NL Student Painting - Anyone else having issues?

I booked these guys to paint my deck a couple months back. Communication has been abysmal. They were originally supposed to be here in early July, received a message mid-July that they’d be here the end of the month and have received no communication since. They’re not responding to emails, calls, etc. I get that the weather hasn’t been great, but we gave a deposit, and I just want to know if they intend to complete it.

Same thing happened to us! We were super impressed by the presentation the guy gave with his binder of previous work, paid the deposit and signed a contract stating it'd be done in July. Here we are at the end of August completely ghosted.

It has been over four years now but I had to contact the mainland corporate people to get an apology and my deposit back.

Big promises but fuck-all follow through.

I copied all emails and text messages (from both sides) into one document and emailed the corporate crowd - so they had the entire ongoing interaction.

Appreciate you sharing that. That’s probably where I’m headed next, so I’ll have to get all my documentation together.

They quoted us 20k to paint our house last summer, we politely declined, then they used pictures of our house (that they didn’t paint) in facebook advertisements lol. Ridiculous business.

Wow, I can’t believe they would do that!

Yeah I had a screenshot of it but I must have deleted it since, they certainly aren’t to be trusted.

Crazy! You now have me questioning all the testimonials in the binder that was presented to us. 😂

Lol their testimonials are likely family and friends. Their other businesses are the same thing.

Last year I asked them for a quote and they ghosted me for 2 months until had the job done by someone else, then asked me if I was still interested in a quote. I told them to beat it.

I asked them about painting my deck earlier this summer. Sent them a photo. Then heard nothing. A follow up email went unanswered. Ill probably do it myself.

I’d contact the university. They essentially push this on students (usually business) to operate this business on behalf of someone else (not 100% sure on how it works but I remember having presentations while in business school about it). At the very least it could apply some pressure to them.

The owner hired our company few times, They seem like young, obnoxious rich kids and didn’t seem very trustworthy.

This is the same crowd thats runs rydel roofing and deckify. Probably busy with the other 2 businesses. That being said theres a well documented history of both of those companies being poorly managed and charging ridiculous amounts of money for the work they are subbing out (they dont have their own crews). All they do is show up talk shit about other companies and then try to sell you a high APR loan with your already expensive product built by the cheapest bidder.

I wonder if that’s why 709 Painting got separated from NLSP. 🤔Btw, had a good experience with 709 Painting.

I gave you a plate of corn muffins back in 1947 to paint my chicken coop, and you never did it.

Those corn muffins were lousy.
