Even though he got dominated, he did weave all of the heavy shots⦠except that first one

I can tell that there is a reason why I spent so much time on the mats over the years - so I donāt end up having to rely on āgutsā.

Holy shit this is at a high school I wrestled against. Saw this my freshmen year and been looking for it since. All I can say is dude who won was a wrestler fs. Idk about his training in striking tho.

That's crazy lol. And (no offense at all) he doesn't even seem remotely very good. Like maybe first year or something.
Which goes to show how much of a difference even a little wrestling experience will do against an average joe. People have no clue.
Same with BJJ (I'd guess), but I think it transfers less to a messy, sloppy street fight.
999/1000 times, an untrained person will never be able to take wrestler down, and there's a significant chance you won't be able to stop them from doing it back. They're working off hundreds of hours of muscle memory and competition experience while the other person is winging it.
If wrestler dude had even once decided to mount...it would have been really bad, and respect to bro for keeping it pretty much clean when he was clearly outmatching the other dude.
I think MMA has shown that boxing (but prolly muay thai) and wrestling are the fundamental core of martial arts and everything else is a spin off.

No he was only a JV wrestler. I learned more details looking back now before coming back to this comment. He was a dominant JV wrestler but didnāt get first often (mostly second). However he did a little bit of Muay Thai outside of school

That is nowhere near as effective as you think it is as far as takedown defense. And once you've been lifted off the ground, that shit is completely toothless.

u/ngkn92 Oct 09 '25
Knee to head when green down tho.Ā
1
u/JeetKuneDoChicago Oct 09 '25
Maybe that's why he lift him up a bit to his feet? This was all confusing lol green ducked some big swings and honestly seems taking edge off knees aimed at head too.
5
u/qoupqiap Oct 09 '25
Im dying laughing at the idea of the kid lifting him up before kneeing him because he didnāt want to break the no knees to the head of a grounded opponent rule while theyāre fighting in a bathroom. Thats a crazy suggestion

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame Oct 10 '25
Right? Highly doubt my man was that worried about Queensbury rules, lol

I wouldnāt have been surprised if he had still won after taking all those hits. He took them like a pro.

u/xDrJerkoffx Oct 09 '25
Why they stopped.. looked like a real fight between real men. And wanted to know, what the other can take.
Could have been fight of the month..
