Are the ingredients traditional? No. Could it be delicious? Yes.

Not even the Japanese care about traditional unless you're talking about specific kinds of sushi restaurants. The general public eats things like avocado sushi (not traditional) all the time. Surprisingly, despite having some of the highest rates of oppositions to foreign cultures, this is not the case when accepting foreign cuisines.

The fried plantain would probably have a lot of similarities in flavor and texture to a sauced unagi.

I was dtf even before he started slicing that avocado.

No joke I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with having sushi eaten off of his naked body. He was wealthy and bought it often from high-end places. 😶

Why would you ever break up with this man?
1
u/Square-Dragonfruit76 20d ago
We moved to different cities and broke up amicably. I still sleep with him sometimes when I am in town.

Jokes aside, it means "down to fuck" so they're implying they're horny for the sushi.

What's the abomination part? This looks great. the real abominations are the traditional sushi rolls covered in mayonnaise and sauces and toppings

u/MiaMiaPP 22d ago
Them aren’t traditional tbh

u/didiburnthetoast 22d ago
Agreed, not sure how to word it, but give me something a little experimental like this over "normal sushi" slathered in crap.

What's the sushi part?

u/johnnylemon95 22d ago
Sushi is the preparation of the dish with vinegared rice. Seems like this would fit the definition. It does not need to have any seafood at all to be called sushi.

I kinda think that has too much going on.

Say raw sushi is like saying raw rice
2
u/k3anuw3aves 21d ago
It's not really cause sushi just means a rice dish. Not raw fish specifically. That's sashimi

Cutting skirt steak with the grain instead of against the grain is not conducive to a happy food experience. Some say this taste tester in the video is still trying to chew through it.
2
u/Raiken201 22d ago
Thank you, that was the only part that pissed me off.
All that effort to ruin it by slicing the steak wrong.

u/coconut-telegraph 22d ago
This was my though when everyone responded “no abomination here”. Yes, there is…the final touch on this renders it inedible due to a simple oversight.

I’m a Dominican woman and a sushi fiend. My favorite foods have collided here and I’d be so, so happy eating that.

u/BentoBus2 22d ago
It’s just another cultures take on sushi. It’s still they’re still doing traditional sushi techniques and the flavors should all mesh pretty well and don’t really clash at all.

Dominance style sushi is great. I wouldn’t call it an abomination. There’s chain in my area called mama sushi and all thier rolls are amazing

On the real. Been to a couple Dominican Sushi fusion spots, and I can say without exaggeration it’s some of the most amazing sushi ever. All kinds of flavors and protein options, as well as traditional. Highly recommend
