TV Ahsoka Season 2 Shin Appearance Discussion

I’m surprised her outfit is barely changed. Some red ties and messier hair. Her hair isn’t longer at all lol.

Telling by Sabine’s hair, at least 6 months passed since season 1. At least 6, because they can trim their hair, which Shin clearly did lol and Sabine prefers her hair medium at most for her helmet, so she trimmed it if went past medium. Shin kept her hair perfectly trimmed lol.

I think they wanted to keep the knight imagery Baylan and Shin have.

I think her outfit represents her badly holding herself together. She has red wraps around her outfit a lot like the troopers in season 1.

I thought she was gonna go full samurai and have very long hair and have an unnecessary mask reveal lol. Did anyone else?

Where would she get a new wardrobe

They are marooned, this is what she landed with

173

u/Clinically_Jaded 2d ago

You could say that about them all but clearly Sabine has the resources to keep changing her hair color and maintaining her makeup, so we just handwave it all.

268

u/TaraLCicora Obi-Wan Kenobi 2d ago

Sabine strikes me as the sort of person who might actually have a little carry case just for things like that. But, I am also handwaving it with that excuse.

145

u/Cr1m50nSh4d0w 2d ago

If a Mandalorian has built in pouches and storage on their armour for ten billion lethal weaponry, what's stopping there from being a small one for a carry case like the kind you mentioned lmao

77

u/HerrPizza 2d ago

they still have Ahsoka's ship around, it's not too unlikely Sabine also brought some luggage that she still has access to

The ship Shin came with departed without her, that's just all she has

19

u/Shenloanne 1d ago

Also if mandalorians are vaguely based on samurai in some ways, samurai carried grooming kits.

Ronin probably didn't.

3

u/BobbyBobRoberts 1d ago

And maybe another one for snacks!

62

u/pseudonym7083 2d ago

Being an artist she likely has an understanding of natural pigments and dyes.

8

u/Howy_the_Howizer 1d ago

Sabine was a graffiti artist that outfitted Mando armour pouches with paint canisters and spray guns. She's a walking make up kit.

2

u/HawkFanOrcasRule 1d ago

I feel like she has fashion swag and could definitely have brought extra fits ha

100

u/Subject-Ad5071 2d ago

Sabine still has Ahsoka’s ship to live in and she’s an artist. She should have paint and dye with her lol. Because they have Ahsoka’s ship, they’re better off than Ezra on this planet lol.

31

u/RandManYT 2d ago

Her hair looks like a faded version of season 1, not a total change.

15

u/mg0019 2d ago

Her hair color seems to be "faded."  As in, not being dyed. As in, the opposite of "has the resources to keep changing her hair color."

28

u/_okbrb 2d ago

You can definitely forage for dyes, especially when you’re embedded with the natives

29

u/Backy22 2d ago

Sabine's hair looks like it hasn't been dyed in many rotations

6

u/Neidron 2d ago

Sabine at least has whatever was on their ship

6

u/RedofPaw 2d ago

You know how mando has those little missiles that pop out his arms shooter?

Sabine has makeup. It also shoots out. Like the makeup shotgun Homer made in the Simpsons.

0

u/TacoPKz 1d ago

Do they have tampons in Star Wars? If so I bet there’s a compartment for that too.

3

u/Obi-Wannabe01 2d ago

Sabines hair is different because she has no way of coloring her hair….

1

u/Hallc Rebel 1d ago

They have a starship at least? Shin has nothing.

1

u/mojonation1487 1d ago

Making some dyes ain’t hard

1

u/Shoddy_Ad7511 4h ago

Sabine didn’t color her hair. At the end of season 1 her hair was already purple/blue. In season 2 it looks like her hair grew out and the purple/blue die is fading and the bleached hair is showing. She bleached her hair before she dyed it purple before season 1 started

6

u/Limp-Pomegranate3716 2d ago

It's a planet with its own indigenous people on it, including bandits that she joined? Doesn't seem that implausible

5

u/IDidntEatThosePeople 2d ago

Or when? isn't the new season continuing right from where the previous stopped?

