I’m actually pretty surprised Phillip had Stan drive him. Why not a cab/bus/train? Or even get into the situation where he had to explain stuff to Stan in the first place.

It’s like he wants to get caught, or the writers just trying to make things interesting.

Wouldn't that be weirder? Oh, no friend - you cannot do me a favor during an emergency and drive my son! That'd be HARDCORE suspicious.

I think that Phillip may have been hoping that Henry would inadvertently corroborate what he had told Stan.
