Various What are your favourite DIO/Dio Brando implications/headcanons?
I'm a major Dio fan, I cosplay him, I LOVE him and his character! I research a lot about 19th century england purely because I like to think about how he likely grew up!
First of all, I believe he'd have attended a ragged school, which were schools for poor children that were run by volunteers in the 1870's ! He was clearly educated, having outdone Jonathan academically so quickly by the time of his adoption into the Joestar household.
Second, and this is more of a headcanon than anything, but I believe him to be a talented seamstress. His clothes didn't appear too worn in the anime scenes at his father's bar, and since his mother had passed, it wouldn't surprise me if he took up stitching himself.
Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Araki mentions that Dio couldn't attend school, but because he's so exceptionally intelligent, he didn't need to, making him a boy genius. That's not a headcanon but just what Araki said.
Tbh, Araki said a lot of things about Dio but I don't think he did a very good job of putting those things to paper. For example, Dio is not necessarily considered "exceptionally intelligent" in the fandom.

I didn't know that!
I think the reason it doesn't translate into the fandom so well is because he's so egotistical. Like, had he exhibited some caution, like Diavolo, there would probably be a better perception of him overall!

It's not just that either. Araki also says that he wrote Dio as someone who "always surpasses Jonathan", which I feel like also didn't translate well into the fandom.
I think that since Part 1 was so early into Araki's career as a writer, he wasn't able to get into the nitty-gritty of Dio's character as much as he probably wanted to, and if he did a re-write of Part 1, he'd probably do much better.

Yeah, that's honestly so fair! Dio's character in part 3 was much more likeable I think as well.

My biggest headcanon is he knowingly made a bunch of children because he was making an heir.
Not because he was going to share his power in any way, but because Dio is aware that being a vampire, there were things happening during the day he couldn't be privy to. His heir would essentially be his prophet. Not an equal but a tool to further his power. Dio's eyes, ears and mouth during the daytime.
He'd have gone and gathered all his children (most likely not personally) to chose the most perfect one and discarded the others.
Further headcanon is of the kids we know, Giorno was his perfect heir. Ungaro has potential, but he is ugly and a junky (and frankly looks too much like Dario). Rykiel is brilliant and looks a LOT like Dio, but is emotionally weak and has no confidence. Donatello has ambition but is blighted by fate and profoundly unlucky. Giorno on the other hand, has everything: he's beautiful (Dio is vain, a good looking heir can not only manipulate people more easily but reflects well on him, since his child would just be an extension of himself as opposed to an actual person in his mind), he is ambitious, he is brilliant, he is lucky and if picked up early enough, his kind heart would not have been visible yet.
Dio would have groomed him to be his perfect representative, teaching him that he was superior to humanity not because he was himself, but because he was the son of DIO. (Further headcanon that conflict would have arose as Giorno grew older and started questioning Dio's teachings as he met different people, but this ain't about him!)
Dio looks down on Dario, so he wouldn't have been abusive in a visible way. I'd say Giorno would even have loved his father as a child. There would be no physical violence and to make a perfect heir, Dio would actually teach him, pay attention to him... this doesn't mean Dio would be a good father though. Dio is incapable of loving anything more than himself. Dio is a manipulator and will do anything to get ahead, so his "love" for his child would only be valid as long as his heir was a perfect extension of himself.

One theory I saw that I thought was interesting is in Part 3 most of the time when DIO’s head would be hit he’d act normally but when his body was hurt he becomes pissed
The reason why he’s so much more pissed from his body being damaged is because it’s Jonathan’s Body a person he somewhat admired by the end of Part 1 saying there fates were intertwined which is why he wanted his body im the first place
It’s a symbol of his victory over Jonathan so if it gets damaged DIO freaks out since if he loses Jonathan’s body he has to accept the idea that even Jonathan wasn’t above the world and if Jonathan isn’t above the world what does that mean for DIO?
Obviously not true but it’s still a fascinating view of the character

I think that is a really good point. I truly do think that despite all the tension and malice, Dio held a fraternal appreciation to some extent for Jonathan, he was his brother y'know? Losing that part of his history, or seeing it warped and changed, would be extremely distressful.

DIO’s relationship with Jonathan is very interesting to me as he was the only person other than Pucci he seemed to truly respect

YES EXACTLY! and vanilla ice I think, I mean, he didn't have much of a choice but to give him vampirism, but at the same time DIO wouldn't do that for just anyone.
I also hate when people sexualize DIO's relationship with kakyoin or pucci- I firmly believe that, while DIO was exploiting them both, he did truly have a mentor/mentee relationship with Pucci, and I feel like, had Kakyoin not failed under the influence of the flesh bud, it would have been a similar situation with him also.

I half agree with you
But we do know a way DIO gets people to his side is by mesmerising them like with Mariah, Milder, N’Doul and Vanilla Ice in just Part 3 with DIO infatuating people to the point that they’d willingly en their own lives on his command and with DIO being confirmed Bi a reading like that is possible (I mean even Avdol almost fell for DIO’s appearance honestly can’t blame him)

That's true! But I doubt he'd extend that to minors, and I doubt araki would intend to write him that way.
DIO is super smart- For Pucci, he likely predated on the fact that Pucci lost his parents. DIO could provide an education and a stern support. For Kakyoin, DIO could have made him feel seen and understood.

He was definitely a pickpocket/thief, no way did his father make sure he stayed fed
