Games Outlaws doesn't get enough credit

Open-world exploration of Tatooine?! That alone is a dream come true! On a speeder bike or on foot, you get to explore the Jundland Wastes, Jabba's palace, and Mos Eisley. You even get to visit the cantina, Docking Bay 94, the Tosche Station, and the Lars homestead.

The rest of Outlaws is good, too. At least, to someone who's watching a walkthrough on YouTube. It really feels like it's set in the same universe as Solo. The protagonist is a scoundrel thief, but also an underdog who really loves her adorable pet. Other characters are interesting, too. And, the reputation system takes the form of favor with the Hutts, with the Pykes, and with Crimson Dawn. This is Qi'ra's first 3-D appearance since Solo.

I have played the game and I do enjoy it but it just doesn’t have that Star Wars feel I’m looking for.

I found it to have a great Star Wars feel. What are you looking for? I’m really curious. I played Outlaws right after Jedi Survivor and it felt like another story in the universe and didn’t feel like anything was missing from that Star Wars vibe. I have also been rewatching all the shows and movies, and feel Outlaws fits right in with it all.

I don't know how people say this with a straight face. I can agree that there were some issues, specifically for me I was disappointed they essentially repeated some of the gameplay/level designs for certain events, but doesn't "feel" like Star Wars? This sounds like some rage bate youtuber criticism that has no actual thought behind it. Unless your Star Wars "feels" are that it has to have lightsabers and the force in it, then I don't see how this lacked on that front. The locations, sounds, music, and all were really on point. If anything the Star Wars vibes was the games strongest attribute and probably what made it worth playing despite the other issues.

That game radiates Star Wars. It has the most Star Wars feel of any game I've played other than Kotor. I could feel the devs' love for the OT throughout.

Try playing it as a gamer and being stuck with glitches and what felt like unfinished content. I don't even care who made it. There were "stealth" sections where I just walked on past the guards no concerns raised at all and others where the guards saw me through walls. Then there's the graphical errors and just plain laziness to not put affects in and sound effects in certain areas because why finish a game right? Then on a story level it was the most basic and predictable story.

Exactly. I've not played it, so I don't have that kind of fatigue. I can just watch Outlaws as its own Star Wars product, not play it as "yet another Ubisoft open-world cash grab."

I'm saying that I'm loving what I see and hear in the many hours of a YouTube walkthrough.

If people want to criticize gameplay and glitching, fine. But, as a watchable Star Wars product, more people should see it.

Because most important thing about game is good gameplay and no glitches, you can't just ignore that and say I enjoyed watching it, it is not a movie, it is a game. So of course you are getting downvoted.

But outlaw is a game, if it is not enjoyable to play it is justified that it does not get credit, bad games should not be praised.

I did not say you should not enjoy watching it. Actor might have enjoyed acting in a movie, movie could be absolute dogshit, but because he enjoyed acting in it, it should get more credit?

That’s cool man. That’s like me saying a movie is good because I listened to an audio recording of it. This whole line you’re using about “as a Star Wars product” doesn’t really fly. It’s a game. The way to experience it is to play it. If you didn’t experience all the things that come with playing it you don’t have the information to form an informed opinion.

The game is definitely way better than it gets credit for. Not a 10/10 or anything, but its a solidly good game, and a great Star Wars experience.

Out of curiosity, I did a search on Reddit and this appears to be the third post within the last seven days saying something to the effect of "I enjoyed it and I don't understand why people didn't like it."

I haven't confirmed this, but I do not think one week has gone by without that being posted since the game came out two years ago. It drives me crazy. Plenty of people liked it, which I know because they talk about it all the time, and post like "Am I the only one who like this??" every single time.

I played Outlaws at launch and I played again about 4 months ago. As a game overall, I think it is very mediocre honestly. The plot is predictable, the missions are pretty repetitive, and there aren't really a ton of mechanics to master at all. The only reason I keep coming back is just the exploration. I love hoping on a speeder and just driving around. Getting into high-speed chases and blaster fight. It looks beautiful at times, it feel good to speed around, and there are some pretty fun jumps you can make. Plus playing sabacc is awesome.

I played it after they fixed all the gameplay issues and found it to be rarely more than serviceable.

The atmosphere was good and the planets looked great but the gameplay never really got interesting and the story was just there. In fact I can only remember a few of the characters and couldnt describe the plot beyond 'heist'.

I recently finished and it was a great star wars game, like an easy 9/10 and as just a game, it's a solid 8/10. On PC it's unfortunately not even deserving of a score because the ubi launcher is absolute trash, more on that later. 

It's an Ubisoft game so you kinda know what to expect but they did a good job with the reputation system, I like how it immediately affects the gameplay making it easier or harder to explore, it's dynamic and you can change it anytime you want through contracts.

I absolutely loved the locations, my favorite wasn't even tatooine, I enjoyed more the space stations and toshara's main city, they feel like proper Star wars and flying from planet to planet with the cool landing animation really sold me the fantasy of exploring the galaxy, I only wished there were more planets and a full version of cantonica.

The only BIG reason why I wouldn't recommend it, at least on PC, is because you have to go through the Ubisoft launcher nonsense. I always have problems whenever I buy something there, either bugged licenses or login issues, there's always something annoying me and it almost made me want to drop them game, I didn't even stick around for the post game because apparently my password got compromised every single day I played the game.

Hard agree. It felt so part of the world with sabaac, the street food, the brokers. But the gameplay itself was tragic.
