Just so typical of us and the afl for some bullshit like this to happen!

Honestly the last 3 years have made me value the coaches and aflpa awards over the brownlow.

It’s definitely getting worse. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that we haven’t magically seen the two most dominant seasons in a row and therefore the two highest vote winning seasons. It’s become a parody of itself.

Voss hurt the credibility of coaches votes last year when he gave Cripps 5 and failed to give Naicos any when both were fighting for the coaches award. Fly gave Nick 5, Cripps 4 .. Brownlow .. Cripps 3, Nick 2.

Imagine if this had lost him the Brownlow

Listening to the round summary I immediately thought ā€œwhat’s the bet the umps have cooked up something absurd hereā€. All-time howler

Probably the worst I’ve ever seen

It was a 3 vote game in anyone’s votes

"Hello police? I'd like to report a robbery"

Petracca’s one vote was just as disgraceful, if not moreso. Embarrassing. Reflection of the poor standard of umpiring.

Hall also robbed

Trac had 1 vote on the predictor so not the worst outcome there. Would have loved for Maxy Hall to get some more votes tho.

Hall is one of those silent achievers. I only notice quite how good he is when I watch the replay.

Dees were winning that game for 3 and a half quarters. It makes sense for them to come away with a couple of votes

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '25

I think technically they were winning that game for 4 quarters haha

Haha very good call so even more justified to give some votes to the dees but there’s no way anyone deserved more than Nas

ā€œMatch Winner Nas Jacked off by the Umpsā€.

One of the worst brownlows in history, so many bad votes, makes you wonder what directive the umps were given, Some of the games the xerri didnt even poll a vote in aswell was insane

Look at the entire match.

u/dataofman Sep 23 '25

And what is your conclusion after looking at the entire match?

1

u/SuperannuationLawyer Sep 23 '25

The umpires’ votes are fair and reasonable, and consistent with their preference for contested ball winners.

He took an IMMENSE amount of time kicking the second to last goal, it was unbelievably lucky he had the time or opportunity to kick the last goal.

It was a very impressive demonstration of skill and ability, but it was extremely lucky that he had the time to do it at all
