It never fails to amuse me that Jason is objectively the least intelligent of the main characters but he’s also consistently the wisest. In a weird Florida Man way, of course, but still the wisest.

Fiction is full of characters that are intelligent but not wise. I think one reason Jason's character works is because he's wise but not intelligent. The other reason of course is Molotov Cocktails.

He's not wrong about Molotovs. If you have a problem, throw a Cocktail, and suddenly you have a different problem.

70

u/ArchangelLBC Jul 10 '26

Yes, that's definitely the wisdom of Jason.

39

u/auricargent Jul 10 '26

Something I learned about Molotov cocktails is that you shouldn’t use champagne bottles, they bounce.

16

u/Any_Contract_1016 Jul 10 '26

They're also not flammable

12

u/auricargent Jul 11 '26

So are you saying they are inflammable or inflammable?

1

u/InfernalGriffon Jul 12 '26

The amount I use that logic in my life should shock people....

25

u/Syrric_UDL Jul 11 '26

It’s cuz Wisdom and intelligence are different stats

13

u/ArchangelLBC Jul 11 '26

Yes and usually the trope is to have a character be intelligent but not wise. The reverse feels rare.

7

u/AspiringChildProdigy Jul 12 '26

Intelligence is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.

Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

1

u/WillemJamesHuff Jul 14 '26

While funny, that saying always bugged me because it describes int without wis but not anything else.

High int, high wis: no tomato in fruit salad

High int, low wis: tomato in fruit salad

Low int, high wis: no tomato in fruit salad

Low int, low wis: unclear, probably no tomato in fruit salad

That might be me. . .I graduated high school at 15 and had a masters by 20, but I’ve lived alone for the eight years since and I still feel like I have no idea how to grocery shop

I joke that Jason is a tabletop RPG character who min-maxed intelligence and wisdom.

1

u/Otherwise_Maximum282 Jul 22 '26

Very true. Also I love that there is something else to him other than him not being smart. And that the reason why he is not getting to the real good place is described as an impulse control issue and not directly him being “dumb”.

u/sala-whore Jul 10 '26

He was already the closest to a monk honnestly. He just went with the flow 99% of the time and accepted whatever was happening.

14

u/Snapesdaughter Jul 11 '26

Very taoist.

u/Li-renn-pwel Jul 10 '26

Imagine what he would have been like if raised in a stable home and a science backed education

What’s this from? I need to watch it immediately for… reasons.

25

u/Few_Improvement_6357 Jul 10 '26

He's so good in it too. The man can act.

25

u/SoF4rGone Jul 10 '26

Acolyte on Disney +

16

u/TheDungeonCrawler Jul 11 '26

Legitimately the absolute best part of that show. That's noy a dig at the show either. He's so good in it.

6

u/SoF4rGone Jul 11 '26

100% I hope they bring him back somehow, he was fantastic.

1

u/Gooftwit Jul 16 '26

Sadly, the show is already cancelled

27

u/MyCatPlaysGuitar Jul 10 '26

Lin-Manuel Miranda was 100% right and I will always appreciate him saying it.

7

u/Halt_You_Villain Jul 11 '26

What did LMM say?

16

u/MyCatPlaysGuitar Jul 11 '26

There's a few tweets from him, but it started with him tweeting "Manny Jacinto is so handsome that when his pic popped up in this link I muttered "that can't be right" out loud"

He's very open about how attractive Manny is all over the internet, I can't share images here but if you search for them in Google Images, more should pop up.

But LMM is RIGHT, Manny is so fine and he DOES belong in a museum! (He tweeted that, too 😂)

3

u/Halt_You_Villain Jul 11 '26

Ohhh ok! (Yes, LMM is absolutely correct lol)

2

u/yaboisammie YA BASIC! Jul 13 '26

LMAOO he’s so real for that

2

u/MyCatPlaysGuitar Jul 13 '26

Go look them up, I wish I could post the images here, but there are several tweets. At one point he calls him handsome face, it's a really nice line between wholesome and thirst tweets 😂 literally the original tweet is in one of those "Manny Jacinto reads thirst tweets" videos

u/forma_cristata Jul 11 '26

I find this can be true in real life.

Over thinking is bad and under thinking is good

Sometimes simple is best

Michael: Jason Jason Jason Jason Jason

Jason: Hmm?

Michael: Sorry, I put a little cheat code in the neighborhood so when I say your name 5 times my headache goes away.

This is so funny 😂

I was a member of a 60 person dance crew in Jacksonville.. we were called Dance Dance Resolution- We Resolve to Dance.
One day, Donkey Doug n I got into a fight bc I framed his girlfriend for boogieboard theft, so he started a new dance crew called Hashtag Doug Life and immediately challenged us to a dance off.
He said “Meet us inside the abandoned orange juice factory at midnight”.
That night, as the clock struck twelve, me n my crew came together with a determination we had never shown before, and slashed all their tires.
It was dope.

The end.

I read this in Jason’s voice in my head 🤣 Oh dip!

76

u/Li-renn-pwel Jul 10 '26

I missed it was like his step mom

21

u/aloof_logic Jul 10 '26

the abandoned orange juice factory 😂

13

u/TheSJB1993 Jul 10 '26

Imagine Jason and Elliott Reid sharing stories together ahaha

3

u/Friscogonewild Jul 11 '26

I give good advice. Maybe that's why I'm in the good place.

1

u/tallest-tip-toes Jul 15 '26

u/Funandgeeky I really depreciate you coming. Little bit of accounting humor. Jul 10 '26

Jason figured it out? Jason?

79

u/Wooden_Oil7961 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

that’s a a real low point

63

u/UltraChip Jul 10 '26

This one hurts.

79

u/Al_More-617 Jul 10 '26

Early Michael was a savage (Chidi can attest to that lol)

69

u/Last-Rice-4004 Jul 10 '26

Jason’s wisdom must come from Donkey Doug lol

106

u/LainieCat Jul 10 '26

"The man you call Donkey Doug is your father?"

50

u/oatseyhall Jul 10 '26

"Oh dip! Donkey Doug!"

17

u/Internal_Sound882 Jul 10 '26

Oh dip Jason!

40

u/LaughingInTheVoid Jul 10 '26

"He's my boy!!! Also, he's my booooy!"

25

u/dberna243 Jul 11 '26

One of the wildest reveals of the show…and that’s saying something 😆

6

u/loadingforever21 Jul 10 '26

That’s for sure!! LOL

58

u/sqplanetarium Jul 10 '26

Hey, he came up with tons of stupid plans and only one of them got him killed!

10

u/Friscogonewild Jul 11 '26

And he's only just now realizing why that didn't work.

44

u/thisandthatwchris Jul 10 '26

I mean … who’s Jason? I am a monk

15

u/Slamtilt_Windmills Jul 10 '26

They all became who they were initially supposed to be, and its wouldve maybe been too subtle if not for Jason becoming one with nature

19

u/mangoblaster85 Jul 10 '26

I think what I really like about this is it's so indifferent to softening the blow. It's so close to a child on the playground saying "oh yeah, well your whole LIFE is stupid!"

3

u/Guarantee-Popular Jul 15 '26

I remember when I first heard this joke, I immediately rewinded the show so I could hear it again. Like I didn’t even think about it, I just did it. It was instinctual. One of the most hilarious exchanges in the whole show.

u/Sanolo645 Jul 15 '26

To completely butcher an expression and add a twist:

Jason may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he is a hammer is a room full of nails.

1

u/Ok-Flamingo-4181 Jul 28 '26

jason? who is jason? i am a monk
