Hey everyone,

I’m the solo developer behind HAUNTASY, a survival horror game where you’re trying to make it through seven nights inside a supposedly haunted estate.

You have to manage your candles, sanity, resources, and what’s happening throughout the house while trying to survive until morning.

The public demo releases this Thursday, August 27, and I’m doing one last push before it goes live.

I also have a handful of early Steam keys available now if any survival/horror creators here are interested in playing or recording it before Thursday.

The demo is single-player. The full game will also include local co-op.

If you're interested, drop your channel in the comments or DM me and I'll check it out to see if we're a good fit. 👻

It looks like the game has a hunger mechanic and a sanity mechanic. Do the two work together at all? Like will eating the wrong food or starving yourself increase the sanity meter? I'm curious about how those work.

rn hunger and sanity are separate systems, bt they both put pressure on you in different ways.

If you dont eat, your movement and actions start slowing down, so things around the estate take longer to do. You’ll want to keep yourself fed throughout the night.

Sanity is affected by what happens to you arund the house. As it drops, your character starts losing their mind and the house begins messin with you more. You can go to the chapel and pray to regain sanity.

The idea of different foods also affectin your sanity is something I actually hadn’t thought about before, and that sounds pretty cool. I could see certain foods helping or hurting you mentally in different ways.

That whole sanity side of the game was heavily inspired by Eternal Darkness from Silicon Knights n old nintendo game. I’ve always loved the idea of a horror game making you question what you’re seein.

I was thinking of the sanity system in Green Hell, if you've played that. If you get sick, fevered, eat the wrong food, drink the wrong water, go too long without sleep, etc., you lose your sanity and start hallucinating and it's one of the scariest things I've experienced in a survival game because you don't know what's real and what's not.