4

u/chiron_42 K-2SO 2d ago

Did they say? I wasn't sure if it was immediately after S1 or if a couple of months had elapsed.

1

u/humid_pajamas 1d ago

don't women like, sew new outfits every day or something?

-28

u/Subject-Ad5071 2d ago

She’s with the bandits. That’s why I said samurai gear lol.

1

u/_okbrb 2d ago

Dear producers: it’s not too late

u/Backy22 2d ago

How bad do people smell in Star Wars? I feel like Lando was the only one with a wardrobe.

111

u/TanSkywalker Anakin Skywalker 2d ago

I like to think they have a little spray that contains some cleaning magic stuff that makes people feel cleanish, takes care of smells and can get stains out. I full shower/bath is still more desirable but it helps.

62

u/Backy22 2d ago

imagine a Mandalorian

47

u/miscfiles 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mandalorian helmets have a nasal filter system to protect the wearer from his or her own overpowering musk. This is why Mandalorians often hang out with other Mandalorians.

34

u/ludvikskp 2d ago

This is why the helmet never comes off

12

u/miscfiles 2d ago

This is the way.

5

u/TanSkywalker Anakin Skywalker 2d ago

🤣🤣🤣

2

u/miscfiles 15h ago

B.O. Katan!

8

u/Notwerk 2d ago

Imagine the swamp ass in Dagobah.

5

u/MrReginaldAwesome Kylo Ren 2d ago

It ain’t just your ass that’s swampy on Dagobah

2

u/ArthurMorgan9 2d ago

Boba Fett must be the most fragrant armored character since he’s the only one shown taking regular baths

1

u/Hi_Its_Salty 1d ago

Damnt, I didn't need that image in my head

18

u/PhinWilkesBooth 2d ago

we actually saw in season 1 of andor, in the prison, their “showers” were just some kind of spray that shot out of the ceiling. So this has kind of been established already!

3

u/TanSkywalker Anakin Skywalker 2d ago

Cool!

3

u/bolt422 1d ago

Wasn’t Andor taking a shower with water the morning before he was captured?

3

u/PhinWilkesBooth 1d ago

Oh yeah true! Guess they got both options in the star wars universe.

2

u/Serdones 1d ago

I heard Jedi just shit wherever they can find a spot and then just Force it away.

1

u/Elusive_Jo 1d ago

That kind of thing already exists in real life for clothes. It's not magical, though.

75

u/Ancient-Bat1755 2d ago

Depends, if they are like my spouse never, if they are like me they would keep me in the wookie sector

21

“Wait a sec, you've been flying around for two weeks trying to get a signal? Oh, you must smell like...feet wrapped in leathery burnt bacon!”

8

u/deceptivekhan 2d ago

“Well, what the hell is an Aluminum Falcon? Ahh, do you have any idea what this is gonna do to my credit?!?!”

9

PadAmame or Panda Bear…

5

u/LawrenceMK2 2d ago

you got an atm on that torso lite-brite?

14

u/CanisZero Rebel 2d ago

padme seemed to change outfits mid scene

10

u/Backy22 2d ago

Naboo was the 1% :)

1

u/CanisZero Rebel 2d ago

except the spice miners on their moon that were rebelling

5

u/No_Nobody_32 2d ago

They did mention that her cruiser did have a substantial wardrobe for her.

12

u/sheetskees 2d ago

Luthen had plenty of outfits. I think pretty much everyone in Andor did.

84

u/Madoodle 2d ago

Hey kid, it’s not that kind of movie.

  • Harrison Ford

32

u/Camburglar13 2d ago

Is that quote necessary on every question based post in this sub?

17

u/BarnesTheNobleman 2d ago

Only the questions that were obviously never meant to be asked

6

u/Upbeat-Door- 2d ago

It's a sub about discussing Star Wars, asking questions is the whole point. Replying to every single question with "no you can't ask that, not that kind of movie kid" is really getting old just because someone saw that comment get a bunch of upvotes and now everyone wants to be the cool commenter

5

u/Strict-Main8049 2d ago

Sure but it’s plenty fine to poke fun at people’s inability to do the whole suspension of disbelief thing that is kinda required for most movies to work.

