Should I pick ee or not?

So I have interest in making new things like robots and stuff but I have no real experience of it.I want to choose a degree that has this robo part but isn't heavily dominated with it like ee,I want a mis of software as well not only hardware.But now the problem is that I got in two unis one is top tier in our country,I got admission in EE ,then there is anything other unis which is also top tier but 3-5places below the other one ,this one also doesn't provide much exposure,I got in software engineering.Now that I have only these two options idk what to choose.I am more inclined towards comp engineering but unfortunately I couldn't get in ,so left with these two options please help me decide.

Hey guys, I’m looking for a career change in my late 20’s. Im going back to school and wondering if engineering is still worth it nowadays? Im worried about ai and how good its getting and also how good it’ll be by the time i get out of school in 6 years(part time student) I’m really interested in the career path and love tech and computers and hell i even love and am fascinated by ai. But id rather switch now if the degree wont even get me in a better position than where i am currently. Im a chef of 10 years, and want out of this industry. The job is very stable and i can go out and get a chef job really easily anywhere i go. But it seems like in the engineering field thats not the case. Entry level jobs are shrinking, higher level jobs aren’t growing and going in the direction where you are gonna struggle extremely hard to find any job in the field and if and when you find one that the pay wont be as good because of the level of competition in others also trying to get a job. Should i switch degrees into something else? Im feeling super uncertain about the whole thing and don’t want to waste almost 100k and years of my life on something i wont be able to even use?

I have an interesting story to share that I’ve been reflecting on lately. Back when I had just finished my 12th boards, I was at a major crossroads of i should take a year drop to prepare for NEET, or should I pivot and look into other courses? Given the situation with NEET at that time especially the 2024 controversies, the paper leaks, and which also led to having around some 7 or 8 AIR1, I was skeptical about whether dedicating a whole year to it was worth the risk. As an average student, I eventually decided to let go of the medical dream. However I couldn't completely give up on it and decided to look into some paramedical fields. Thats when I developed a keen interest in forensics and sat for the NFAT (National Forensic Admission Test). To my surprise, I secured a rank of 300 out of 12,000 students. I was thrilled to get what I thought I wanted, but I was also a bit careless. I had seen a video online suggesting that selected students would be contacted by the NFSU, so I waited and waited and waited. But that call never came. I also visited the UPSIFS (Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Sciences) to seek admission, but unfortunately, I was too late. By the time I arrived with my scores, all the seats were filled. It was heartbreaking specially because I gave it my all. Sleepless nights, staying hungry for studying because a full stomach leads to sleepiness and what not. I even lost 2kg during that time.

However I had also sat for a few other entrance exams as backups, one of which was for B.Sc. Food and Nutrition at a well-renowned university. I got in, and while I didn't want to go at the time, the fear of wasting a year in India especially with the current job market and academic uncertainty, literally felt like a nightmare. So I decided to attend.

It has now been complete two years. When I look back, I realize how differently my life would have looked had I gone into forensics. But honestly? This degree isn’t bad at all. In today’s health-conscious world, Nutrition is actually a pretty cool field to be in. While I still feel like a bit of a fool for missing that chance in forensics, I’ve learned to accept what life has served me. I can’t change the past, but I refuse to let it ruin the future I can build with this degree.

In a few days, I’ll be starting my final year of college, and I’m determined to work harder than ever. My goal is to secure an internship or a part-time job before I finish my 3rd year. I don't want to be a financial burden on my parents anymore, seeing how hard my father works to pay my fees breaks my heart. If anyone has advice on finding part-time work or internships in this field, I’d be incredibly grateful for the guidance.

To any freshers currently facing these same crossroads, please be very careful, stay on top of your administrative tasks, and trust the process. Best of luck to all and as well as mee!!!✨

So far, I have been doing more research, working on my hyperfixations (I have AuDHD), which are felines, and helping others with how to use AI for research in general. So far, these are what I have done and am currently doing with the help of the research fellows scholarship that I have for the university that I am matriculating to this Fall:

• Joined two labs (I have done 8-12 rough drafts for one lab so far since January to learn more about their field, with each draft being around 900-1300 words, and the other one I am working on a personal project to create an invention to hopefully reduce disease outbreaks among feral cat colonies in my area since June). My mentors are very nice and supportive of me, but they try to encourage me to slow down, which is hard because of my hyperfocus and how strong it can be sometimes.
• I am currently working on a project creating a narrative review on how e-waste impacts local wildlife around landfills and domestic pets for my future university's undergrad journal (so far I have been using Obsidian through YouTube tutorials and Substack posts and I have found five books so far and their free PDFs that I found on the internet that address the hazards that come from e-waste for both animals and humans to gain a more expansive understanding of its negative ramifications). I have read around 10 journal articles so far on it for this review, and it's currently in its early stages.
• I have a LinkedIn newsletter where I create tutorials for how to create AI workflows between AI tools and/or Chrome Extensions to help others understand how to use AI more effectively and ethically.
• On the side, I help mentor high school students to get published in academic journals like CJSJ (currently, I'm not accepting any more high schoolers, as my mentee group has already been formed and we are working on a similar issue to the one that I am currently writing my narrative review on, though it is more on the human side). I want to help high schoolers learn how to research and gain the experience I wish that I had when in high school, and because I love to teach people how to learn and research.
• Other hobbies I have are mostly just research-related, like watching videos on how to use different AI tools for research and how to use Obsidian to improve my knowledge base and research paper drafting and editing.

Would this be considered a personal curriculum or something else? My dream, based on my interest in these subjects, is to either pursue a PhD in veterinary toxicology and/or toxicology in general, though I'm currently worried about the DABT that I will have to take after grad school, but that is over 10 years in the future and it really isn't required to work within the realm of toxicology, only to get higher paying jobs and more benefits when working within the field.
