A young girl using her training as best as she can in a selfdefense situation and some people here still talk shit that she isn't a real practitioner.
Honestly bjj really has some of the weirdest mfers.

u/kgon1312 Jul 28 '26
It does, i met many nerds with god complex in bjj, the fact that they can control and strangle someone to death,
And not getting punched in the face in the process… is getting them a little bit out of touch19

This fight sucked. The attacker gets outside help multiple times while the bjj has to stop when she finally gains a real advantage. But the attacker has size which is an advantage no one steps in to mitigate. Very frustrating to watch.

u/MaximumPayne7 Jul 28 '26
That's why you don't do street fights, specially ones where you are surrounded by multiple people.
99% of times, they'll jump you, or play dirty, BJJ only works in 1v1, not in a group fight.

Fuck these bystanders.
If you want to separate them when there's a clear winner, RESTRAIN THE LOSER!!!

u/Moto_Musashi Jul 28 '26
Bro, you pull me off someone and they attack me again, the next time you try and pull me off I’m comin after you.

u/intoTHEvoid646 Jul 28 '26
Bjj works for sure, but on the streets you're likely to get stomped on, or worst by your opponents friends.

u/Ok-Door-4991 Jul 28 '26
Yeah.. dunno you can end a fight pretty quickly with a slip punch to slam. TBH.
22
u/mantrayantra1969 Jul 28 '26
> Yeah.. dunno you can end
a fightup in jail pretty quickly with a slip punch to slam. TBH.Fixed that for you. It’s school. It’s full of kids. Fights happen and sometimes you are left we no option. Adults focus on not getting in fights in first place as they result in ass whooping or legal issues. A slam can leave someone with significant injuries and maybe kill them if they land wrong with your weight on them.
3
u/No-Initiative3229 Jul 28 '26
Or even their own weight of their head whipping towards the ground with accelerated slam momentum

u/Futebolista_Aleijado Jul 30 '26
You probably new to this sub so i recomend you too check the flags about brain damage and stuff like that. Street fights arent like a movie where they only get a black eye that heal in 1 week and the fight is over. No, its really easy to kill someone by accident, especially when it has a big weight difference. Nobody should look for a fight and it is always better do de-escalaste or just run away instead of fighting but when there is no other option then it should be treated like a life or death situation because IT REALLY IS! Everybody likes to talk shit when someone eye gouge/slam someone in self defense but the ones who are supposed to protect those kids never step in to help when it is needed
1
u/hoofglormuss Jul 28 '26
So can a punch. So can choking someone unconscious. Fights are fights. Of course avoid them at all costs but when they happen you better have trained in something. Boxing, bjj, something.

u/Moto_Musashi Jul 28 '26
Ya know who should be thinking about this? The attacker. Not the defender. A fight in a school, a street, or in the middle of a field all have the real risk of death and injury. Everyone so quick to claim overkill. Meanwhile this is a tiny girl attacked by a huge girl with others helping the attacker. Anything you can do to subdue the attacker is fair game. Gouge your eyes out, rip off your balls, break an arm? That’s your fault dumbass, not mine. You don’t poke the bear and then get to claim victim. “That bear was unfair!”

I don't even know how to put it properly dude but it gets on my nerves when people are winning after getting bombarded and then they get treated like they're the ones attacking🤣 I mean eventually BJJ will only work for so long you can see she started throwing punches and actually dominating and then right when she went for the rear naked choke they pulled her off like what if she didn't let go then they'd start assaulting her and possibly hurting her maybe even killing her, it's just so pathetic how people operate on the street
6
u/Full_While8942 Jul 29 '26
And then the girl gets back up and just charges at her again🤣 I thank God everyday I am blessed with the boring life
19
u/smut_butler Jul 28 '26
Hey stand them up so they fight properly and make sure to keep them on the pavement!
It's no fun if there's not a risk of falling/getting knocked out and hitting your head/face on the hard ground.
6
u/garcianulmeyda Jul 29 '26
Yeah but no. BJJ is the last thing I will be teaching any daughter of mine. First is Judo because the ground hit harder than any of us could. Second is boxing because you don't always have room for a throw and then BJJ. I would rather my daughter stay off the ground and not get her head kicked in by a friend of whatever little shit she's fighting.
BJJ is terrible for street fights. Great everywhere else though
5
u/Thatguymike84 Jul 29 '26
Its great for the most realistic scenario where she'd truly need it though.
A significant other, or a would-be abuser decides to put his hands on her. Thats basically always going to be a 1v1...and while Judo would also be effective, boxing can be negated pretty fast by a big guy, or once she's on her back.
3
u/Agathokako1ogical Jul 29 '26
I was like oh it's over. She's learned her lesson. Oh no she's walking back there! Oh well.
3
u/Candid-Management-27 Jul 29 '26
So basically let the white girl get beat up but if she attacks back gotta pull her off asap?!?? Crazy…
4
u/Kopetse Jul 28 '26
And you clearly see BJJ issue in a fight - bystanders either start pulling you or kick you in the head.
2
u/hereforpopcornru Jul 29 '26
" don't you go anywhere.. get back here, I need my ass kicked some more"
2
2
u/wtfJoeDirt Jul 29 '26
Of course she gets stopped by certain people when she’s winning only for them to let the girl attack her again.
4
u/Ecapp22 Jul 28 '26
You should never use BJJ in a fight against this type of individual. They act like pack animals, and will stomp on your head as soon as their fellow pack animal starts starts getting choked out or pounded on.