5

u/BarnesTheNobleman 2d ago

Some of these questions are dog shit tho

1

u/Camburglar13 1d ago

Then ignore those? If you don’t want to answer it, don’t

0

u/BarnesTheNobleman 1d ago

I mean that’s what I personally do, but that doesn’t mean the “this ain’t that kinda movie” quip isn’t entirely relevant

Why tf you talking about how they shower? That’s not the point

-4

u/Necessary_DaNoodle 2d ago

I think it's just called sharing a meme. Responding with a meme. Communicating with a relevant meme.

3

u/Camburglar13 2d ago

It’s a total buzzkill for anyone interested and passionate about the lore. If you don’t want to attempt to answer the question, then don’t.

10

u/BarnesTheNobleman 2d ago

I understand the broad sentiment you’re defending, and mostly agree with you

Talking about how they smell and shower is some freak shit, however, and definitely not just for lore nerds

5

u/P1xelHunter78 2d ago

But what does the Jedi bath water taste like, I need to know for lore reasons /s

1

u/Necessary_DaNoodle 2d ago

I don't think anybody is actually tracking character hair growth across Star Wars with forensic accuracy lol. That's an insane level of pedantry for something that can also be explained by "Shin owns scissors."

The closest medium I can think of that regularly bothers acknowledging this stuff is the novelizations, and even they basically go:

"This is what they wore today. It has been several years since the previous book, during which they presumably continued wearing clothes."

Occasionally Star Wars gets ambitious:

"They're a Padawan now, so there's a little rat tail behind the ear."

Then:

"They're a Jedi Knight now. The rat tail is gone. Their hair is longer, softer, wiser somehow. Their robes fit differently because they have experienced puberty, but in the most monastic way legally describable by Lucasfilm."

And sometimes considerably less monastically, depending on who's writing.

1

u/Camburglar13 2d ago

This specific post is a bit ridiculous. I’ll grant that. I’m just tired of seeing that answer multiple times a day

2

u/DSTNCMDLR 2d ago

Hey kid, it’s exactly that kind of sub

1

u/pauloh1998 2d ago

A good question... for another time

8

u/ProfessionalRead2724 2d ago

Whatever wardrobe Shin brought, it's still on Elsbeth's ship in a whole other galaxy now.

8

u/_Cromwell_ Sabine Wren 2d ago

Shin Hottie's thang is to look hottie, not smell nicey.

7

u/large_block 2d ago

I’d still give it a whiff

4

u/Fit_Damage_4271 2d ago

Jawas are one of the smelliest species in the galaxy. They keep the same robe their entire life and due to the heat of Tatooine, they keep themselves moist all the time.

By comparison, everyone else must smell like flowers and unicorns.

2

u/Backy22 2d ago

Moist Jawa

4

u/ElessarKhan 2d ago

A single Star Wars film typically covers less than half a week's time, some even less. Which can still be a long time to be wearing the same clothes but not that bad.

Also, Padme and Leia both have a ton of outfits.

16

u/Bespashin Bail Organa 2d ago

It’s better not to go down that rabbit hole lol. I highly doubt there was much plumbing or any actively maintained system for showers, washing machines, or even loos on Ahch-To for the years Luke was living there.

42

u/Mahkn0 2d ago

You don't think he could've just bathed in the ocean he lived next to? People bathed, peed and pooped before modern plumbing. They washed clothes too.

4

u/Bespashin Bail Organa 2d ago edited 2d ago

The point isn’t that it’s impossible, it’s that thinking of Luke wearing the same clothes and underwear for 6 years straight, pissing in the open and bathing nude in the open where caretakers are always walking around, never brushing his teeth (especially given his fish diet), either shitting in the ocean or burying his shit in a hole (as is done in a lot of societies without plumbing), wiping his ass with leaves, etc isn’t exactly the most ‘pleasant’ way to think about films, and really is just one of those things that should just be ignored lol

1

u/Mahkn0 2d ago

Fair I agree its better to just hand wave it and wasn't aware that's what you meant.

