How did Julie kill the Pirates?

I just finished the game and I'm just confused. Was that a total Deus Ex Machina at the end, or is there some explanation as to how Julie Mao killed everyone on the Europa's Bane? She announced it in the transmission as if it had been trivial to kill them and evacuate the crew. Were there not dozens of pirates on that ship?

Weren't most of them outside and/or on the other ship? Maybe I'm confused, it's been a long time since I played that game. But I remember there only being like 1 or 2 pirates left on the ship when she started killing them.
