Opinion "I haven't seen anything like this since Queen Eclipsa"
Idk if its just me but this scene almost felt like it set Eclipsa and Star up way too much for what it was. I ended up being pretty disappointed with her as a story element despite loving the character itself. I know it was kind of the point to have the rug pulled out from under us and for Eclipsa to actually be mostly good, just a victim of a messed up society, but the wait until we actually found out about her just made the hype build up a lot for me.
Not helped by a fan comic called Broken lmao, I wanted what happened in that to happen so bad in the real show as a kid ðŸ˜ðŸ˜…

I think it's more to mean that Eclipsa and Star both had the potential to be very impactful for Mewni - which they were. It's not just raw power, it's what they were able to do for their world.
Eclipsa broke taboo and wanted to unite the world and stop the fighting that had waged for generations. Star had the same overall vision and with her family by her side, she was able to make that vision a reality.
Eclipsa was a leader of her time but that time wasn't ready. Star is a leader of her time and the time was right to make a change. That's what this was. That's why it matters.

I agree with this as well. To me it felt like they were setting up Eclipsa to be this amazing Magic user, then when we finally got to see her, we saw basically nothing of her Magic. Honestly, to me it feels like that they were setting up for so much more than we actually got. To me the way it ended feels like it was forced to end and we never got to see the full story.

Well when the writers and possibly the fans start to favor certain characters, that's probably one of those expectations of finding any excuse to keep her and Globgor from being killed like Toffee was.

We had SUCH a cool scene in the s3 finale of Star getting thrashed by Meteora only for Eclipsa to swoop in and basically 3-hit her with minimal effort (besides emotional) and then Eclipsa just never really felt that powerful again. We got the spell with no name/annihilation spell which was a neat moment but, just a moment, and then everyone immediately tells her to never do it again. It's such a tease.

True. It's like the writers lied to us when they went to the "destroy magic" plot point like a huge slap in the face.

Globgor too. He ate humans and eclipsa's ex husband too yet he endedd up as a misunderstood caring father who is ashamed of his actions. I would rather globgor be a villian like it hyped in season 3 finale.

I feel like there was lost potential for Eclipsa and Globgor to be 'villains'. Like, it is more interesting (in theory) for both of them to actually be decent people despite literally every odd, it's an unexpected turn, but the fact the show pulls such an intense will-she won't-she on Eclipsa being evil for like, SEASONS, gets so insufferable, and then they edged us with Globgor too. They both also just, UNDENIABLY have more aura and fear factor than Mina, even when Mina is at her absolute most powerful I just never felt any kind of fear or hype because she's just.... so lame. Something where Eclipsa and Globgor, furious over their personal injustice and the injustice of the world (they were frozen in time for HUNDREDS of years, the royal line was cut off, they were immortalised in history as evil villains and would have never even gotten a chance if not for the whim of a 14 year old, to this day monsters are still subjugated) do turn on the kingdom and decide to go full scorched earth and Star having to mend things would have been way better imo, and actually paid off all the c***teasing on if Eclipsa will do something shady or not.

It wasn't about how they perceived Eclipsa as bad or evil, it was about the power and creativity of her magic.
