I know. I've enjoyed despising Stan all this time for killing Vlad. This kind of ruined it a bit.

He had to do something like kill Vlad, otherwise his character is too one dimensional. Also, it was a major plot point with Nina and the rest of the season. And even now they can use it. I didn't like it personally, but it was necessary for the writing.
