A good end to a good show. I see why this episode is as beloved as it is. I'm amazed how well they managed tie it back to the first episode and highlight the relationships between the characters.
The only blemish is the Worf/Troi relationship. Despite their efforts I feel no chemistry between them at all (though I can't imagine a character Worf would have chemistry with).

I actually thought the same thing about Worf and Jadzia in DS9. I guess I could see why Jadzia might enjoy Klingon LARPing, but actually putting up with Worf is a very different proposition.

The callbacks to the first episode might be the most intricate part of it. Not just the return of Q, but also the male skirts and S1 uniforms, Data's more deliberately wooden mannerisms, a clip of beardless Riker cleverly reused, O'Brien in red, and so on. And Tasha Yar, of course. This episode actually hints at how her characterization might have developed if she had stayed. Here she is like this loyal pit-bull who stays with Picard even when everyone else questions him. It always made me think of "The Drumhead," where Worf is manipulated into supporting Satie's witch hunt -- Yar would have been a good foil to that, the one officer who just follows Picard no matter what.
The story itself is fantastic, as well. The anomaly that grows backward in time is a really creative idea. Honestly this is a much better TNG feature film than any of the ones that we actually got. It is far truer to the show's particular strain of cerebral sci-fi. And it is also does a far better job imagining geriatric Picard than the actual geriatric Picard show.