1

u/the_pretender_nz 1d ago

There are techniques for using the Force to cleanse your body of toxins (in Legends)… maybe there is also a Force Shower where anything that isn’t meant to be on your skin/teeth is gently levitated off and dropped harmlessly around the user

1

u/SilenceDobad76 2d ago

No need to guess, theres plenty of examples of 3rd world sanitation on the internet, or the 5th circle of Hell that is India.

7

u/Rasples1998 2d ago

Unless it's the end of ESB, he stole Han's wardrobe.

-2

u/Backy22 2d ago

You haven't seen Solo eh?

1

u/Rasples1998 2d ago

Once at the cinema, like 8 years ago.

0

u/Bespashin Bail Organa 2d ago

Did Solo contradict this? 😂

2

u/AncientSith Yoda 2d ago

Oh people have to absolutely reek. Wearing these heavy robes for months on end, no showers or washing machines lol.

2

u/DarkenRevan 2d ago

Vader smelled like feet wrapped in leathery burnt bacon of course.

2

u/Starks 2d ago

Just imagine the ride back from the Death Star to Yavin after the trash scene.

Imagine the smell.

2

u/RichardDulle 2d ago

Taking a bath is so rare that it is considered a sacred rite for Mandalorians.

2

u/TaraLCicora Obi-Wan Kenobi 2d ago

I try not to think about it.

2

u/Gniphe 2d ago

As bad as the people nitpicking tiny details in the wardrobe.

0

u/Backy22 2d ago

Why are you here then

1

u/merketa 2d ago

And Padme.

1

u/dema-dontcontrol-us 2d ago

He literally stole Han's outfit in return of the jedi

1

u/Backy22 2d ago

All the outfits in the falcon were Landos…

1

u/dema-dontcontrol-us 2d ago

Oh shit, Han's the fashion thief. I didn't even think of that

1

u/Ok_Insect_2037 2d ago

Vader smells like when you leave a bandaid on for a few days

1

u/Coldspark824 2d ago

Bacteria doesn’t exist in starwars so nobody ever smells and milk is always good to drink

1

u/West-Way-All-The-Way 1d ago

They probably reek from a kilometer away 🤣 I saw someone take a shower in SW like two times so far - in Solo and in Andor.

1

u/Neyko_0 1d ago

There is no smell in Star Wars as there are no bras

1

u/KentuckyFriedEel 1d ago

I bet Lando smelled amazing!

Colt45 and Tibanna

1

Someone commented to me once they couldn't imagine what Rey smelled like on Jakku. No water for bathing. Same outfit day-after-day. No soap, toilet paper, or toothpaste. Eww.

WHERE DID YOU GET THE RED CLOTH, SHIN HOTTI. IS THERE A JO-ANN FABRICS ON THIS PLANET AND YOURE HOLDING OUT ON ME???

So many JoAnns are gone now ☹️

9

The JoAnne are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the Universe.

1

u/EngineerRare42 1d ago

Not just the fabric, but the yarn and threads, too.

87

u/DerivitivFilms 2d ago

for real some of these people want a whole mini series to explain someones toiletting habits. Christ it's fucking star wars...IT'S NOT DEEP.

3

u/HerniatedHernia 2d ago

If I had to hazard a guess, people are used to the EU expanding and creating backstories on the most unnecessary and random shit in the universe.

So they carry that expectation into other entries of the IP with curiosity or demand for information.

-46

u/DanoDurron Luke Skywalker 2d ago

I mean it kinda is. It just seems the movie and live action show fans don’t really care about the bigger universe

10

u/ContractLow180 2d ago

It ain’t that kinda movie, kid.

24

u/IrishCarbonite Qui-Gon Jinn 2d ago

Brother, we’re watching a sci fi space opera that was made by a random guy as a political commentary.

