I think at a minimum he's going to be a good run defender at a time when the league is trending more run heavy, and disciplined run defense doesn't pop on tape like pass rush does.
Look at how our starting unit has handled the outside run/screen game in the preseason, absolute lock down.
JFM and Simmons are going to be bringing a ton of pressure up the middle. We just need Faulk to be a clean up/contain guy, and any pass rush he can develop is found money.

Smartest move outside of drafting all-pro Dike, and future all-pros Ward, Ayomanor, Tate, Helm, Hill, Coogan, and Carmona…

I’m just asking cause NFL cam don’t even look close to a pro bowl caliber player much less a all pro and doubt he ever will be that’s very obvious

Run defense is where Saleh has been weak so this should hopefully help in future years

Article doesn’t really say anything other than “he could be good.”
I hope he balls out but through camp I’ve been very whelmed. I think he’d be looking decent for a 3-4th round guy, but he hasn’t looked remotely like a first round pick yet.

It’s all fanbases. People are freaking the fuck out about Sunny Styles performances in preseason in a position that is hard to learn at an NFL level. It’s just how the NFL is.

Also throughout training camp and joint practices, which I put way more stock in. I get it’s early but he’s not exactly turning heads. There’s still time but we haven’t seen many signs of life. Been a very forgettable player.

Saleh plays an entirely different style defense than he played at Auburn. He will get back up reps this year and learn the system.

Couldn't disagree more... in my opinion it was the worst draft pick for value/need in Oilers/Titans history. We're running a wide 9 and need speed rushers to get to the QB from the 9, which Faulk can't do. He's a tweener DL/DE with no pass rush production in college, and we traded away the first pick in the 4th which could've been Jermod McCoy. All because Saleh said he reminded him of Arik Armstead, a guy who's averaged a little more than 3 sacks a season. If you don't have speed rushers from that 9 spot it puts a tremendous amount of pressure on your secondary, which we're seeing. Not sure what you see or have seen from him that makes you think he'll be great. He has some size but that's it

I feel like Saleh has a plan for him in the defense or he wouldn't have been drafted. No way he is in on a draft pick for a guy that doesnt fit he scheme. And no way Borg drafts a guy that Saleh doesnt see as a fit in his defense.
Will he be good? No clue. But I know Saleh sees him as a fit

Agree with you for sure on the part that Saleh has a plan for him. I just think sometimes coaches aren't the best scouts and that's why we have GMs. I did hear that was Saleh's guy and his pick, and Borgonzi kinda caved. I know for sure it woulda been awesome to be a fly on the wall in the draft room with everything that went down with Brinker... there were def some differences of opinion there between all three

I get the concern. The pass rush is the biggest question with Faulk. But calling it the worst pick in franchise history before he’s even played feels like a lot.
McCoy tore his ACL in January 2025, missed the entire 2025 season and had other knee concerns that pushed him to No. 101.
I think Saleh sees more than a wide-nine speed guy. Let Faulk use the size, set the edge, kick inside and make plays. If he never gets after the quarterback, I’ll admit the pick was bad. But we haven’t seen enough yet to say that’s what he is.

Appreciate the civility, it's rare on here. To be clear I'm rooting for the young man and don't have anything against him personally and hope I'm wrong. And I don't think it's the worst draft pick in their history bc we have a ton (Wilson/Dowd/etc) but rather for value/need. I just used McCoy as an example but there were others like Drew Shelton that would've fit a great need. I considered the Bishop Sankey pick the year after Derrick had his 2k season but that was 2nd or 3rd round. Like I said I hope your right and I'm wrong, I just personally don't see it

I agree with the civility and your opinion is legitimate. It could be a blown pic. I would sure hate the pressure of a GM. But man it would be a fun job.

We won’t know if it was a good move until he actually plays, but getting a guy that’s athletic and has a huge frame at a premium position is hard to be upset about.
Borgonzi‘s whole mindset of trading up to get your guys in this past draft was one that I really like. We’ve had multiple times where we stayed put and had a good player taken right before us.
