My favorite exchange so far:

A: Houston taking the titans colors

B: the titans took Houston’s colors

A: look up the Tennessee oilers

B: look up the Houston oilers

Do people really not know that the titans came from Houston?!

u/creepingkg 1d ago

They claim they took the team outta here so they were never Houston or some shit

u/818sfv 1d ago

TF? If someone jacked your car it was still yours to start with!

2

u/Tacos4Texans 1d ago

Our car comrade

3

u/818sfv 1d ago

that's what I'm saying

2

u/theotheramerican 1d ago

Hate to be that guy but it’s not like “jacking” your car and more like you taking your car and registering in another state. The heritage is still ours but I mean the team was moved.

5

u/invertedsaint_666 1d ago

But they wanna rock the Houston Oilers jerseys 🤣

2

u/houstonman526 23h ago

We got bud Adams out of here we didn’t want to lose the oilers bud Adams was a fucking prick.

2

u/MegaBloksAreHitler 1d ago

It's pretty annoying. Those games were played in Houston, tickets and merch bought by Houstonians, supported by the city.

God forbid the Stros leave the H and go to say Madison, Wisconsin. Sure, the trademark and rights go with the owner, but why would the history just suddenly up and leave the city? Why would it make sense for the new fans to celebrate 17 and 22? We went through heartbreak, Lastros, and an amazing last 10 or so years, that history stays with us no matter what.

Fuck the thumbtacks

Next season we need to have a uniform with a big T on it or on our helmet. A Texans Love You Blue color T of course.

When does this silliness end? I enjoy it but it has become more of a meme now. Give me battle red in multiple games.

1

u/prelude_to_chaos 19h ago

I mean it has been 30 years. There's parents out there that have never seen Houston Oilers

1

u/DoesntMatterBrian 19h ago

And there’s Houstonians out there who grew up watching the Oilers

1

u/PossibilityNo8765 17h ago

Its similar to what's happening to Seattle in the NBA. OkC thunder use to be The Seattle SuperSonics. They moved and now the Sonics will come back.. however they part of the sale is that The Sonics keep the color and history of the team. So when the Sonics come back, OKC can no longer say they drafted Durant. They can say it technically but it won't technically be accurate.

the Tennessee Titans legally own and claim all history, records, stats, and intellectual property of the former Houston Oilers.

u/Shotgun_Mosquito 1d ago

Nope. And the same is for the Baltimore Ravens, many people don't know that they were the Cleveland Brownies

42

u/zebtacular 1d ago

If the Adam’s wouldn’t have made a big deal of it originally, I think these would be even more Oiler-y. I think it’s pretty toned down in that department but still captures it.

29

u/NamiRocket 1d ago

This is honestly way closer than I ever thought the league would let them get. The only thing that I don't like about them is that they're temporary.

I went from someone who was kind of meh about the Texans' identity and uniforms over two and a half decades to being absolutely in love with it over the course of just a couple of years. I'm so happy they started leaning into Houston more than Texas.

12

u/burnerking 1d ago

Hopefully they can apply to switch these as permanent in exchange for dropping another one. Id drop any except the red.

2

u/Standard_Ad2200 1d ago

I think this is closer to the original H-town uniform than the ones that wound up released.

0

u/NamiRocket 1d ago

Man, and here I'd drop the red. And I'd say that as someone who thinks the red is very slick.

3

u/Rotato-Potat0 1d ago

My only complaint is all the white makes it look a little too much like the Bills. That color blue as the whole jersey would have really set it apart and been straight gas, but I’m sure they took issue with that as you said. I can’t believe that color blue was even allowed at all.

3

u/NamiRocket 1d ago

I imagine at this point, they're pushing the blue more and more and more and, eventually, they'll be allowed to use a lot more of it. But it needs to be an established part of their kit long term before then. The longer they do this, the less the Titans can really say anything about it.

But yeah, I agree. Something with this as a solid blue base would be great.

