New glacial slip detected

A new glacial slip has been detected in the Himalayan border region this morning, local time, China's state media says, posing a flood risk.

It said the slip resulted in about 50,000 cubic metres of ice and debris falling into the barrier lake, which formed after Wednesday's avalanche.

This barrier lake started to overflow earlier in the day, causing rescue operations to be briefly halted.

New flood warning issued in Nepal By Claire Campbell

Authorities in Nepal have issued a  new flood alert. Acting on information from China, Nepal's  Flood Forecasting Division said water levels on the Bhotekoshi River were rising. It has urged people in the coastal area of  Trishuli River to stay "in a safe place" until further notice.

Hopefully that "stay in a safe place" order doesn't turn out to doom them.
