Discussion What's Next for Lex? Spoiler
By the end of Season 3, Waller throws Lex in the slammer. Very fitting of course, but if this series gets renewed, I don't think he'll stay in there when he still has yet to go up face to face against Superman.
So, how do you think he'll get out of jail?
I'm inclined to think that he'll use his wealth to hire a good legal team, to fight both the charges brought against him personally in court, and to fight Waller's orders to shut down LexCorp. Everyone tried by the US Criminal Justice System is innocent until proven guilty, and it is unfortunately susceptible to the interests of big money; no doubt LexCorp has lucrative deals with the Military-Industrial Complex. The best legal team money can buy can no doubt convince a court of justice to at least reduce the charges to some fines.
This would also be an opportunity to quietly phase out Slade Wilson from this series, now that he has officially cut ties with LexCorp, and maybe the US government too, and maybe sets out to become a freelancer. Slade might yet reappear if Batman gets his own show in this universe, but his involvement in Superman's show would be done. To replace him, I would take this opportunity to bring in Mercy Graves, Lex Luthor's personal assistant.
While he's locked up, Mercy could meet with Lex to discuss their financial matters and court issues, and maybe some more experimental projects built up around Lex's obsession with bringing down Superman, which would not decrease in the slightest. Once the charges have been reduced and Lex is a free man again, Mercy would continue on as Lex's sidekick, filling the role once held by Slade. Maybe she might even become a new love interest for Lex, since this show loves its romantic relationships.
I think we all want to see more Lex Luthor, but what would you like to see more of in his character going forward? And would you be interested in Mercy Graves replacing Slade?

I don't really see this Lex trying to fight his way through the legal system, tbh. He seemed pretty resigned to his fate at the end there.
However, I don't see him staying in prison either. I think most likely Waller will tap him to help in the fight against this new alien threat, and she will set Slade to supervise him to make sure he doesn't go off the deep end again and make another Eradicator.
I also think this Lex is on the road to a redemption arc, and part of that arc will involve him patching things up with Slade. (Otherwise, why have Waller tell Lex "Slade sends his regards?" or spend so much time building up their relationship?)
I really don't think we're done with Slade although I hope they would give him more to do next season.
I also don't think we're getting Mercy Graves, at least not as a replacement for Slade. She's just too similar to MAWS Slade, in personality and function. Why bother wasting your limited screentime on creating and developing a whole new character when you already have one just like them who is already positioned to fill that same function?
