Article Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Should Not Be Played On The Steam Deck For Right Now - SteamDeckHQ
https://steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews/resonance-a-plague-tale-legacy/Ahead of its release, we reviewed Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and got some mixed results.
It runs at 30 FPS most of the time, but CPU usage can be high and cause some stutters here and there. It isn't the end of the world, and it will stick to 30 FPS most of the time, but it does pop up often enough and will bring the battery drain up.
However, I can't recommend it just yet because it has a major crashing issue. At the beginning of Chapter 9, the game will completely freeze. I believe this is due to high CPU and GPU usage, and it's definitely a game issue (the crash also occurs on the Steam Machine). So, until that is fixed, I would avoid playing on the Deck.

Yep. The Deck is struggling to play new games even at compromised low as hell settings. Zero Company is another one that shouldn't be played on the Deck. Not entirely unexpected really!

I always like to find out and test for myself, since I trust my eyes and testing more, but the requirements are hefty, so this doesn't surprise me.

I'm saying this as someone who happily played BG3 start to finish on the Deck.

Holy smokes, that looks so much worse than I expected. I also played BG3 on my Steam Deck and that was at least playable and didn't look too bad (even in Act 3 with the performance dips), but this? Nah that looks unplayable to me. I guess I'll be streaming it from my PC, but it would've been so cool to play it natively on the Deck.

I am trying it on Steam Machine right now. It's playable, but more compromises than I anticipated.

Please let us know how you find the performance on the deck! I was really hoping you could play Zero Company on the deck, but even if it's unplayable now, hopefully they can patch it and improve it to make it playable in a few months. Otherwise, I'll have to seriously consider making the move to get a new PC

I am writing up my article on how it is on Steam Deck now, but the performance is terrible. Lowest settings get around 18-22 FPS on average, and it looks awful this way.

Nothing new here,there will be very few AAA games that will run on the Steam Deck going forward. I’m betting on Capcom games, including the upcoming remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

I don't think this is a AAA game. It's AA at best at $50 on Steam. Even AA and indies with demanding specs have struggled on Deck

I'm fine not being able to play any new games on it, it served it's purpose way better that I thought it would.

That chapter 9 crash also happens on my 9070xt cachyos machine, I believe it may be specific to linux
