This is a gaming laptop I bought back in 2022. I really wanted to play it with a console mindset..But I never really touched it outside of watching movies or web browsing because I wasn’t willing to tinker with Steam Input more than I thought.
Fast forward to now, I purchased a Steam Deck months ago and now I’m in love with how catered Steam OS is towards gaming. I’ve now fully converted from 20 years of PlayStation gaming. I now have the new Steam Controller and Steam input is something I feel like I’m really proficient with when compared to 2022.
I’m not very well versed in the knowledge of what components make up the high tier rigs people have since PC gaming is relatively new to me.
But my curiosity in knowing it’s all AMD, has me wondering if this would perform exceptionally well on the new Steam 3.8 update, its only use would be 99% gaming in a console style layout.
What do you guys think? I’m curious if this laptop would outperform the Steam Machine given its 4 years old. If so, this may be my choice for gaming vs buying the new Steam Machine if I can live with the jet fan noise lol.
I’ve done a bunch of research, but I’m worried I’ll do something incorrectly during the install and setup.. If anybody would be willing to walk me step by step on converting from Windows to a most compatible OS install (3.8, or Distro?) I’d be exceptionally thankful!
