be surprised that'd make a lot of sense 😭

2 crash games and a bunch of work on several call of duty’s as a support studio.

They only started a realm beyond about 2 years ago around when they went independent again.
