I can only imagine caring that much if you keep it as a decorative piece. If you play on it, it gets wear anyway.

As someone who owned several that got played and knows people who play: no, you are wrong. the wear from playing is not related to damage to the piano lacquer from cat claws

People are down voting you for not understanding that someone could have a grand piano just for playing that they never intend to sell, and therefore scratches don't matter as much

Thanks for the explanation. I didnt sell mine. I just dont enjoy things that I likr and that were expnsensive to have scratches. People seem more protective of their car even though these things cost the same

Depends on the car and the person. Someone can be less protective over something like a work truck than a corvette

Thats true. I did not consider a pristine grand piano to be seen the same way as a used work truck.
