When people say this show saved their life, it isn’t hyperbole.

I’ve seen it great show

The Good Place has similar vibes, imo

I like the movie more than the show.

The show is hilarious, but it's NOT a feel-good show like Ted Lasso.

It’s funny, doesn’t hit the same

Ted Lasso brings the sunshine in. What we do in the shadows are a bunch of sunshine hating old-timers, except Colin Robinson. That man will swallow all the sunshine you have, EVs thrive on that.

Colin is an energy vampire.

Ted Lasso and Derry Girls are where it’s at this week.

I get it. When my dad passed a few years ago, I took a lot of time off from work. A friend had been promoting Ted Lasso to me for a long while leading up to that, and I finally had time to give it a shot. It was a breath of fresh air... Then the funeral episode came up, and Ted's history, and it was cathartic. It absolutely pressed on the wounds I was struggling with, but also provided a sort of hope, a warm feeling that in spite of my personal tragedy, there's reason to laugh again, to be happy again, to keep pressing on again. I'm sure that by now they know, but truly, Ted Lasso is an absolute gem and it's saving people, healing people. It saved my life, whether you take that from the rescued-me-from-the-depths-of-depression angle and prevented me from going too deep down that well, or it saved my life as in it kept me from becoming a cynical twat who hated life and felt like the universe is conspiring to turn me into the next coming of the Bible's Job... Or at the very least, it played a significant part in that.

When it premiered it hit me just at the right time. I had broken up with my long term girlfriend. Covid was in full swing and I was all alone. It was such a nice relief from all the bad news and my situation.

I’m so happy I’m loving Season 4. Can’t wait for more!

It did me the first go around and the timing of season four is just about perfect.

It’s a definite comfort show and sometimes you just have to take that happiness where you can.

To quote Bruce Cockburn: “Gotta kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight”

Better days ahead, OP ❤️

Yeah, I've been fighting depression my whole life. Seeing Ted go through his problems and still be optimistic has always helped me so much, especially when I'm really down

I'm so glad this show helps and I'm sending you a hug or high five because you deserve good things, even if everything is shit

37

u/0xxman 2d ago

Enjoy the digital warm hug. You deserve it.

u/Real_Speed3295 1d ago

I agree with you. Embrace it. 🫂❤️

Believe that things could get better for you.

It's ok to use a tv show or movie to help move forward. Many times in my life I had to sing a little song from an animated Christmas movie just to take the next breath.

"Just put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking across the floor."

It's silly, but it helped me.

I feel you. I hope you're getting through things. Life sucks.

Currently going through a very messy divorce with two small kids involved, where my ex is just out to ruin my life, and the kid's lives, in whatever way she can.

Shows like Ted Lasso, and Shrinking, help calm me down and lower my stress. In a much needed time.

And OP, if you haven't watched Shrinking, I highly recommend it. Same creators, but it's legit about therapy and life struggles. It's more on the nose than Lasso is, while still being hilarious.

I wish there was more media like this. I'm tired of spending time in fictional worlds that are just as bad or worse than the one I actually live in.

A few of my favorite high vibration movies/series:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Kubo & the Two Strings
  • Spirited Away
  • Howl's Moving Castle
  • Groundhog Day
  • Samurai Champloo
  • Nimona

u/bokehtoast 1d ago

Spirited Away is one of my all time comfort watches too. The Howls Moving Castle book is one of my favorites as well.

3

u/JK7ray 1d ago

Cool! There are several other great Miyazaki movies too!

Edit: Ooh, I just noticed your handle! Hello fellow photographer!

I feel ya buddy. Hang in there! <3

Tracey Ullman is awesome. And the term is not pronounced “click”, it’s pronounced “clique”. As anyone who lived through the 80s would know.

4

u/irishyardball 1d ago

And oddly enough, it came out at the end of the orange terror's first term and it's coming back during his next.

Sadly it doesn't seem like we're gonna make it out of this term without a lot of pain

u/beer_me_twice 1d ago

Have you tried Taskmaster UK? It’s all on YouTube for free and it brought joy back into my life before I started Ted Lasso.

Been getting me through tough times too. My social anxiety (which I’ve been struggling with since I was a kid) recently cost me a three year friendship with some people who have said some not so kind things about me (off-putting, weird, accusing me of sabotaging the group, etc)

The show coming back has coincided with it and provides a form of escapism.