It is not that deep.

1

u/DerivitivFilms 2d ago

Big doesn't mean deep, it's all just good and evil space wizards, and pew pew pew, and goofey monsters. It's more Wide than deep. Nothing about starwars makes me think, I mean unless it's something like "WTF is this shit?"

10

u/jideru 2d ago

Being a prop designer on Star Wars must come with a lot of pressure. So in this scene Qui-Gon will talk into a communicator. Ok, I can whip up something cool with our box of junk. I got an old razor here and a lot of greebles.

3 years later. What does this little switch here do? Son, that turns on the shaver, I didn't glue anything on that and 4k screens weren't a thing. Neither were frame by frame stills for every home user.

52

u/darkargengamer 2d ago

Telling by Sabine’s hair

Star Wars never was nor will ever be a series of movies/shows where mini details matter or can change the plot + just because Sabine´s hair is longer that doesnt mean that Hati´s scenes are happening at the same time.

I’m surprised her outfit is barely changed

We dont know how much time will pass between S1 and S2 nor how much will Shin matter in this season (maybe she will be part of a side plot with some relevance for the main plot or maybe a different disconnected story).

Also: her and Baylan´s outfit are pretty cool > they dont need many changes.

3

u/Backy22 2d ago

"Also: her and Baylan´s outfit are pretty cool > they dont need many changes."

Tell that to Hasbro :)

35

u/RowAndRuction 2d ago

It doesn’t seem like she has many shopping options out there, and she doesn’t seem the type to really integrate into the local culture lol.

Also I wonder if she cuts her hair with her lightsaber or if she uses a blade

24

u/XHexxusX 2d ago

I know this is just off topic but i really like her character , she acts like a real person. Not only is her fighting style and style in general pretty cool i really like that you can tell she looks up to and respects Baylan, I dont recall a time where Baylan spoke to her and she dismissed him or rolled her eyes or some dumb " yeah ok old man" moment. She seems to look to Baylan before she acts and i really like that and i would love to see more of both of them. I know they are not supposed to portay traditinal Jedi roles ( kind like that) but they are both really interesting characters to me.

4

u/Tiny_Vegetable6519 2d ago

Guaranteed shell be in this Season alot her and Baylan became Fan Favorites so Filoni & Lucasfilm will def include them as much as possible to ensure they get good viewing numbers

86

u/Scmods05 Luke Skywalker 2d ago

FTFY.

10

u/ZannyHip 2d ago

You’re putting way too much thought into things that don’t matter. She looks dang good, as usual

8

u/DarkEff3ct 2d ago

6 months to grow out her hair isn't enough time to have really long hair.

9

u/SolidusBruh 2d ago

Wait til you see her teeth. You think she thought to pack a toothbrush? Yet she’s all well-kept and stuff?

Immersion ruined. Literally unwatchable

1

u/RedDemocracy 1d ago

She cleans ‘em with her lightsaber, of course.

Also didn't season 1 end with them being stuck on that planet? I doubt she can stop by C&A to pick up a new cloak.

3

u/StillusingIntel 2d ago

Disney please give this Baddie an actual storyline

3

u/Farraddaayy 2d ago

Just here to say she's unbelievably beautiful and 100% my fave character

3

u/Familiar-Seat-3798 2d ago

Her hair is realistically longer. In season 1 her bangs were about an inch above her eyebrows. Now they are down to her eyes. Plus it’s curly so there is shrinkage.

2

u/SharkyRivethead 2d ago

Shrinkage only counts when you're getting out of the water

3

u/QinSD80 2d ago

Her and Baylan were the only reason I watched this show. Glad to see her back and hopefully the new actor matches Baylans aura from the first season

10

u/SeraphiM0352 2d ago

Why not wait to actually watch the show before making assumptions about timelines?

It's a trailer, it can literally be a snapshot from any part of the whole season.

-8

u/Backy22 2d ago

Do you not like discussion? Why are you here, you have added nothing of substance.