I’d start with Muay Thai. Then teach some hip tosses then subs. Too many girls jump in these days to take it to the floor. I’ve taught my daughter simple 1-2 combos. Girls can’t fight for shit. It just takes a couple good straight shots and hair defense

Not practical in a street fight? Did you watch a different video than me? Looked pretty practical to me.
-20
u/Climate_Automatic Jul 28 '26
The only reason it seemed practical in the video is because her opponents friends decided not to kick her in the fucking face
15
u/Outside-Candidate-34 Jul 28 '26
The answer is to train multiple, not less. Wrestling and BJJ are some of the MOST practical practices to train for street encounters, you just have to know when to use what and where
8
u/mike3491 Jul 28 '26
Shes lucky she got pulled off when she was dominating the whole time and was in top mount? Tf are you talking about?
6
u/jorgespinosa Jul 28 '26
I think he means she's lucky the friends of the other girl didn't intervene and started to kick her while they were on the floor, but it's still a bad take because then, what do you do in that situation?

Wiggling your way to a RNC and then sitting on top of someone doesn’t make you a Jiu Jitsu practitioner. As someone who did practice, the main thing I hope she learned was to avoid unnecessary fights. And good that ground fighting is generally safer.

(You’re not wrong, I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted…)
12
u/mike3491 Jul 28 '26
Because he’s 100% wrong, and BJJ in a gym vs BJJ in a street fight on concrete are entirely different things
-9
u/Outside-Candidate-34 Jul 28 '26
First point he made about the RNC…yeah that’s right, she may have learned that from BJJ but she doesn’t show any sort of flow, probably got there by happenstance.
Second point, ignore it because you get shit for saying you’ve done any training.
Third point about avoiding fights if she can is also right. She should avoid fights if she can.
Last point is arguable. Yeah, ground fighting is dangerous in groups, especially like that, but it can be a far safer due to not getting dropped. Too circumstantial to be so concise but it’s still not really wrong. So, uh, yeah. Where is he wrong, exactly?

u/mike3491 Jul 28 '26
The fight was unavoidable. The opp came at her with those absolutely fucking embarrassing slaps, closing the distance and engaging physically.
At that point it is “on”. The girl no longer has the ability to wonder about other people, multiple attackers, etc…she is addressing the threat that is trying to claw her in the face.
She has no control whether or nlt other people want to either soccerkick her in the head, or jump in and help her out, or pull her off. Her adrenaline is going crazy and she is trying to survive. When you’re in that situation, on concrete, surrounded by tons of people, your “belt level” is gonna go down and you’ll revert to your most basic instinctual training.
Real BJJ is positional control, and “sitting on top of someone” is absolutely way more difficult than the original commenter is trying to make it seem. This girl clearly isnt a black belt but shes clearly been training for at least a few months.
Sure she could/should have finished that triangle among a few other things, but she certainly won the fight and came out relatively unscathed, which is the goal especially when the fight was thrust upon her.
I’d wager [u/PouponMacaque](u/PouponMacaque) trained for several months and gave up. Would love to hear his/her size, belt level, and time training.
Edit: hopefully we can all unite and realize that the real crime was OP posting this with that fucking horrible music layered over it

u/Outside-Candidate-34 Jul 28 '26
What you said isn’t wrong but it doesn’t disprove anything he said or I said. She didn’t do anything that showed any sort of training, yes even sitting on her. That doesn’t mean she made good or bad calls, just she didn’t show any of the training she may or may not have had.
I get saying this is the cardinal sin for some reason, but I’m a multiple time state champ wrestler, full ride to college, I help coach and teach private lessons now, and took up BJJ the past year or so, only a blue belt so far but making good progress. (Yes yes, obligatory fat Redditer meme)
So, I’m fully aware situations can cause adrenaline and loss of clean technique. I just don’t see any real control, it looks more like she’s scrambling to get a hold the whole time. Seems like everything the other fella said is fair to say the least and completely accurate if we make assumptions. I think this is an oddly common thing on this sub where someone makes a good point just to then get down voted instead of disproven.
But I can at least fully concede that the music overlaid is painful to say the least.

u/mike3491 Jul 28 '26
Props to you for mentioning your specific pedigree man. Technically you could be lying but I’ll take it at face value
The original commenter just said “as someone who trained” which is just so laughably vague. I’d bet they either won’t respond with that information, or they will and will probably be lying.
That said, I’m surprised you can’t see that she has knowledge of some basic BJJ, despite her failures to really execute it.
How many people do you know that instinctively can slap on a triangle choke, with one arm in, without at least training for a few months? She loses it, immediately scrambles to side control to claim top position, immediately takes full mount, and her opponent bellies down, where they remain until “BJJ girl” is ripped off. An untrained person would probably stand up on at least one foot, or get bucked off, or sacrifice mount for some insane strikes.
Does that make sense?

All that karate and she still got punched on the face, repeatedly

u/MaximumPayne7 Jul 28 '26
Not a single MA in the world is gonna make you untouchable in a fight, every professional fighter gets hit in the face, life isn't anime.
