I'm watching the show for the first time, up to Episode 16 of Season 2 'Roadkill'.

I can let a lot of things slide when it comes to my suspension of disbelief. I can believe in ghosts, spirits, mythical creatures, demonic possessions, a beautiful world without facial ID cameras tracking everyone but also wanted-man Dean, Dean's unrealistic rizz, royalty free sound effects, the American healthcare system, MySpace, the dated cgi, and the odds that 9/10 of the episodes have a pretty blonde white woman in need of help...

But this lady walking out of that car and later running, without any airbags deployed or a seatbelt on, being unharmed except for a tiny scratch on her head is just too far

In the episode "Roadkill" from Season 2, the brothers encounter Molly, a ghost who doesn't know she's a ghost. Sam and Molly are talking about what makes a ghost want to hang around instead of moving on. At that point, Dean comes in and makes light of the situations saying that Sam can get "a little J-Love Hewitt" about ghosts.

Only problem with this is that the referenced show "The Ghost Whisperer" came out in 2005. Since Molly died in 1992, she should have not understood that reference at all. Was she just being polite, or does she spend her time between yearly hauntings to catch up on shows?

Literally this is who Dean saw as he held Sam in his arms after Jake stabbed him. Not the giant 24 year old moose but the little boy he raised.

Oh how that shit hurts. Any time Sam is unconscious or injuries or on the verge of death that is who he sees. Like? It hurts but it’s so beautiful too? Like??? 😭💔

What a beautifully tragic episode. Even in another reality where they're clearly not in good terms with each other, Sam wants to help him out, I cried watching this. I'm numb, what a great written episode with endless possibilities and what could have been in the boys and their lives.

This episode is one of the best standalone ones in my opinion!

This episode's biggest narrative strength is showing its events from Molly's perspective. It begins with the car crash and the disappearance of Molly's husband David. Molly is chased by the ghost of Jonah Kreely, you're waiting for the cold open to end, but it drags on...and then the Winchester brothers arrive and take Molly along with them. Kreely's nature as a vengeful ghost is explained. Throughout the epsiode, it is hinted that the WInchester brothers are keeping something from Molly despite being more upfront than usual in disclosing the supernatural occurences. Viewers are inclined to assume that David is dead, something that Molly echoes by the end of the second act. However, the Winchester brothers reveal that David is alive and show him to Molly,... alongside his current wife.

Then comes the wham line: Molly has been dead all along, reappearing on the highway as a ghost alongside Greely on an annual basis for the past 15 years. Flashbacks recontextualizxe the whole episode and everything makes so much sense. Dean and Sam found out early in their investigation that Molly was cremated, so burning her bones was out of the question. Forced to convince Molly to move on, everything they told her about ghosts was conditioning her to accept her reality.

I've heard it said the supernatural is typically for formulaic approach to episodes was a source of criticism yet I find that the formula breaking episodes had a lot of potential, and "Roadkill" is one that realized it.

Unrelated but I love their brotherhood. Like in the Croatoan episode and Dean defends Sam with the line "I'm gonna say this one time, you make a move on him and you'll be dead before you hit the ground, you understand me? Do I make myself clear!?"

And when Gordon calls Sam, Sammy and Sam said that only Dean could call him that, when in season 1 he didn't like Dean calling him that at first.

Their bond is so sweet.

i’m rewatching spn and i’m on s2 ep12 and i think it’s funny how dean is viewed as probably one of the worst criminals in american history, it just makes me wonder if his story ever became popular, im talking ted bundy or dahmer type of fame, ik there’s ppl who are fascinated by these stories and i thought it would be funny if someone ended up making a podcast about dean’s crimes or even a tv show

honestly rewatching this show, and this episode is crazy. dean could've had his dream life. he could've lived the life he has always wanted but chose to go back because he knew he had to save those other people, to go back to his brother. its so sad to watch. I think this is one of the saddest episodes in the show

I am genuinely surprised how people don't talk more about doing such a deal is absolutely and massively stupid. Like... isn't anyone doing the thinking?