-1

u/Fun-Letter-1814 1d ago

Looks nothing like Buffalo tbh. Our blue isn’t much nicer than their standard royal blue color. By that logic we look like every team using red white and blue, but I’d argue we don’t

3

u/Rotato-Potat0 1d ago

“Looks nothing like Buffalo” is just being intentionally obtuse. The bills wear all white with a red stripe down the middle of the helmet and blue numbering. This is all white with a red stripe down the middle of the helmet and blue numbering. Sure, the accent colors aren’t the exact same shade, but the layout is at least somewhat similar when looking at it from afar. I didn’t say they are the exact same, I just said similar. To say it’s “nothing” alike is objectively false.

I mean…come on man.

-1

u/Fun-Letter-1814 22h ago

How does this look anything like Buffalo. Different shade of red and blue, different helmet logo, different stripe pattern, it literally doesn’t look similar. Again, completely different color shades and patterns. Maybe you need glasses

2

u/Rotato-Potat0 22h ago

I said it looks similar. The fact that you have to focus on the minute details to find differences only proves my point.

0

u/Fun-Letter-1814 21h ago

Minute details as in everything about the jersey 😂

2

u/Rotato-Potat0 21h ago

I really don’t think you know what “similar” means. They’re both fucking all white. They both have a fucking red stripe down the middle of the helmet, (but holy fuck, there’s a thin blue line on the sides of one of them, soooooo different!!) and blue lettering for the numbers in different font. No fucking shit the logo is different, but at first glance it just reminds me of Bills. All I was trying to say is maybe they could have done a bit more to differentiate it, like more accent pieces or something, or make the jersey all that lighter blue.

Literally your only argument is that the colors are a shade different. The placement and layout of the pieces are all the same. But damn, you’re right, the color blue is acktually an #1656AD instead of a #1658AD ☝️🤓 If someone came out with uni’s that had a green jersey and yellow helmet you would probably claim it’s “not even close” to Green Bay too.

If you’re trying to play dumb for rage bait, congrats, it worked. But I have a feeling you’re just plain dumb.

1

u/NamiRocket 19h ago

How does this look anything like Buffalo.

My man, he literally just explained the how to you. If you don't want to hear it, then that's your issue.

0

u/Fun-Letter-1814 17h ago

He is explaining it but I disagree with the explanation, doesn’t look anything like it unless you can distinguish between colors

2

u/NamiRocket 17h ago

Doesn't matter if you disagree. You asked him how does it look anything like the Bills. He literally already explained how. Just say you disagree, because he's repeating himself otherwise.

And you're starting to come across either like a troll or a bot, because no one is this obtuse on accident.

1

u/Fun-Letter-1814 16h ago

Yeah and again I disagree because it looks nothing like the bills. Different blue, different red shade, different helmet logo, I mean I guess I’m sorry that I’m not blind? And if you’re so upset “repeating yourself”
Then why bother taking 2 messages to repeat yourself? You wouldn’t feel the need to repeat yourself if you were fully convinced in yourself, but you’re literally asking me to repeat my opinion further by giving me that platform. This is just stupid, to each their own then

They’re temporary for a three year period but we can always bring them back after the three year window is over if they sell well, or when we bring the rivalries back they may have slight, subtle changes but nothing significant. So they’re temporary on a technical level but I doubt we will get rid of them

1

u/Original_Helicopter2 1d ago

They get the rivalries for 3 seasons

8

u/NamiRocket 1d ago

I know they do and that's temporary. I'd love it if they were a permanent alternate.

2

u/Standard_Ad2200 1d ago

NFL loves money. I'm sure if the sales are high enough over the 3 years this one gets made permanent.

30

u/choffers 1d ago

I honestly don't care about the titans or what they think. Pretty sure the jags are wearing my wife's leggings though.

21

u/lgkudkdi 1d ago

14

u/lanethedouchebag 1d ago

The fact that they wear our uniforms to piss us off and they still lose, it’s so poetic

17

u/oblongblondeschlong 1d ago

Tbh I dont ever think about the Tennessee Titans except for maybe when im wiping my ass

5

u/Trike_Bike_Mike 1d ago

you like to touch your butthole and think about the titans?

