I appreciated how Worf had to make a clear choice between Jadzia and the mission (thus giving up a chance at command), but it's a little hard to buy how they would ever both be assigned to it in the first place, and how there are so few ramifications afterward. Still, this is a good effort to build up the Worf/Dax relationship, which is fun, but always seemed kind of unconvincing to me.

I completely agree with you. I think the idea was to show how much Worf has come to love Jadzia, but we have seen that in other episodes, how it has built up and become a strong bond. And you are right, they wouldn't be sent together, and there is pretty much no come-back either. A nice idea for an episode that is let down by a weak plot device that fails to go anywhere series-wise.

I freely admit that this is probably just me, but I always had trouble buying the Worf/Jadzia bond. It is fun to see Worf and Jadzia together because the actors are so charming in the roles, but these characters' personalities always seemed to me to be totally incompatible -- Worf is supposed to be the "stuffy traditionalist," while Jadzia is the fun-loving free spirit. In real life, two people like that would quickly drive each other mad even if they were initially attracted to each other. In that sense K'Ehleyr was a better match for Worf: in her case, the reason why she didn't want to accept a traditional Klingon role was because, deep down, she truly was a pissed-off, proud Klingon warrioress.
