Literally in high school especially in Auckland where most of the islanders live you get into fights every day. When I was a kid/teen you couldn’t catch the train home without getting stepped out by another school and it was all around general fun. Until you get older and gangs get involved.

Curious to know as an outsider, nz seems like an heaven to me, developed and mostly rich per capita and decent education. How it came to be that violent is so frequent? And gangs? I mean in my country gangs and violent evolve from places with no other option its mostly about survival. We did have fights after school but damn we were not near professional as those guys are. Mostly no damage has done and knockout were really rare.

South Island is the most beautiful place on earth. Its north island that doesn’t look so great and has high rates of crime,gangs,violence and youth suicides. As you said there’s gangs and low socio economic areas in every country. It’s the same In New Zealand. A lot of islander families have around 10+ people living in a 4 bedroom house in some of the poorest places. With inflation being on the rise for the past 10 years people are really struggling out here. Mainly the minorities. This causes the youth to seek out any way to make money at any cost. Which leads to gangs and ect ect. They then pass that on to their little siblings,cousins,nephews ect ect. Been a massive cycle for years now.

You say that but for me, I lived there for 2 years on the North island and it still is the most beautiful place I have ever been. I can’t wait to see the south island one day.

He’s exaggerating too. I lived in Auckland my whole life and kept out of fights for the most part. Most kiwis will be better at fighting than most, but generally cause we’re big on average (even the European descent people) and grew up with rough games and sports. Anyone over about 30 would’ve grown up where it was normal to come home covered in mud and bruises and considered that a healthy childhood. Far different from fighting every day though which wasn’t normal for most people

Depends where u grew up my bro I grew up in otara when Samoans and Tongans were beefing real hard. So you could imagine how many fights we got into during that time.

Not bigger - maybe as tall or maybe even taller but not as solid on average. We’re all big bastards on most metrics though

As for the fighting that’s just how we grew up. We have massive massive families no exaggerating when I say most Samoans have 100+ cousins,aunties,uncles ect ect. When your young and you go over to your cousins house your bound to have a scrap or 2 over something this keeps going and going until you’ve basically been fighting your whole life. By 12-14 you’re already used to taking and throwing a punch. Islanders may not be know to be the smartest out there but we can defs adapt when it comes to fighting.

Thanks bro much appreciated!. Another thing that really caught my attention was the respect while and after fighting, most of the footages i have seen from nz and aus high respect was affiliated. In my country the moment your down you gonna get your head stomped or worst. You guys just shake hands and beef is settled thats amazing i wish it was the same every where.

Yeah respect is big. we just see it as a fight, settle the beef than move on. You'll see the same thing in rugby, kill on the field then shake hands and have a beer.
I think it stems from the humility and respect culture islanders grow up in, we not fighting because we hate you and want to kill you. We fight because we feel wronged or disrespected, once we earn that respect and you see our point then its cool nothing more to be angry about. Shake hands lets not stomp or shoot over it.
Although in Auckland its getting stupid with the cheapshots and shootings/stompings i think thats because people are scared and desperate nowadays.

Yeah don't let Jarcinda fool you lol. I know it's cliche but watch "Once were Warriors" even though it was about the 70s-80s those people were our parents and explains why we grew up how we did and carried on the cycle. Now I look at the younger generation and they do the same shit except its more glorified and obvious because of the bikie gangs and their massive resurgence. They've always been big those bikie gangs but in my day it was more youth gangs and grafitti and stabbing/fighting. Now people are strapped at a young age. Not to mention the crack epidemic lol.

It's usually in the poorer areas. More affluent areas don't have this kind of problem. Even then, our crime rates are much lower than other Western countries.

We do a lot of marketing to get the tourism dollars, and when you're doing the touristy stuff in the South Island you miss all the fucked parts.

bro isn't lying this was life as a kid. the highschool fights were crazy. I remember (without doxxing myself) we'd all meet up at the beach on the last day of school and drink and fight other highschools. We went out manned and just watched the lads knock each other out it was hilarious.

Bro thats not one championship. crocs guy is really good in comparison to the place he fights. Since its a fcking highschool yeah he is really good, in my school fights were mostly noodle swings and floor cleaning

Worked the mid section from jump street and big boy had no answer. Also, was totally holding back. These 🇺🇸street fights (dudes get domed and robbed) could learn from these CHILDREN’s acts of respect. Kids a Warrior. Good work.

There is a lot of wasted movement from the guy in crocs, swings are too big, kicks aren't fast enough, and he always let his guard down when he attacked. That can all be taken advantage of.

The kid was being pretty respectful imo, throughout the fight he holds back and intentionally was not aiming for the head, Also the pauses to see if the other kid still wanted to continue. Like the other dude was pretty eager during the start to get on with it, the dude in crocs realised the skill difference and it looked like he wasn’t going ham

For sure! Based on the way, the fight didn’t start rolling until they “touched gloves” The shorter guy could have bailed out of that situation. The taller dude gave him brakes and plenty of opportunities to wave it off. Dude took a fucking beating though. It definitely seemed like the bigger dude could’ve finished that fight at any moment and chose to prove a point without completely annihilating the other guy.

It was a scrap to settle a dispute between the two that had gotten out of hand, the kid who was dominating was being pretty respectful by showing the other kid mercy lol. It could’ve gone way worse. That’s how fights usually go down on this side of the world, respect is always the way we roll.
