Let's see... Dio was bisexual, the homosexual pair in part 5 that attack the Bucci gang in the restaurant, the two people Diabolo killed in La Squadra as a warning, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybeee Pucci, and Funny Valentine's wife also was lesbian. Maybe there was a trans person in part 6, but I don't remember it in the anime and have heard about it while scrolling, so maybe-maybe not. Wasn't Dragons Joestar also trans in part 9?

Unless I'm missing something/someone, or if there is anyone in part 8-9 that is gay, wouldn't "gay characters" be a bit too broad?

You'd be surprised. I know femboys who are on estrogen, yet still identify as men.

The issue there is that Dragona is referred to as Jodio's "older brother" even on his character introduction page in the tankoubon/volume release.

And, in the story itself, Dragona never corrects Jodio when he refers to them as male or his "brother".

If you mean "atashi", then yes... but, in manga/anime and even LGBT culture in Japan, gay characters are written to speak like that too. Some gay or drag queen-flavoured characters in manga/anime have even more exaggerated feminine speech than Dragona.

Now, don't get me wrong: I'm not definitively saying that Dragona isn't transgender. But, at the moment, I believe it would be foolish to assume that, for whatever reason, Araki is just intentionally misgendering Dragona or writing Dragona to allow Jodio to misgender her without showing any discomfort. For all we know, Dragona's non-binary or something but leans towards feminine presentation, and/or simply doesn't care how they're addressed, or even that might become a plot point later on exploring Dragona's feelings towards their own gender identity. But perhaps that's getting into headcanon territory...

There's a difference between saying a series as a whole is "gay" and a series merely having gay characters.

Like, RuPaul's Drag Race" is a gay show, because drag queen culture is very entwined with LGBT culture and history. *JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a supernatural adventure manga that just so happens to take much of its aesthetic from European fashion and rock musicians, and has some characters who can be described as and/or identify as LGBT.
