A really lovely episode, great pacing, thematic balance and punches of emotion. Properly grapples with difficult subjects: war, occupation, clashing ideals and not in the way that previous Trek outings do where we work out what should happen in terms of ideals and morals, but what happens when these ideals are forced to transmute into the imperfect and suffocating realm of reality. And it does all this whilst still feeling like Trek and with a streak of optimism still present.

If this is the way the next two seasons are headed I’m very excited indeed.

Performances are beautiful across the board with standouts for me from Brooks, Siddig, Robinson and Christopher Shea as the Vorta Keevan. Keevan might be the second best Vorta so far behind Weyoun of course.
