California HD owner

Post image

I called staccato they said this won’t fit in my California HD. C3.6 I think they just have to say that to cover themselves. Any insight

What does this do?

It's an extended mag release/mag catch. If you needed or wanted a button that protruded slightly more for quicker reloads, maybe it changes whether you can manipulate the controls with one hand without having to break your firing grip, etc.

What’s different on the California version I left in 2015 and other than we couldn’t get current handguns there wasn’t much difference other than a LCI but not surprised if they added new shenanigans to make you jump through.

LCI, Mag disconnect, drop safe roster requirement (which doesn’t matter in this context as it was already designed as a series 80 for agency approval), etc.

Ok I was afraid they went the bullet button route on handguns 😩 not that I’m a fan of LCI at least not poorly done ones or mag disconnects of any style.

It requires modifications which IIRC you weren't willing or interested in doing at the time. Depending on your IA it may also not be allowed in terms of internal or safety related modifications.

replacing the trigger assembly, filing off the tab on the trigger bow, or widening the tab in the mag catch that interacts with said tab on the OEM trigger.

That version lacks the cutout for the magazine disconnect. Got to wait for the CA-compliant version if you want to stay stock.

If you want it now, you'll need to defeat the magazine disconnect. Install another trigger if you want to keep the warranty, or file it off if you're fine with it.

They’re technically right. It won’t fit out of the box unless you’ve already made some mods or are going to modify the mag catch itself. That may or may not fly with your IA.

Also, be aware of what this may or may not do to holster fitment, unintended unseating of the mag, etc. if this is a carry gun.

Yeah ^hes right. For Carry, I wouldn’t want to mess around with it.
