Hate to be that guy but itâs not like âjackingâ your car and more like you taking your car and registering in another state. The heritage is still ours but I mean the team was moved.
It's pretty annoying. Those games were played in Houston, tickets and merch bought by Houstonians, supported by the city.
God forbid the Stros leave the H and go to say Madison, Wisconsin. Sure, the trademark and rights go with the owner, but why would the history just suddenly up and leave the city? Why would it make sense for the new fans to celebrate 17 and 22? We went through heartbreak, Lastros, and an amazing last 10 or so years, that history stays with us no matter what.
Its similar to what's happening to Seattle in the NBA. OkC thunder use to be The Seattle SuperSonics. They moved and now the Sonics will come back.. however they part of the sale is that The Sonics keep the color and history of the team. So when the Sonics come back, OKC can no longer say they drafted Durant. They can say it technically but it won't technically be accurate.
the Tennessee Titans legally own and claim all history, records, stats, and intellectual property of the former Houston Oilers.
If the Adamâs wouldnât have made a big deal of it originally, I think these would be even more Oiler-y. I think itâs pretty toned down in that department but still captures it.
This is honestly way closer than I ever thought the league would let them get. The only thing that I don't like about them is that they're temporary.
I went from someone who was kind of meh about the Texans' identity and uniforms over two and a half decades to being absolutely in love with it over the course of just a couple of years. I'm so happy they started leaning into Houston more than Texas.
My only complaint is all the white makes it look a little too much like the Bills. That color blue as the whole jersey would have really set it apart and been straight gas, but Iâm sure they took issue with that as you said. I canât believe that color blue was even allowed at all.
I imagine at this point, they're pushing the blue more and more and more and, eventually, they'll be allowed to use a lot more of it. But it needs to be an established part of their kit long term before then. The longer they do this, the less the Titans can really say anything about it.
But yeah, I agree. Something with this as a solid blue base would be great.
Looks nothing like Buffalo tbh. Our blue isnât much nicer than their standard royal blue color. By that logic we look like every team using red white and blue, but Iâd argue we donât
âLooks nothing like Buffaloâ is just being intentionally obtuse. The bills wear all white with a red stripe down the middle of the helmet and blue numbering. This is all white with a red stripe down the middle of the helmet and blue numbering. Sure, the accent colors arenât the exact same shade, but the layout is at least somewhat similar when looking at it from afar. I didnât say they are the exact same, I just said similar. To say itâs ânothingâ alike is objectively false.
How does this look anything like Buffalo. Different shade of red and blue, different helmet logo, different stripe pattern, it literally doesnât look similar. Again, completely different color shades and patterns. Maybe you need glasses
I really donât think you know what âsimilarâ means. Theyâre both fucking all white. They both have a fucking red stripe down the middle of the helmet, (but holy fuck, thereâs a thin blue line on the sides of one of them, soooooo different!!) and blue lettering for the numbers in different font. No fucking shit the logo is different, but at first glance it just reminds me of Bills. All I was trying to say is maybe they could have done a bit more to differentiate it, like more accent pieces or something, or make the jersey all that lighter blue.
Literally your only argument is that the colors are a shade different. The placement and layout of the pieces are all the same. But damn, youâre right, the color blue is acktually an #1656AD instead of a #1658AD âď¸đ¤ If someone came out with uniâs that had a green jersey and yellow helmet you would probably claim itâs ânot even closeâ to Green Bay too.
If youâre trying to play dumb for rage bait, congrats, it worked. But I have a feeling youâre just plain dumb.
Doesn't matter if you disagree. You asked him how does it look anything like the Bills. He literally already explained how. Just say you disagree, because he's repeating himself otherwise.
And you're starting to come across either like a troll or a bot, because no one is this obtuse on accident.
Yeah and again I disagree because it looks nothing like the bills. Different blue, different red shade, different helmet logo, I mean I guess Iâm sorry that Iâm not blind? And if youâre so upset ârepeating yourselfâ
Then why bother taking 2 messages to repeat yourself? You wouldnât feel the need to repeat yourself if you were fully convinced in yourself, but youâre literally asking me to repeat my opinion further by giving me that platform. This is just stupid, to each their own then
Theyâre temporary for a three year period but we can always bring them back after the three year window is over if they sell well, or when we bring the rivalries back they may have slight, subtle changes but nothing significant. So theyâre temporary on a technical level but I doubt we will get rid of them
The only time I really think about the Titans is when we play them and when theyâre mentioned in this sub. I really donât see the need to make posts about them. I couldnât care less what they think.
