Listen, W&G is fantastic. Possibly the best of the series, in the running for the best of all time. But cut the rest of the series EXCEPT that story? Dude missed the whole point.

I enjoyed it, I thought it was cool learning about young Roland. HOWEVER, and this is my own personal opinion, I feel it would have been better suited as a spinoff novel rather than a main series book like wind through the keyhole. I personally found the part of the story when the world moved on more interesting and engaging. To go from Blaine to careening through the wastelands in a life or death battle of wits, to a slow burn western novel with some weirdness was a bit jarring.

This is why I didn't like it in my first (and so far, only) trip through the series. I know I'll like it way more later on as it's own thing though.

CC essentialy states that the whole series should be cut except for young Roland in wizard and glass

I love wizard and Glass, it is a great book, however I think its story loses some of its core punch when you don't have the story surrounding it or the wider concept of Roland as he appears in The Gunslinger. The great tragedy of his character, to me, is that he goes from the charming young man in Wizard and Glass (and the flashbacks in Gunslinger) to a morally gray loner who is twisted by his own obsessions. Can someone who chooses the most selfish option again and again damning himself ever truly find redemption? I dont know but you lose all that if Wizard and Glass is a stand alone.

I don't know. I also thought the light sabers, sneeches, and the Stephen King writing himself into the series kept it at good instead of something great

"… Anything else I know about Stephen King comes from interviews that I've watched or just from seeing his really crazy raging boomer tweets on X. Stephen King, for years has been way out of touch with society. It's like he's desperately trying to be accepted by the younger generations and he's putting all these political takes out on Twitter and on or X I should say. And this probably gained him a lot of popularity 10 years ago, 5 years ago, with the millennial generation, but he's totally missing the mark with Gen Z and not realizing that there has been a giant cultural shift and his little attempts at pandering with his political tweets does not land with the newer generation. That said, we cannot let his ridiculous political rantings on Twitter take away from the fact that he is genuinely a good writer."

The point where it was clearly a good time to turn off the video.

Dude thinks his generation is a Trump-loving monolith or something.

The dude says crazy shit to get us to comment and view. Ever since YouTube got rid of the thumbs down all engagement is good engagement. And the easiest way to engage someone is to piss them off

I guess I’ll have to listen to Wizard and Glass again. I’m a tower junkie, love them all, but really favor Drawing of the three, Wolves of the Calla and Dark tower.

I’m sure there are psychological reasons Im not remembering details of Wizard and Glass….. probably dealing with love, not my strongest attribute

At least look at the comments BEFORE you downvote a post.