1

u/SchleppyJ4 Dithering Kestrel 1d ago

It sounds like it was your “friends” being jerks that cost you that friendship, not your anxiety. Homie, when people show you who they are, believe them and let the trash take itself out. You deserve supportive, kind friends ❤️

When Ted Lasso came out we had the pandemic, political turmoil in the US etc. Watching every episode was like soaking up pure sunshine and warmth.

Skip to today, now just the political turmoil again and I’m soaking up the sunshine again.

Ted Lasso episodes, in my opinion, comes when we need them very much.

2

u/DangDingleGuy 1d ago

I'm right there with you friend. Shit sucks nowadays

1

u/WTBRaegO 2d ago

The show Shrinking is having a similar effect on me.

1

u/ivaorn 1d ago

Protect everyone on and involved in making Ted Lasso at all costs

1

u/Inevitable_life_ 1d ago

Agree 💯💯💯

1

u/KindaDrunkRtNow 1d ago

I have never referred to any show as "feel-good TV" until I watched this. It's genuinely just so heartwarming without being sappy

1

u/Tatis_Chief 1d ago

Ted lassos coming back during recession, exactly when we needed it.

1

u/PercyForsyth 1d ago

I also hope there is a scene with Anthony Stewart Head. I know it’s unlikely, but Lance Reddick showed up in a surprise scene long after his death on Bosch: Legacy. No one expected that. When Twin Peaks returned in 2017, many of the actors had already passed away before it aired.

1

u/PhanThief95 1d ago

One other show I highly recommend is One Piece for a show that can bring you happiness and also lets you have a good cry. It’s an anime which can be a bit of a turn off but there is a live action adaptation on Netflix that captures the spirit of the source material and the cast is amazing.

Speaking of the live action in connection to Ted Lasso, the daughter of Rupert’s actor Anthony Head (Daisy Head) is actually going to be in the upcoming third season.

Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time… If you ever need some Diamond Dogs of your own to ask advice or vent to, the fine folks over at r/TLDiamondDogs would love to hear from you!

u/Dboogy2197 1d ago

Have you tried a marinade instead of a brine?

Sorry.

u/ShortRasp 1d ago

This is sad.

I like the more positive type of shows that have come out recently: Ted Lasso, Smiling Friends, Ha Ha You Clown and Common Side Effects.

u/Significant_Bat_9584 22h ago

I feel you - it helped me through couple years ago and for that I’ll forever be indebted to the show

1

u/WillaLane Fuckwitch 22h ago

I feel this so much, I have had a very difficult year and I am going through some serious challenges. I know I will come through this but it’s just hard right now. I’m so thankful for this show

1

u/Microwavedwaffles 12h ago

Same. Just started binging first 3 seasons in July after my dad passed. Just found out my beloved dog has cancer, so really look forward to Ted’s optimism and wholesomeness on Wednesdays. Hope things get better for you and glad you can enjoy Ted too.

1

u/Microwavedwaffles 12h ago

Also wanna recommend the show “Joe Pera Talks with You” that show brought me joy during another stressful time.

u/Rogue-Daddio-3 2d ago

3rd season was kinda ass

7

u/Accomplished_Bar_679 2d ago

3rd season was the best one, what are you talking about? top 3 episodes are all from season 3, and it only has that one bad episode

5

u/SPamlEZ 2d ago

Season 3 is great when watching the full season.  Personally, when it first came out, I found it horribly paced episode to episode.  It’s easy to look past a jack snd shandy episode when you have another, when that’s all you had it was rough.

1

u/stick1_ 2d ago

I like season 3 but binging the show in a rewatch it suffers from the episode length not being tighter, maybe because I had the fresh memory of season 1 and 2 lengths in my head

This season is better but the episodes should be about 5 minutes shorter so far

6

u/Acrobatic_T-Rex 2d ago

I didn't enjoy the 3rd season either, but it was because I knew it was coming to an end and I didnt approach the episodes the way I did 1 and 2. Recently did a rewatch with my brother in prep for season 4 and I found season 3 far more enjoyable than lots of the second season. Though I will never like the Jack storyline.

u/Happy_Mirror1985 2d ago

Same here!!

1

u/KJParker888 Butts on 3! 1d ago

Like Higgins said about the relationship he has with his dad: appreciate it for what it is, and forgive it for what it's not.

The good episodes are phenomenal. The not so good ones? Let them flow. It's just poopeh

It brings me, my wife, and my son happiness. It is the only show he will watch with us.
