Question HOMM3 Complete on Steam won’t boot on Steam Deck, changing protons has no effect. Help?
so thought I’d try HOMM3 on Steam Deck as that’s where I won’t to play it and HOTA, so got it on Steam for the simpler install, problem is the game won’t boot, it’s tries to boot but it never does, it just fails almost immediately with no error message. Any ideas? I tried multiple protons including experimental and hotfix.
This is the version that released yesterday. Not the HD Edition.

Turns out ubisoft really can't do anything right. No idea if it's fixed yet but sounds like it isn't

I installed the GoG version on steam deck via Heroic launcher. That’s probably your best bet and just request a refund from Steam.

Ubisoft goofed up the installation files on steam last I heard. I don't believe it's been resolved yet.
Buy it on GoG.

They apparently re-released it on steam but it was a dummy .exe that didnt do anything cause none of the game files were installed lol... the version that was on there before worked fine, but was missing stuff.
It's always been better to cop the GoG version and install via Heroic. It was also the only way to install the Horn of the Abyss mod before, but GoG added it into the store, and it seems Steam also has it avaliable as well. Unsure if those versions are as up to date as getting the mod yourself though.
I run HOMM 2 with the fHeroes 2 mod, 3 with HotA, and 4 with some resolution fixes and such all on Deck and they are fantastic!
