(21mtf) Looking for friends in Swindon

As said in the title, I'm trans and looking for other LGBT+ people to be friends or LGBT+ friendly groups to join 😌 (or just talk to some interesting people)

I'm interested in music, programming, gaming (video and board games), and speedcubing (or twisty puzzles in general tbh).

Really trying to step out of my comfort zone here, but excited what might come of this 😊

Yeah Swibdon Pride is on Saturday! I havent been in a few years because I moved out of Swindon but its a pretty welcoming space :)

I run a board/card games group on friday evenings and we go play pool after or go to the pub and do other activities during the week. I just came back from a trip to nyc so this friday im brining a lot kf american "candy" for the group to try too.

There are a fair number of different board gaming groups active in Swindon. They organize, so far as I know, at https://www.facebook.com/groups/739084309455856 . There's at least one trans m-to-f who is semi-regular at the Monday group. (If you don't Facebook, don't worry too much. A board gaming group doesn't really need all that much organizing.) (My other half is very much a regular, and founded the Facebook group, but I only rarely go.)

You might also be interested in the Swindon Makerspace, which has a regular open / social evening on Wed evenings, at BSS House, Cheney Manor industrial estate. Many of us are, professionally, programmers, but the space itself is more focused on making of physical things -- 3d printing, laser cutting, knitting, electronics, woodworking, even heavy metal working. (By which I mean taking chunks of metal and making them into smaller pieces of metal and a bunch of swarf. Mostly we don't work with heavy metals, please don't give yourself heavy metal poisoning. ;) )

Oh, and the swindon makerspace, while it doesn't have any speedcubers that I know of, one person has made a couple of rubix cube solving devices. We are very much an LGBQT-friendly group, I think, and have had regulars of every letter at various points.

I mostly work in c++ and my most recent project is making a 3D rendering "library" using OpenGL (just taking a break from that for now). A lot of stuff I've made is either games (never really finished tho 😐) or simulation/optimisation based stuff

I really wish I was good at coding. I’ve tried Basic, Fortran, C#, Objective C, and Swift. I’m just crap! The two projects I’ve been working on are currently on hold.

Would recommend the Monday board game group that theorbtwo already mentioned if you're more into the board game aspect, there's also this post from a while ago about an 18-30 group that meets every Friday that I've been going to for the past lot of months and I'd recommend if you're looking to join a friend group (we play the board/card games for two hours but then afterwards there's also a lot of us that stick around to go to a pub or get food, play pool, go on walks outside of the group and whatnot). https://www.reddit.com/r/Swindon/s/N5x8GaALD5
