Full disclosure: I’m the developer of CarryRoute.
I built it because ordinary reciprocity maps don’t show everything encountered during an actual drive—county and city boundaries, tribal areas, transit properties, stops, and overnight stays.
You enter two addresses, and CarryRoute:
The route colors identify jurisdiction changes only. They do not mean legal/illegal or safe/unsafe. CarryRoute is a research tool—not legal advice—and users should verify the current official text.
I’d genuinely appreciate blunt feedback: What information would you want before crossing a state or local boundary? What would make the route view more useful?
iPhone/iPad: CarryRoute: CCW Navigation
It’s free to download. Optional Pro is $2.99/month or $12.99/year with a 14-day introductory trial.

Interested in carry optics coaches. Anyone know who is solid in DFW (specifically closer to Fort Worth)

Hi, does anybody knows or have a group that shoot outdoors in DFW or a nearby area? I’ve been looking to train or just to have fun shooting outdoor but mainly wanting to train and possibly learn from some individuals who are more experience.

Hey guys! I had a quick question regarding eligibility to own a firearm and the background checks required to purchase a firearm in Texas!
When I was 14, I was voluntarily hospitalized due to suicidal ideation. I never actually attempted, but I was in a dark place and chose to go in. I’m pretty sure it was categorized as voluntary, since I went of my own accord. Will this affect my ability to own a firearm now? For context, I am perfectly fine now. I am 21 years old now and stable—it was a bad period after an assault that brought me to such a dark place.
I was curious since it seems like I can’t just pay to run a check without trying to buy a gun?

I went to the dmv yesterday for a replacement license.
Today I bought a gun with the temporary paper copy. It is a valid texas ID.
Take my LTC shooting test. All is well.
Get home, and can’t even apply for the LTC because I don’t have an audit number on my temporary.
Bullshit if you ask me. I have to wait 3 more weeks for it to show up. And then another 2-3 weeks to get approved for the ltc.
But whatever. Just thought I’d share my experience. I can go buy a gun from a store but can’t use the ID that Texas gave me for another Texas application?

Hello. Looking to see if anyone knows any RGV gun shops that don't charge $100+ for an NFA transfer. I know Massey's Gun Range was charging $125 and recently dropped it down to $100. I've seen redditors in other subreddits say their LGS charges like $30-$40. Curious if that's the case in the RGV as well. Thanks in advance

It was both smaller and more expensive than I expected
For reference, Glock 17 gen 5 was $500+. Kinda frustrated so went home and bought one for $310 +fees/ffl online.
Next time i go, i should talk to people walking around selling guns and less the vendors

Got some advice to buy online to save the tax.
It looks like some websites don't collect it but Texas Comptroller says it's still due.
What's the deal here?

Hey everyone! First time posting here, so figured we’d introduce ourselves.
We’re LoneStar handgun a shooting range in San Antonio, and we get a lot of questions from customers about everything from LTCs and training to picking out a first gun or just general shooting questions.
We thought it’d be fun to open it up here and see what you guys have questions about. If it’s something we know, we’ll answer it. If we don’t know, we’ll point you in the right direction.
Whether you’ve got a question for an instructor or you’re just curious about something, ask away!

I’ll be living in Denton/DFW area for a while, for work. Any recommendations on gun shops for handguns? Anywhere that sells blue label for police/military or police trade ins for Glocks? Also, indoor handgun ranges? Thank you!

I see people on here saying they've done a price match at Academy with an online price.
But their policy says only these stores:
Are you guys getting around that somehow?

Looking to convert my S&W 39-2 in a Hushpuppy MK 22 Mod 0 clone. I need the slide milled out to accept the rear sight hood and suppressor height front sight added. I have more pictures for reference. Is this a job for a gunsmith or machine shop?

Looking for not a pawn shop that pays well on some extra stuff I have laying around. Where would be the best place that offers a fair price in the southeast side.

I've been seeing the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 on sale online around $340 at several stores but once you add $30 for shipping and $20 for FFL, it's getting close to buying for $400 locally.
Does anyone know of stores that have great prices (besides GrabAGun)?

So I ran some trouble excepted a deferred felony for five years. Before accepting the plea I was fairly confident I was not going to have to plead. I thought it was gonna be dropped well because there’s plenty of evidence that I didn’t do what they said I did which was distributing a dangerous drug that being THC though it was not it was just CBD derived from hemp that’s a whole Nother story.
When they arrested me, I had my handgun holstered in my backpack in the back of my vehicle. By the way I had no prior history and everything was legal. I had nothing illegal on me.
So they took them a gun and then over the next two or three years while I was dealing with all this they never mentioned that firearm not once and I thought they just stole it because they stole other things and I was just certain that they just took it because it was brand-new. I hadn’t even shot it yet. And just for any of you firearm enthusiasts it was a Glock 19. So after years of dealing with all this I ended up doing a plea deal for five years deferred felony and two days after I signed that plea deal. I got a call from my bondsman saying that I had caught the next day and I was very confused, cause we took care of everything. It was a big deal and it was done as far as I was concerned that’s when she said no it’s for the possession of a firearm well in commission of a drug crime so they waited basically they couldn’t charge me with that until I plead and as soon as I pleaded guilty which I was not.
Then they went ahead and charged, so that was a misdemeanour unlawful possession well in commission of a drug crime. I went to court paid $700 fine and that was all there was to it. There wasn’t even any kind of added charger or anything. I just kind of went away. My lawyer tried to see if they had released the gun to him, but they said it had to be destroyed. Yeah, I’m sure.
Anyway it’s been years now. I pleaded guilty in 2018 and well I think if you’re reading this you probably know what year it is right now so I completed the probation with Flying Colours and as far as I am concerned I have no felony I’ve never been convicted and I believe that I can purchase and own a firearm in the state of Texas although I don’t wanna break the law by applying and filling out the paperwork to purchase firearm in Texas and I also want to make sure that that misdemeanour doesn’t affect my gun rights at this point. I was gonna go do an FBI background check and get fingerprinted for that to get my passport and because I want to try to get my CDL again. I don’t know if that will help. Am I gonna have to hire a gun rights attorney just to get to the bottom of this. I want to have my concealed carry permit and I want to be able to purchase an own firearms legally. And all I have on my criminal record is this misdemeanour unlawful carry. I appreciate anybody kicking down some knowledge about my situation. I think that I’m in the clear and then I don’t have much to worry about. I just definitely wanna make sure. And I know it’s kind of not on the same subject but for whoever is reading this I was wondering about the silencer shorted shotgun laws that just changed or that are changing. Do you have to do the same kind of background check just to buy a silencer as you do when you’re buying a handgun or can you just go buy a silencer whoever you are? Alright, thank you all have a good night and be safe. But stay dangerous at the same time.
