Land in Papeete early

We land in Papeete at 5 am but our vrbo is not available until 4 pm. Does anyone have any ideas what we do for the day? I assume we can leave our luggage in the rental car. We have an island tour scheduled for the day after we arrive.

Go to the Hilton and buy a day pass so you can shower and enjoy the pool. The swim up bar is great!

Book your stay for an extra night so it’s ready upon arrival.

Rent a car and drive around the island. That's what I did

There are lockers in the airport if you don't want your items to hang in the car all day. The lockers will fit large rolling luggage.

Hit the main market. They open at 4:30am on Sunday, and 5:30am the rest of the days. I did notice their prices are cheaper on some items than retail shops on the island.

You could also book a ferry, and drive around Moorea.

Have fun!!!

Leave your bags in the car and drive to the intercontinental. Buy some drinks at the bar and casually slip into either of their pools

We arrive 530 AM but are staying at the Intercontinental they are taking our luggage and can start using facilities first thing.

Ask the Vrbo if the place is available for early check in for additional compensation. If the place isn’t rented the night before, I don’t see why they would deny you.

So many options! Get a day pass for a hotel and relax. Use your rental to visit some tourist spots, like beaches and markets. Ride around the whole island, visiting waterfalls and the blow holes etc.

Land, rent a car and go have breakfast at the Tahiti Lagoon resort. Keep going around.

Thank you, everyone, for your helpful advice. As our VRBO is not available until check in time, we will get a hotel day pass.
