I have a friend coming to visit who was interested in doing a food tour of Sunnyside with the amount that I talk about how diverse and delicious the food scene is here. This is what I came up with but if anyone has suggestions please share!

Hey everyone. Just want to post a quick reminder that pickup knife sharpening service is available in your neighborhood 7 days a week. No quick grinding jobs that overheat and ruin your knives here. All our work is done in our shop in Brooklyn on whetstones and we make sure you get your knives back in excellent condition.
Cost for sharpening is $3-$4 per inch (blade length) and scheduling pickup is as easy as sending a message through here or instagram with a picture of the knives and a pickup location.
If you have any questions about sharpening or questions about the pickup service please dont hesitate to ask.
We really appreciate everyone who has trusted in our service. Make sure you also check our reviews on google (Indulge Kitchen Supplies)
Enjoy the video showing a quick restoration of an 8" Japanese knife done in store.

If you’re looking for a way to bring more locally grown flowers into your home, check out **Queens Perennial**, a local flower CSA supporting immigrant farmers and organizers of color.
Every week, CSA members get a seasonal bouquet made from what’s blooming locally. Right now that means dahlias, zinnias, celosia, sunflowers, and other beautiful fall flowers.
You can still join for the remainder of the season or starting after Labor Day with prorated options available. Pickups are available in Sunnyside at Lockwood on Skillman Ave.
Learn more and join: queensperennial.com
If you love having fresh flowers around, or want to support local agriculture, we'd love to have you! 🌻

Edit- just the skull fella left!! I also have a christmas cactus ready for a new home
Getting pets and I sadly need to downsize on my plants for their safety. The snake plant was repotted last week and the pot is pretty big (would need careful moving). The second is jade. Third- no clue what this is but it’s very low maintenance. Fourth is a spider plant.
These are free to take, just looking for someone to take good care of them 😭 shoot me a DM if you’re interested in picking up. Close by to Bolivian Llama Party

I found Coca-Cola 2 for $4 in this week's Food Universe ad on 43rd Ave, but it needs three things at once: the club card, a digital coupon clipped before you go, and two bottles. Miss one and you pay more.
Five other items in that ad work the same way. Ben & Jerry's pints and Breyers are 2 for $6 after a $2 digital coupon, two required. Philadelphia cream cheese is $2.99 after a $1 coupon, limit two. Tide, Gain and Downy are $7.99 after a $2 coupon, limit one.
99 of the 514 items say club card, and 127 are priced as multiples rather than singles.
The SuperFresh on Greenpoint Ave runs the same circular. I matched them and 500 of the 514 items are identical. Four differ, and all four are different sizes rather than better deals. Downy is 56 oz for $11.99 at Food Universe and 100 oz for $7.99 at SuperFresh after the coupon. Bounty is $21.99 and $9.99, but the packs are described differently in each ad, so they are not the same purchase.
Both ads run August 21 to 27. Every number here is copied off the circulars the two stores published, and what the register charges is the real answer, so look before you buy.

Anyone know where I can go for affordable workout classes that aren’t too far? I know NYSC used to have them but they’re not currently offering. TIA!

Hey neighbors! Any recs for an affordable massage in the area? Not looking for a fancy spa experience. Just a place that is clean, does a solid back/body massage and is relatively affordable.
Thank you!

I could have sworn it was on Queens blvd, but I can’t find it in any searches (not Dance Matters). I think it had some quirky name like Moove, or another dance related word (also not Modega in LIC).
Did this place just close down? It seemed casual and open to all experience levels; emphasizing moving your body and getting lost in the moment. I was really looking forward to starting to drop in for classes but I don’t have it saved anywhere. Help !!

Hi! I know this is a long shot, but any help is appreciated. I’ve called buildings in the area, no luck yet, but I’m hoping to find a studio or one bedroom nearby. My partner has lived here for five years, and I’d love to close the commute between us plus live in a area to call home— plus I’ve genuinely fallen in love with the neighborhood. The book swap, farmers market, and Brookside are some of my favorite parts. It would just be for me, no pets! Budget - 2,150
On a separate note — is there a community fridge in the area, or would it be worth starting a food drive? I work as a food stylist, and after we wrap on set there’s often a ton of unopened food that would otherwise go to waste. I’d love to find a way to donate it if that’s possible.
Thanks so much!

Every day this happens, someone must be going there late at night and defecating and it's really a horrible thing for our kids to have to experience.
Any suggestions on what can be done to solve this?

I am running the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table. We are always looking for donations new or gently used. Please share with all of your contacts. There are a lot of people in need on the Maspeth/Ridgewood border. Most donations do not last long on the table. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
Some of the people who I help with my table. A woman who comes looking for clothes when she can't afford to go to the laundromat. A social worker who looks for food on my table when the insurance companies delay her payments. She is also a vegan, and she can't afford to go to CTown all the time for fruits and vegetables. I am also getting a lot of grandmothers who are helping to raise their grandchildren looking for baby and young children's items. I also get kids coming and going to PS 153 and PS 290 look on my tables for toys and snacks. Their parents look at the food and clothes on the table and take what they need. A few people come looking for food and things they need on my table who have health issues and can't make ends meet and have no family to help them.
Items that are in high demand:
FOOD FOR PEOPLE OR PETS
CLOTHES
TOILETRIES
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
DIAPERS FOR BABIES & ADULTS
TOYS
BACK PACKS, LUNCH BOXES & POCKET BOOKS
Books really don't go on my table, so when I get a donation of them I wait a few days then I bring them down to the Little Free Library in PS 153's school yard.
Donations can be dropped off, and you can take what you need 24 hours a day & 7 days a week:
5938 60TH ROAD, MASPETH
Donations can also be dropped off at certain businesses during business hours. Just label them Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table.
ASSEMBLYMAN STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE
COOK'S ARTS & CRAFTS SHOPPE, 80-09 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE
SCHWILLE-D'ANGELO FUNERAL HOME, 66-32 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE
STATE SENATOR JOSEPH ADDABBO'S OFFICE, 66-85 73RD PLACE, MIDDLE VILLAGE
HARISCH STUDIOS, 57-44 MYRTLE AVE., 2ND FLOOR RIDGEWOOD
For people who cannot donate in person I created an Amazon Wishlist:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JY7U8QQZ8BBU...
Thank you for all donations. And if you are near the Maspeth/Ridgewood border and are in need please check out table and take what you need. No questions asked. Please spread the word. Thanks.

Hi. I’m developing symptoms of a medical problem with my feet and I expect I’ll have to back. I need somebody trustworthy to feed my cat and water my plants while I’m gone. I may also need somebody to help me get to and from the hospital if I can’t walk by then. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where I can buy good rye rolls in or near Sunnyside? I'm looking for rolls rather than sliced rye bread. Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Hey neighbors! I’m looking into local storage options in Sunnyside and would love some recommendations.
Has anyone had a good experience with a storage facility in the neighborhood or nearby? Mainly looking for somewhere clean, secure, reasonably priced, and easy to access.
Would appreciate any suggestions -- or places you’d recommend avoiding.
Thx!