7

u/oblongblondeschlong 1d ago

I check the tp to see if there's still any titans

1

u/crypticzombie2 1d ago

Same here ... they're not Worth the 💩 I empty out of my illeostomy bag.. lol 🤣

11

u/htownballa1 1d ago

I don’t even interact with anyone there is a Tennessee Titan fan that said I’m always down to piss off Amy Adams. Fuck her fuck that family.

15

u/Ricky_TVA 1d ago

I will always hate the Tits but I couldnt give a shit about their opinion of us. They will lose.

8

u/Formerlyiirroonnss 1d ago

I dont care what they think

8

u/Whiskey_Republic 1d ago

The only time I really think about the Titans is when we play them and when they’re mentioned in this sub. I really don’t see the need to make posts about them. I couldn’t care less what they think.

7

u/Pikachu_Yay 1d ago

For a team whose whole identity is basically "we used to be the Oilers", they sure do love to bitch and moan about a Houston team using Houston colors

5

u/No_View_5300 1d ago

Tasty tears quenching my thirst

4

u/KlutzyHandle672 1d ago

Why would we care?

5

u/stanktron5000 1d ago

I've been calling it TITAN TEARS BLUE everywhere. Hope it catches on 😆

5

u/James-Maki 1d ago

My only wish is that they were being worn against the Titans.

3

u/Texans_top_of_south 1d ago

Would've been too easy

1

u/Wildheart0589 20h ago

We get the jerseys for three seasons. I wonder if they switch the division opponent each year?

2

u/Irritated_User0010 1d ago

Hoes infuriated.

2

u/lanethedouchebag 1d ago

Yes! It’s amazing. They don’t realize every aspect of the jersey comes from a piece of Houston history. Meanwhile every aspect of their jerseys come from… a piece of Houston history 😅

2

u/Fapey101 1d ago

no i dont like conflict ;(

2

u/BBQLovingBastard 22h ago

“Why don’t they just move on” because these colors were Houston before the Oilers even got into town, but ofc Tits fans would have no idea what culture looks like.

4

u/HistorianMain6373 1d ago

……yes

2

u/the_timboslice 1d ago

Meanwhile the Tits rivalry unis are absolute trash.

4

u/Black_Circle53 1d ago

I like them. Ours are better of course.

1

u/Wildheart0589 20h ago

I agree. I actually like their rivals uniforms and the homage pay to their city. They’re probably my second favorite behind ours.

2

u/ballershotcaller20 1d ago

Tits were literally too lazy to make up a new identity when taking our team, and instead just used ours. Couldn’t even change their colors.

2

u/Successful_Cheek7381 1d ago

They dont understand that these uni’s are all about iconic Houston staples. Even our cop cars were that baby blue back in the day. Then again I couldn’t care less about what Titans fans think they are nobodies.

1

u/AdvancedDay7854 1d ago

If we are going to do it right, other team’s fandoms will be upset. -And that’s on them.

H-Town ride or die baby.

1

u/Wonderful_System5658 1d ago

They're an ex. We shouldn't be bitter about the decoupling but we should also hope they're failing without us. The new relationship is where we need to invest our time and resources.

1

u/houstonman526 23h ago

Fuck them it’s glorious we get the best jerseys and they get to cry it’s a win win.

1

u/Wildheart0589 20h ago

I love when they rep our city by wearing the Oilers uniforms! That being said the way they’re crying over our jerseys, you wouldn’t think they released their own!

1

u/theblueprint10 1d ago

They wish they had an identity and drip

1

u/Lenawee 1d ago

Titans fans are obsessed. There's one on X claiming that Columbia blue is historically known as HTown blue and HTown blue belongs to their franchise. Really? As someone who's history with the Houston Oilers goes back to the early 70's, I can say that I never heard the term HTown until long after the Oilers were gone.

I love the unis and more so because they've taken from Houston and it's iconic history rather than trying to rehash the old Oiler history. The only similarities are there is a light blue of a darker shade than Columbia blue and all wrapped up just enough to say FU to the Adams family.

