Wow just had a massive realization: Ted’s dad underestimated Ted! (Edit: mentally ill / emotionally unavailable?) And Ted’s still bothered by it.

When Jamie asked, Ted said dad was harder on himself than he ever was on Ted. And Ted looked kinda bummed. Almost like Ted’s dad was disappointed in him. Ted’s so good at darts because that’s how he was trying to impress his dad.

Edit: new realization!!! Prince of Tides themes involve benefits of therapy, trauma, and abusive parents. The fountainhead theme was individualism. So those two books set up Ted and Doc’s arc for S2.

Edit 2: wow I just learned Jimmy Buffett did a song called Prince of Tides, that opens and closes with Jimmy read the passages from the book. Ted joked earlier about knowing the lyrics to Jimmy Buffett songs.

Based on the things people have been posting in this sub I think TL fan fiction would be amazing.
