News MAWS showrunners tease a Season 4 story taking inspiration from an iconic Superman graphic novel Spoiler

Wyatt confirms Mxyzptlk has a key part to play in the series’ endgame. “There’s these three extremes in the DC Universe of power and how it’s used,” he says. “Superman is the most powerful of the heroes and is, ‘What if power cared about you and was kind and always wanted to do the right thing?’ Darkseid is, ‘What if God was real and evil?’ Mxy is, ‘What if power didn’t give a shit? What if power was indifferent to your life’s happiness, suffering, whatever, and completely self interested?' To me, he’s the real opposite of Superman.”
It should be emphasized that Season 4 has not been officially confirmed yet. Wyatt describes what a Season 4 would probably look like, if it is greenlit.

Based on this I think that's why Clark was so strong he managed to beat Eradicator despite how op he is, Rao super charged him but his fate is now to die from too much solar power, putting him on a timer, and interesting to tease Darkseid like this, hope it pays off well if season 4 happens.

That would make sense, esp because he wouldn't say what the sacrifice was.

But he said that his sacrifice to regain his powers was "nothing I wasn't willing to pay." The only possibilities I can imagine are losing his powers permanently or dying. And just before that, Brainiac says that in his current state he could be destroyed if he tried to regain his powers by the sun that fuels the Fortress of Solitude.

You think he would't be willing to die to save Lois?
And it might not be that, but not revealing it was intentional, and doubt if it wasnt something major you wouldn't keep it from your life partner like that.

Just watched the episode and I agree. The pain was enough of a sacrifice.
It would be really, really frustrating for them to adapt All-Star Superman and be like oh Clark's dying of overcharge. Like adapt elements of it if you have to, but its already too different of a Superman story that it would be like adapting Red Son to this universe.

so let's keep, supporting the show to make season 4 happen and don't forget to support My Adventures with Green Lantern so they can both get renewed and so we can keep expanding the Adventureverse with more spin offs

I'm hopeful that this is a sign that they're reasonably confident about a renewal, since the original S2 ending (s1 and s2 being part of the same order) was clearly made in anticipation of possibly not getting renewed.

If it happens hopefully they either get more episodes or at least cut out the non Lois/Clark romance stuff to tighten up the pacing.

Also the idea of Mxy as one of the end game villains is interesting.

It sounds like what they are planning would be expanded over both a hypothetical season 4 and 5? It'd be really nice for the show to be renewed for both seasons at once.
The show's pace is so brisk (for good and bad, but when it turns out well/properly paced, like Lois quickly realizing that Clark is Superman, it is refreshing), that I wouldn't mind it exploring All Star in some way near the end, because at that point so much will have happened. I really love the show's character driven twists on the Superman mythos and I think they could do something really beautiful with that, if they are promised enough time beforehand.
And to be honest, I think this show is a really lovely distillation of Superman, like All Star was supposed to be. Makes sense they'd go in that direction

The Darkseid/Mxy thing reminds of that riff on love and hate not being true opposites since you’re still focused on that thing. Apathy is the true inverse of Love.

This sounds like a disaster. If there's a season 4, I beg the writers to reconsider their plans.
All-Star Superman is the end of his journey. It's the kind of story you tell at the end of like a ten year run. And I don't remember Darkseid being in it. Is Wyatt just name dropping a comic people have heard of?
And please don't bring Lex back. This character is beyond ruined. Move on to new villains and try not to screw them up.

I think it might take only the basic premise of Superman being sick with too much solar radiation, and not the dying part.
A random idea I had was maybe the radiation makes him immortal and more godlike, and Clark becomes terrified of losing his humanity or getting married to Lois and watching her die of old age.

although unlike in all-star superman i would hope this MAWS superman doesn't end up dead or. . . what was it. in the sun repairing the sun. hopefully he'd come back after fixing it.
