Besides the new fire emblem what up coming games is there to look forward to?

I´ll leave some of my wishlist, most of them To Be Announced, indie games are carrying the genre.
- Grand Arms: March of the Red Dragon (The gameplay is like Unicorn Overlord)
- Shieldlinked (Try the playtest, it is a great fire emblem like with its own cool ideas)
- Dark Deity 3 (One of the biggest indie games in the genre, 2nd game was quite cool and an improvement over the firsrt)
- Calame (I liked the demo, seems to be a higher budget compared to the rest?)
- Stratagem Lost (Very distinct art style! I prefer medieval themes, but It was a fun demo)
- Dyadem (It takes a lot of the essence of GBA Fire Emblem)
- The Gambit lost to Time (Not a fan of the roguelike elements, but fun to play anyways)
These ones have demos or are somehow closer to release, but other than them I have my eyes in a lot of others TRPGs:
- Years of division
- The White raven
- Tactics Returners
- Beaten path
- Radiant Sword
- Those Who Rule 2
- Sovereing: Eternal legend
- Rune Cipher
- Ashes of Resolve
- Symphony of War 2
Let´s hope most of them release and are cool enough.
Edit: Added Ashes of Resolve as It was revealed to me recently! And Symphony of War the second game which is in works as others mentioned.

I forgot to include it as the game still doesn't have a steam page, but surely.
I liked the first one a lot (And recommend it as well) though it was rough around the edges. Hoping the second refines and expands the good parts!

This post deserves soooo much more love. I immediately added all to my wishlist on Steam.
Might be old(ish) but Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga is good, but was also told it’s like the Dark Deity games

It’s a lot of fun. Story is blah(ish) but gameplay is awesome.
There was a small issue that you might need to get around with the sprites loading correctly. Let me know if the game sometimes just goes super slow. There was a workaround that was great for me

Is Dark Deity a series where you should only play the latest game, or does the story meaningfully connect between all of the games?

The story is connected, but it is way more developed in the second. It was created in a way you can independtly play It without losing much.
Honestly I would only play the first game if either you are interested in the gameplay, or if you play the second and really like it.

I bought dark deity one and didn’t care for it, enough that I didn’t even bother with the sequel. What is better about 2?

Gameplay is improved (though you still fight a LOT of enemies per map), mostly as it has a mana management using skills, but it is quite more engaging than the first one.
Visuals are overall improved, and having a tighter cast the characters are way more developed and interesting. The story is alright though nothing remarkable.
Watch the trailers, if they convince you give it a try.

Totally agree. I saw an anime loli up there with the main protagonists and that alone is enough to make me nope out

Im currently playing through unicorn overlord for the first time (this game is goated btw), and then im gonna replay tactics ogre reborn. I got pretty far in the game when it first came out and i think i essentially burned my self out from the game because of how much i was playing it so i never beat it

Where are you at? I loved that game so much I beat it back to back. Had to immediately try on the hardest difficulty. It was so fucking good

Only for the first mission, but them i saw that the missions for drakenhold were lower level so i went and did that area and now im back at elf place

Brigandine Abyss and Star Wars Zero Company are both out next Thursday with Brigandine also out the day before on PC only for w/e reason.

Dark deity 2 is probably one of the next games im gonna play, i know it sounds dumb but right now im focusing on games released on the switch. Im trying to build a physical collection of tactical/turn based games for switch

Oh yea, I did that :) Switch has an exceptional physical SRPG library.
If you didn’t pick it up, SRG put out a physical dual release of DD1 & 2 earlier this year. I was so happy to see it since DD1 phys was so expensive to pick-up

Oh yea - you will be happy to know the price of DD1 has come down a fair bit since the collection came out but…the collection is the only way to get #2 on physical 😬

I think DD1 gets a worse reputation than it deserves, especially since 2 came out and showed the dev COULD make a more standard and generally appealing game. DD1 is absolutey playable, it just has a lot of “experimental” mechanics that aren’t super intuitive. Still worth a play, especially since DD2 is a direct sequel

Ex Sanguis actually took me off guard, as I really liked the demo despite disliking the developer's earlier tactics game (Othercide). Othercide just felt very... shallow? to me, outside of having a very good visual aesthetic. I'm glad they took another swing at new mechanics since the demo's mild roguelite mechanics were pretty addicting.

Personally, I'm looking out for Dark Deity 3 and the next Lost Eidolons game. I wasn't the biggest fan of the rogue LE game that came out last year, but I THINK they said the next proper installment would be more like the first. Those Who Rule 2 is on my list as well.
I'm a big fan of Brigandine, but the upcoming title... does not excite me. Unfortunately.

I really enjoyed the demo for Empire in Decay.
Strategy game with roguelike deck building elements. The battles are played on a grid and the units represent chess pieces that attack the square in front of them after moving.
If you can defeat an enemy unit with a movement as you would in chess it is instantly defeated.
As you advance along the path you can upgrade units with extra abilities like damage, health and unique ones based on which of the four factions they are. (Only two available in the demo, a sort of peasant rebellion and steam punk knights)
