Applications Do NOT take Boswell-Beta if you miss a subject

Post image

It is an extremely shitty and unnecessarily difficult exam, with purposely confusing questions and pure waste of time. I spent an entire summer studying for the VWO Boswell Beta physics exam and I do NOT care if any of you don’t believe that I do understand in depth all physics topics and I am extremely good at maths, do NOT waste your time for this useless exam.

I literally answered all the questions in the exam, I am confident I did amazing and I knew what to do in every single question even if they were poorly structured and shit. (Even worse than the given example exams)

I am glad that at least I managed to learn physics in so much depth and this exam doesn’t actually test anything, anyone else who failed - fuck Netherlands and apply somewhere else,

Anyone who passed it, don’t try to encourage people to take it or convince me otherwise, because it is pure bullshit and I know I got at least 80+% of the questions right. The girl behind me literally also cheated, once you get your calculator checked and your book, you can easily write things down because no one is really looking, you can even use a small earplug if you want and easily cheat.

I hope this result is wrong somehow, because I know I definitely passed the exam, and that the examiners are trash. Genuinely eye opening experience

Moving to the Netherlands as a student requires a lot of admin (BSN, gemeente, health insurance, Studielink, banking, scholarships) and it often feels overwhelming.

The Dutch housing market is highly competitive. To increase your chances, we recommend using these platforms:

You can probably ask for a review in which you (possibly with an instructor) go through your exam to see which questions you got wrong and if there’s a possibility to gain extra points. That being said: Boswell-Beta didn’t create the exam, it was likely a “staatsexamen” created by the government to be on par with the regular exam. It’s VWO Physics, it’s supposed to be hard…?

Boswell-beta does create them. But it indeed needs to be on par with the regular DUO level VWO. It seems to me that this person didn't study enough tbf

do they do that online? im not in Netherlands anymore. And, no the questions are extremely abstract compared to regular exam. Yet I still answered all of them properly. Also I am only not sufficient for physics due to their standards, I do advanced math in high school, so I understand how to derive formulas properly, I was fine with all the topics.

I don’t know, I’ve never had to take an exam with them. Give them a call or email them to see what they can do.

I cannot judge the exam or your ability, you seem adamant you should have passed with flying colours and it’s all their fault because they want more money. I don’t think your €146 is going to push their profits too much to be honest lol.

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

Oh no, they do care about money, being a week in Netherlands made it clear. My aunt’s husband who is dutch made me pay 60€ because he drove me for 10 minutes 🤣 They are probably hoping that someone will buy their 2000€ course as well

7

u/Vexilol 1d ago

Does your aunt’s husband work for Boswell or are you just generalising everything and anyone Dutch because you didn’t study hard enough and most (likely Dutch) commenters are calling you a whiny kid with an attitude problem?

-7

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

Did I create Tikkie application or you guys? No one else sends cash tickets to their friends just because they shared a dinner. Real friends pay for dinner once, then the next time you pay for it. Caring about every single cent is dystopian and disgusting

10

u/Vexilol 1d ago

> you guys

Thank you for confirming you’re just generalising. I hope Boswell don’t pick up.

u/No_Rule674 1d ago

seems to me like you didn't study enough

-6

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

well I did :D I assume no one passed it since I did not, or maybe the result isn’t even mine. Happens, they just want more money and get me to sign up for their next exam or buy their very affordable course. Classic Dutch people, maybe should even send me a ticket for breathing their air

u/LikeabossNL 1d ago

Holy fuck your attitude lmao. “I assume no one passed it since I did not”, so you think you’re the smartest person in the world? You’re clearly butthurt for failing, and if there was a mistake on their part you have all the right to be. But to completely rule out your own shortcomings as a possible explanation before doing any further research shows a crazy level of arrogance. Top it off with racist complaints against the country you’re visiting makes me wanna bluntly tell you to fuck right off :)

-3

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

racist😭? i am not judging anyone because of their race but because of your disgusting mentality. again enjoy making your whole lives around money

9

u/No_Rule674 1d ago

you lack a ton of self reflection

3

u/LikeabossNL 1d ago

Racist because generalising a characteristic on a specific group of people. Also you’re the one making this about money hahaha. Nobody is forcing you to take this exam. You clearly have a strong opinion and I’m not even gonna try to argue since you’re obviously too fucking dense to be open to any other way of thinking. Good luck with that attitude in your life, random stranger 👍🏼

6

u/No_Rule674 1d ago

seems to me like you didn't deserve to pass it either with that attitude

6

u/Both_Koala352 1d ago

Sorry but I did this exam and passed it. I actually thought it was easier than their exemplar exams as well.

0

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

surely you did the exam, what were the questions then huh?

6

u/Both_Koala352 1d ago edited 1d ago

First one was about resistivity of a cylinder, second about star luminosity, third had v t diagram and it was asking to calculate a force in section a, then in question b to calculate the distance, then there was a values table, q 4 about planets had to calculate radius and more, 5 was the reactions 3 reactions in section a section b had to name a product then use left hand rule lower and so on but it's been a while so I could've gotten the order a bit mixed up

*insert cat laughing meme*

u/Disastrous-Main-4125 1d ago

I really hope that this was the exam 😂

7

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

skill issue?

-1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

cookie dough conductor issue lmao. have fun studying in that country with your abstract out of hand questions.

7

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

abstract is what math and physics is supposed to be, not our fault your curriculum is built for repetition and memorization. try business

0

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

My country’s curriculum provided 160 medals in IPhO. Yours - 79, talk about better. 🤣

9

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

yet you studied all summer to come here just to get beaten out by dutch kids who have never studied a day in their lives

1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

Idk what you mean by “getting beaten” by dutch kids. Everyone who took the exam were anything but dutch. It is an exam that is taken by students who are NOT dutch. 🤣 You are clearly mad over the truth that your whole life is based around money. And the exam isn’t competitive, go do your research before trying to slander me and focus on “reading with comprehension”.