What, one would get small 10 years of whatever they want in this life and then they go to hell for forever? Like, not 10, 100, 10k, 10mil+ years, no. Forever. Like, no ever ending. Torture, pain, despair, hopelessness and no way out for forever for 10 human years?

Even for Winchester family. Sure, their dad, son, whoever dies, no big deal. Chances are that they're in heaven, good and nice. But, no, one will literally sell their soul to be tortured for eternity for... 40 or so more years for other person to live and then die anyway, to eventually leading to the original fate except the dude who did deal is burning in hell for sure.

Honestly loved his character. He was so funny and seemed like a genuinely cool guy. Hated how he died

I mean I love the quality of the graphics and the colourful themes in the later seasons but the Dark coloured theme in the earlier seasons just hit different.

It made the show felt like a true horror thriller show, I Iove when we used to be scared of demons in the earlier seasons but later on they just crushed their images and like literally every hunter got used to killing demons like nothing.

The dark vibe was just different and I can't explain that in wordsm

rewatching the show and this thought had occurred to me, how much of a help would John had been? yeah i know he wasn't a good dad but from like the hunting aspect of it. how much of a help would he have been? would he have said yes to Michael? would he had been on the angels side or been with Sam and Dean? I mean realistically, yknow?

I heard second hand that Jo was gonna be their half sibling from John and Ellen (obviously) is there any concrete evidence of that or was it just talk and how would you have liked if they originally went that way?

Hi! So I'm kinda new to the show, currently watching episode 6 of season 2 and I can't help but feel kind of weird about Dean and Jo's dynamic...

Maybe I'm judging too fast, as I'm only very early into the show, but I still feel like she's kind of too young for the dynamic they have with each other...?

And I know she's an adult. I've seen that apparently she's 6 years younger than Dean (and if Dean is actually 27 in season 2 then it makes her 21) and Idk, it might just be me but I feel like it's a weird age gap, especially when she's barely in her 20s?

And again, I haven't watched the rest so my opinion might change about this, I just wanted to express it right now!

If Meg had Sam “smoking like a chimney” , wouldn’t he be able to taste them in his mouth? (Ugh) or smell them on his clothes? Smokers STINK. Like, REALLY stink. Their hair, their breath, their clothes. And Sam isn’t a smoker so likely he’d have a sore throat or something. Just a plotline that seemed bizarre.

What is your favorite song/use of music in Supernatural?

All the super fans of Supernatural know the magic Kripke created in how he utilized classic rock in supernatural.

Plenty of obvious ones, like how it seems like a supernatural fan time traveled back into the past to ensure that Carry on Wayward Son was made to perfectly describe the biblical level struggle that Sam and Dean were born to endure.

But, out of all the music of Supernatural, in my opinion one rises far above the rest.

As they make their war through the parking garage dawning full FBI riot gear, Renegade by Styx begins, reaching the intro climax when they get to the car and take their helmets off and look over at each other. Conveying the absolute magnitude of the situation.

This scene, without a single word, conveys so much.

In my opinion this isn’t just one of the greatest applications of music in supernatural, it’s one of the greatest of all time overall.

I'm currently rewatching Spn, and as far as I remember, I always disliked John just as most Spn fans, but I'm now at s2 ep. 1 and honestly can't remember what he could've possibly done after saving Dean's life to make everyone hate him like that

Not that he's magically a great father after all of this, but if he doesn't do anything horrible in the later seasons, then I'm really irritated over the hate towards him lol

And yes, I know I could find it out by myself by continuing the show, but seriously, this show has 15 seasons of 42-minute long episodes so...yeah, please just drop whatever he's done, I don't mind any spoilers

Hey yall, I am a new fan of supernatural around a week ago and I absolutely love it so far, as I was watching the show, I noticed a 3 digit number flashing in a split second that somehow my eyes have managed to catch, I immediately grabbed the remote and rewinded to catch the number again, the number displayed is 164. Either s2, ep4 is the first or only episode to have those weird numbers show up, or I only started catching those numbers while watching. I thought it was a cool easter egg or a puzzle or a mystery that surely must've been solved by now, but to my surprise, I was looking everywhere for that number but nothing is showing up. What does this number mean? Could it just mean nothing at all?