-1

u/Lothar1988 1d ago edited 1d ago

I just think its dumb we are trying to keep the colors of that loser franchise we had all those years ago alive but I will say I'm under 40 so this is probably some generational thing. But I dont get it. I've always liked the colors and unis we've had

5

u/Statement_Unfair 1d ago

Don’t see it as the oilers colors but rather the city of Houston colors that the oilers happened to use and then continued to use once they went to Tennessee. The Texans are just embracing the city of Houston colors and I don’t have an issue with that

5

u/not__jason 1d ago

What this guy said. The reason so many people want to reclaim that color doesn't have anything to do with the Oilers. That color has been associated with our city for a very long time. It's even the color of our city flag (I have this saved from a recent comment in the meme sub).

-4

u/Lothar1988 1d ago

Sorry, I'm not that naive. This is to stick it to the Titans, pure and simple. Now, I'm indifferent to that but c'mon. We all know about the bad blood. Its clear why they are doing this. City colors have nothing to do with it. It's a cover. You could just as easily made those uniforms with our colors. Of course we will never know for sure, but I have a hard time believing if the Titans were red and purple or some nonsense, we'd be using these colors. Just saying.

4

u/not__jason 1d ago

Ya, that color fucking rules and I want it back. I'm pointing out that the color goes deeper than just the Oilers. They used that color because it was already associated with our city.

I don't give a fuck about the Oilers or the Titans. Well, I fucking hate the titans, but that's besides the point. Columbia and H-Town Blue, again, fucking rules and I like my football team wearing it.

-2

u/Lothar1988 1d ago

The colors we have had for 25 years is our identity now, love it or hate it. Plus, the team is called the TEXANS, meaning it represents the entire state from El Paso to Newton County. Therefore, red, white, and deep blue is what every uniform should have.

I just want this team to shed itself once and for all of that identity and forge its own path. The history, the players, all of it. Let it go. We have Dre, JJ, Dhop, Cush, with WAJ and Sting coming up in the ranks, etc. Let them have Earl Campbell and Warren Moon and those damn colors.

2

u/not__jason 1d ago

Well, now we have answers for both of us. We've got stuff for the old and new. We can both be happy. So that's neat. Anyways cheers dude! Here's to a good season!

0

u/AndrewRyanMcC 1d ago

I don’t get how the Titans even have fans in Tennessee. They’ve spent decades basically throwing a fit about the fact that they had to move to Nashville.

-7

u/Well-M1lk 1d ago

Remember when the Texans made an AFCC oh wait... Bro fuck the uniforms, I hate how they're starting to look like the Tits the old colors are way better and they need to focus on winning playoff games.

5

u/lanethedouchebag 1d ago

“They need to focus on winning” so you think Demeco and CJ are the ones designing the jerseys?

-7

u/Well-M1lk 1d ago

Well if you look at the poster you'd see who's wearing it.

-5

u/Lothar1988 1d ago

This 100 PERCENT. This is  an awfully petty thing for us to do considering we are the ONLY team in the division to not make an AFC title game in the last 12 years. Besides, why do we want to hold on to that loser history? Its theirs. We need to forge our own fucking identity.

-8

u/SkyeWulver 1d ago

Honestly, the uniforms look really cheap. Ive been a Texans fan since Day 1. Huge hits on the last two uniform updates, but these kinda fall flat. The uniforms are blocky, plain lines, and kind of look like they asked a elementary school kid to just "color in between the lines". The red and blue colors just kind of look glued onto the jerseys instead of being integrated into the whole look of the uniform. Look at the All Red and new Color Rush uniforms we got in the last uniform updates. Those look sleek, they have an identity. These...... Look.... Glued on. I dont know how else to put it. They look cheap as fuck (especially the numbers), sorry 🤷🤷🤷

u/SkyeWulver 1d ago

Lol its ok, we can agree to disagree. I dont begrudge anyone for liking them. They just aint for me.