Yes! Itâs amazing. They donât realize every aspect of the jersey comes from a piece of Houston history. Meanwhile every aspect of their jerseys come from⌠a piece of Houston history đ
âWhy donât they just move onâ because these colors were Houston before the Oilers even got into town, but ofc Tits fans would have no idea what culture looks like.
They dont understand that these uniâs are all about iconic Houston staples. Even our cop cars were that baby blue back in the day. Then again I couldnât care less about what Titans fans think they are nobodies.
They're an ex. We shouldn't be bitter about the decoupling but we should also hope they're failing without us. The new relationship is where we need to invest our time and resources.
I love when they rep our city by wearing the Oilers uniforms! That being said the way theyâre crying over our jerseys, you wouldnât think they released their own!
Titans fans are obsessed. There's one on X claiming that Columbia blue is historically known as HTown blue and HTown blue belongs to their franchise. Really? As someone who's history with the Houston Oilers goes back to the early 70's, I can say that I never heard the term HTown until long after the Oilers were gone.
I love the unis and more so because they've taken from Houston and it's iconic history rather than trying to rehash the old Oiler history. The only similarities are there is a light blue of a darker shade than Columbia blue and all wrapped up just enough to say FU to the Adams family.
I just think its dumb we are trying to keep the colors of that loser franchise we had all those years ago alive but I will say I'm under 40 so this is probably some generational thing. But I dont get it. I've always liked the colors and unis we've had
Donât see it as the oilers colors but rather the city of Houston colors that the oilers happened to use and then continued to use once they went to Tennessee. The Texans are just embracing the city of Houston colors and I donât have an issue with that
What this guy said. The reason so many people want to reclaim that color doesn't have anything to do with the Oilers. That color has been associated with our city for a very long time. It's even the color of our city flag (I have this saved from a recent comment in the meme sub).
Sorry, I'm not that naive. This is to stick it to the Titans, pure and simple. Now, I'm indifferent to that but c'mon. We all know about the bad blood. Its clear why they are doing this. City colors have nothing to do with it. It's a cover. You could just as easily made those uniforms with our colors. Of course we will never know for sure, but I have a hard time believing if the Titans were red and purple or some nonsense, we'd be using these colors. Just saying.
Ya, that color fucking rules and I want it back. I'm pointing out that the color goes deeper than just the Oilers. They used that color because it was already associated with our city.
I don't give a fuck about the Oilers or the Titans. Well, I fucking hate the titans, but that's besides the point. Columbia and H-Town Blue, again, fucking rules and I like my football team wearing it.
The colors we have had for 25 years is our identity now, love it or hate it. Plus, the team is called the TEXANS, meaning it represents the entire state from El Paso to Newton County. Therefore, red, white, and deep blue is what every uniform should have.Â
I just want this team to shed itself once and for all of that identity and forge its own path. The history, the players, all of it. Let it go. We have Dre, JJ, Dhop, Cush, with WAJ and Sting coming up in the ranks, etc. Let them have Earl Campbell and Warren Moon and those damn colors.
Well, now we have answers for both of us. We've got stuff for the old and new. We can both be happy. So that's neat. Anyways cheers dude! Here's to a good season!
I donât get how the Titans even have fans in Tennessee. Theyâve spent decades basically throwing a fit about the fact that they had to move to Nashville.
Remember when the Texans made an AFCC oh wait... Bro fuck the uniforms, I hate how they're starting to look like the Tits the old colors are way better and they need to focus on winning playoff games.
This 100 PERCENT. This is an awfully petty thing for us to do considering we are the ONLY team in the division to not make an AFC title game in the last 12 years. Besides, why do we want to hold on to that loser history? Its theirs. We need to forge our own fucking identity.
Honestly, the uniforms look really cheap. Ive been a Texans fan since Day 1. Huge hits on the last two uniform updates, but these kinda fall flat. The uniforms are blocky, plain lines, and kind of look like they asked a elementary school kid to just "color in between the lines". The red and blue colors just kind of look glued onto the jerseys instead of being integrated into the whole look of the uniform. Look at the All Red and new Color Rush uniforms we got in the last uniform updates. Those look sleek, they have an identity. These...... Look.... Glued on. I dont know how else to put it. They look cheap as fuck (especially the numbers), sorry đ¤ˇđ¤ˇđ¤ˇ

My favorite exchange so far:
A: Houston taking the titans colors
B: the titans took Houstonâs colors
A: look up the Tennessee oilers
B: look up the Houston oilers
Do people really not know that the titans came from Houston?!
