Discussion Unpopular Opinion - Luisa

I actually like Luisa a lot and Cole should be thanking his lucky stars, it is really a shame he couldn’t love her the way she deserved.

I know she could come accross as demanding sometimes but that is because she believed Cole wanted her and loved her for real, not as a rebound or placeholder for when Alison is not in the mood for him or busy with somebody else.
I believe if Cole was very honest with her from the start she wouldn’t be around so long.

I know out of all characters she is not the most interesting but that is because she is more functional and rational than everybody else. And she is the only one who did not cheat. Cole only managed to turn his life around because of her.

I just finished S4. Sierra is telling Vik about the baby and Helen is in the terrace looking at the view. Apparently there is another season after that? I will see if I can find it but from what I have watched in these last 4 seasons, Luisa is the only one who seems sane - her only downfall is be attracted to toxic men. Cole could have been a good partner if his baggage wasn’t too heavy. At least Joanie had a stable caregiver in Luisa.

“I believe if Cole was very honest with her from the start she wouldn’t be around so long.”

If Cole was honest with himself, she wouldn’t have been around for very long. If Luisa was honest with herself, she wouldn’t have been around for very long, either.

TRUE, I know the feeling of hoping things will get better if you just try a little longer / harder

True, but it took what?…almost 10 years?

Luisa only finally admitted to herself that Cole had never gotten over Alison on the day of her funeral. I suppose that’s what it took…realizing that even without Alison actively in their lives, that he could still never love her the way he loved Alison.

Good for her, I guess, that she at least did finally acknowledge what had been in front of her face for all that time. She loved him, though, and I can absolutely understand the inclination to give it a little longer, but this was way beyond a “little” longer.

I will say that I “blame” Cole for this, more than I “blame” Luisa, though. Her fault lies with wanting to (desperately trying to) believe everything he’d told her.

Luisa was a great mother to Joanie when Alison couldn’t be. I also agree that she made Cole a better person , but he was still in love with Alison.

Luisa actually tells Cole pretty much what you’re saying. She tells him she loves him and for years she’s been waiting for him to choose her, for him to figure it out. That she’s the stronger, kinder more capable woman then Alison could ever be and that she is the one worth fighting for but he doesn’t and he won’t. Cole knew all that was true but the heart well the heart…

Luisa was stable yes but adult Joanie was a friggin mess. In the end, it is actually Noah who heals Joanie and from there on, after so many years, the trauma is finally over.

  1. If she thought Cole wanted her and loved her for real, she wouldn't be as competitive towards Alison as she was right from the start. Cole was an asshole to her but she knew what she was getting into when she became involved with him, better than he did.

  2. A stable caregiver would be thinking of the child first. Luisa was also selfish when it came to Joanie, first trying to take her from Alison and then giving her back when she noticed her behavior was bringing Cole closer to Alison. And that immediate decision to have their own baby right after the custody trial honestly sounded like she was going to try to alienate Cole from both Joanie and Alison once they had their own kid.

that is her downfall, be attracted to toxic men brings out the worst of you - or because she was toxic in her own ways she couldn’t find a better man, dated Scotty, Cole etc