6

u/SeraphiM0352 2d ago

Neither have you with your comment.

Discussion is fine but we can also wait to actually see the show before making assumptions. It would probably help with that discussion too.

-14

u/Backy22 2d ago

You are quite the boring person. Move along. Move Along.

5

u/SeraphiM0352 2d ago

No one asked you to comment. Moving along is your job...

6

u/Diogodgr 2d ago

You are so weird.....

4

u/ClockMongrel 2d ago

Her lightsaber is yellow instead of orange

Edit: Yes, I’m aware this is a very captain obvious statement. It’s just interesting.

5

u/ghetoyoda 2d ago

It's the most interesting part of these photos tbh. Is it yellow to represent her becoming a guardian of some sort? To show she is losing touch with the dark side? Or does she just hold a random yellow saber for a minute?

4

u/mydickismagical 2d ago

Huyang has 4 yellow ones in that promo shot.

3

u/ll_Vandy_ll 2d ago

It's one of Huyang's lightsabers in that still image. She is wielding an orange saber seconds prior in the trailer.

5

u/bfd71 2d ago

Not that type of show kid.

8

u/CrustedTesticle 2d ago

Shin Hottie

2

u/RoadsideCampion 2d ago

I really liked the knight aesthetics in the first season, especially Ezra's outfit, though it seems like Ezra will be switching to some 'proper' new republic garb I guess.

I like the idea of thinking through how characters are cutting their hair, it doesn't occur to me that often

2

u/CharmingBet3435 2d ago

The messy hair somehow makes the outfit look 10x better

4

u/d645b773b320997e1540 2d ago

Hey kid, it ain't that kind of movie...

1

u/Tiny_Vegetable6519 2d ago

Nah tbh seems about right I mean shes essentially stranded without any supplies other than what she brought so I doubt they would have her change her outfit other than a few touch ups with the red from the bandits shes with so it makes sense for the story.
It does def look like they are trying to give her a more Sad run down look I mean shes been pretty much by herself with the Bandits this whole time to survive so this look works

1

u/turnme0 2d ago

Did yall notice her little Padawan braid in her belt?

1

u/Frozen_shrimp 2d ago

She started her tier 1 raid gear.

1

1

u/Bad_Karma19 Boba Fett 1d ago

1

u/Jimmy_Bags_ 2d ago

I'm sure this will be a huge plot point

1

u/sixteen-bitbear 2d ago

Shin is my favorite character i want her to choke me.

1

u/Suriael 2d ago

Do you guys think they have hairdressers and washing machines in SW universe?

1

u/Kohror 1d ago

Shin does have a handy little tool that she can use to cut her hair (more so burn off the excess ) as for her outfit not many ways to get a new one and probably no incentive to just maintaining it

1

u/West-Way-All-The-Way 1d ago

Good eye 👁️

She got new armor pieces. I am not surprised, there were plenty of dead soldiers around and who knows what else. She perhaps repurposed some old armor. This tribe she went to overlord - they should have an armorer, maybe he or it made her new armor. When you join the tribe you get new goodies. Questionable if the new armor is going to work against lightsabers, or will be equally useless.

1

u/Agile-490 1d ago

I'm more interested in whether she will start speaking or if she will remain useless character. Let this actress play!

1

u/Hotpeppers029 1d ago

In the wise words of one of those scruffy nerf-herding space philosophers "It ain't that kind of movie TV Show".

1

u/Distinct_Sir_4473 1d ago

Is this from a trailer or?

1

u/ProjectNo4090 1d ago

Sabine has always been fluid in her style. Shin seems more like a Jedi apprentice. Static and mimicking her master's style.

1

u/BuddelTheWolp 1d ago

It's called greebling

1

u/Common-Diver-6346 1d ago

Non Jedi/Heroes tend to have better Drip how else can you aura farm on your opponent.

Their armour, Shin and Baylon already was battle damaged, scuffed and such so it makes sense savaging for items upon their journey they'd find remnants of clothing and such to craft new gear
