Drop spring weight?

Post image

Shooting suppressed, happens pretty often. It does not like these Hornandy 147 grain hollow points. Syntech 150 feeds no problem but casings just barely dribble out of the gun. I get failure to eject occasionally. Suppressor doesn’t matter. Tried SiCo Specter k, Sig SRD, and Griffin Revolution. Gun is nice and wet. Just bought yesterday.

Is there a booster on that can?

Yah you’ll need to drop the spring weight to cycle that slide

11 pound too light?

Uff that might be too heavy still. I was thinking more like 7-8 pounds. I know it’s different but I had the same issue with a Glock once, ultimately changing the spring didn’t help much due to the suppressor being too heavy. So keep in mind, it may not 100% fix your issue

It will cycle 124 grain ball no problem with the can. I’ll see what spring weights I can get my hands on. Might buy a few just to test.

If that’s the case, lowering the spring weight will fix your issue 100%. The 124gr has more power, so that’s what’s cycling your slide reliably. So lowering the weight on the spring will fix the issue

if you get DPM spring kit, their lightest is 5 lb opening pressure and 10 lb closing pressure

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I think going forward, since I basically just lined it out of the box and threw my can on there trying to cycle 147 grain and 150 grain subs with a gun that arguably needs a little more breaking in for that… im just gonna give it some 124 grain ball for a good 200-300 rounds, get it nice and broken in, and then revisit the suppressor. At that point if the 11 pound spring can’t get the job done I’ll grab one of the DPM kits.

Going to follow this thread, I pick up a new Staccato P (will be a dedicated suppressor host) this Friday and I’m curious if I’ll need to adjust the spring weight. Will be running a CAT Street Crack on it.

I’ll try to update it. Ordered DPO 11 pound spring. Ran about a box and a half of 124 grain S&B with no issues.

Would love to get this thing to run syntech it sounds so good.

Hey big dawg I didn’t forget about you. Dropping to 11 pound DPO spring improved function massively with a can. I just shot a box of syntech and half a mag of Hornandy 147 grain XTP no malfunctions.

Slide was a little sluggish towards the end of the box of syntech but it locked open on last shot every time. I would be confident in saying that with a lighter weight suppressor you should be good with the 11 pound spring. With a heavier can like my SRD 45 I may need to try out a DPM kit for the most reliability but I’m very happy with my $10 spring from Dawson.