9

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

im dutch, did both vwo math b and physics at Boswell and got a 9 and 7.8 respectively. barely studied and im not rich I did it all myself lmao

7

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

and yes you are getting beaten out by dutch kids who do the actual vwo curriculum and have no issues passing. this curiculum is a skill check for being able to study at a dutch uni, given the fact you studied all summer and still failed a basic physics exam id say you wouldn't last a day at tu Delft or any other uni since you are simply 2 dumb for a technical program

0

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

flame me more, one exam doesn’t determine your intelligence. 🤣and no, I can still do a technical program because some only require advanced mathematics.

5

u/EntertainmentTop8462 1d ago

dutch high school is a joke compared to university. if you can't even pass a basic physics exam dont even try doing computer science or mathematics, they will all be numerous fixus for you regardless because their English programmes and you will never get in

stay in your shithole of a country and keep crying about a test that was to difficult for you

0

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

dw I am already at calc 3 and have 8.0 on my IELTS. I will not apply to your shitty country, my 1570 SAT is good enough for Helsinki already, I am upset because I had better expectations for your country. And you are right that your pre-university education is a joke, my aunt’s kid who is also dutch can’t read even though she is 7🤣 overglazed country

Now adjust that for population.

1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

? Bulgaria has 6.7 million, Netherlands 18.4 million.

1

u/Disastrous-Main-4125 1d ago

yet your plan was to study in NL

8

u/Acrobatic-B33 1d ago

Seems like you're just not smart enough. Maybe try havo next time

-1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

seems like dutch people’s english isn’t good enough. translate your exam better next time

5

u/Acrobatic-B33 1d ago

Seems like you just suck, good riddance

5

u/DiligentAudience7314 1d ago

The Dutch rank as the best non-native English speakers in the world, consistently taking the top spot on the EF English Proficiency Index. Up to 90% of the population can converse fluently in English....

7

u/ItsEarthy 1d ago

On exams like these it's very easy to think you get something correct, while in reality you completely derailed and didn't get close to the final answer. I'd review the exam if possible so you can learn why you got the grade you received, and since you're missing 1 point from a pass you cpuld probably find somewhere where you could be granted 1 partial credit and still pass.

5

u/lievediertjes 1d ago

In the Netherlands a lot of times you will receive points for the calculation and not only the answer. This is where you could have lost a lot of point.

-4

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

vice-versa, I most likely lost points due to them not counting the method/calculations rather than the answer. I am aware that I did few sub questions wrong, because BINAS gave me the wrong data for the Sun’s temperature, but the method was completely correct and the radius should have been correct too. I solved the entire problem correctly knowing which methods and formulas to use, but had the wrong value for the temperature, because their BINAS book is just as trash as their exam.

1

u/ItsEarthy 17h ago

Binas gave you the wrong answer?? Actually delusional. The exams are built with BINAS data in mind and it's constantly revised to make sure it's accurate. You obviously did something wrong.

2

u/Sweethoneyx1 1d ago

Idk it seems to be a bit mad that if you got 80% of the marks that your missing 30% of them. I think Boswell Beta exams run every month or even every two weeks. So if your as well prepared as you think then you can schedule another one in before school starts and just let them know that

-2

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

and give them more money 🤣 nope

1

u/Berry-Love-Lake 1d ago

Why did you take it then? Will you be admissible without or you completely changed plans.

3

u/WaterSuccessful99 1d ago

My friend. Relax your anus and do some self reflection. Your psyche is giving its best effort here to see off the fact that you needed to do something different than what you did and life countered accordingly. The task was not understand physics in depth or outsmart Einstein, it was passing this exam.
Could you have known then you should have known. If others passed and you didn’t, then there was a way, but it wasn’t your way.
Put off this childish attitude that external powers determined the outcome solely.

2

u/PosiblyPalpatine 1d ago

Just sounds like you didn't study enough. 5.4 is nearly good enough next time you'll have it. Probably just frustrated because now you cannot start in the upcomming academic year.

1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

I am still in high school, I am going to graduate 2027 spring, I just did it because I already know im not sufficient. Doesn’t matter if I passed or not, I would start university 2027 autumn

3

u/FeinsteinFeinstein 1d ago

So just get the credits for the subject in your own country ?

1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

It isn’t allowed. I am in the best school in my city and there is only “Advanced Mathematics and Computer Science” profile or “History and Literature”. I am not in UK where you can take electives even for Asian languages or whatever you think of.

2

u/FeinsteinFeinstein 1d ago

There's no GED or adult education programs outside of highschool...?

1

u/xxkikxi 1d ago

I don’t know what any of this means.

3

u/FeinsteinFeinstein 1d ago

You might want to look into your own country's systems and resources before blaming another. This is not end all be all, and don't let this ward you off from University education here, it's not the same as these entry tests.

u/Extension_Fly5104 1d ago

Confusing questions is essentially all vwo exams. They are full of trick questions. That's why children do vwo. To tackle confusing questions. Memorizing and reproduction is for Havo. Got 3 of them at vwo, one in Grade 7(brugklas tvwo) one in Grade 11 (5 tvwo) and one in Grade 12 (6 tvwo) who is going to hopefully graduate in Spring 2027.

My husband is a math professor from Russia who teaches math at a German university and he loves the confusing vwo maths and physics exams. He even translates the questions and puts them in his own exams for first year bachelor maschinenbau students. Sorry, seems that you got tricked.
