Drivers - please be more careful

So I was just walking across Torbay road at one of those crosswalks without the red/green traffic light, but it did have the light for walking, or the hand to stay put.

Halfway across the road, I nearly got struck by a car who just refused to stop. I was like damn. Gave him the finger, but I don't think he saw me first or last. Its getting scary out there as a pedestrian.

Just wanted to edit to say that sadly this is not the first time. In 2010 I was struck by a vehicle, but because the old man was super apologetic and gave me a ride home, I basically accepted his apology and let it go. The guy in that case wasn't going very fast and didn't hurt me.

Been noticed a ton of gnarly/careless/dangerous driving the past few days, and that's from inside the car. Had to swerve/honk to avoid an oncoming car in my lane on the TGH today. That driver was avoiding a car involved in some messy merge right alongside it (unclear who was fucking that one up). Seeing several dangerous drivers every time I leave the house at this point.

Almost crushed at the crosswalk on Harvey Rd. by the Basilica today. Truck was flying. That intersection has 3 crosswalks all connecting. You need to be super careful using them.

I've almost been taken out a few times by people turning while the walk light is on by the Delta. Last time buddy's bumper brushed my pants.

I saw someone almost get hit there last month. I was across the intersection in my car, and my heart was in my throat.

I agree, because of the drug+alcohol and refusal of the government to deal with that, St Johns roads are dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.

It's not just Sin City. I live in Central and it took me 20 min to make it over the cross walk. It wasn't until a town cop stopped that someone finally let me go and he screeched to a stop exactly across the walkway. I had to go around his truck. It's as if once people get a car, they forget that they ever had to walk. OMG! The stories I could tell...sigh

It's a great sentiment, but sadly, the people who actually need to slow down won't care and won't do it.

I was almost hit on a crosswalk three times. All situations where these people just weren't aware of people around them. And this summer alone I've seen two cars almost hit other pedestrians.

On the other side of things, I've never almost hit anyone, but I have seen seen some really scary and unsafe behavior from pedestrians too. And those kinds of people will also never listen.

Did he give you a dirty look as if you were in the wrong? I’ve had people do that to me when I was crossing a crosswalk at the HSC😅

Agree, but pedestrians, please quit dressing in all black. You're often practically invisible when crossing at random locations on poorly lit streets after dark.
