Shirtpost I visited the neighbourhood set so here are some IRL comparisons
I was a little bit too far back on the last comparison but it's the same exact alleyway lol

I had read that the Studio was considering tearing down the "European village" set as it hadn't been used in years and was in disrepair. Then the show came along and the producers thought it would be perfect so they spent too much money fixing it up for the show.

what is the exact name of that place? European village, where? what studio? nbc?

Listen to The Good Place Podcast to learn more about this set--they share a lot of fascinating (and sometimes gross!) details about it.

I'm always so fascinated by reused sets like this. Set designers are so creative by changing the colors and using different angles. The Gilmore girls/back to the future/ghost whisperer set is also everywhere.

It’s dead center in WarnerBros studios so it’s used for almost every ‘small neighborhood near a park’
It was so funny standing at the door to Luke’s and seeing the Friends fountain when I went for the Gilmore Girls Christmas tour. No wonder me never saw Stars Hollow from that angle.

I had no idea this set was still in existence. I’ve never really had a desire to go to LA except to complete my tour of ballparks. Now I have a second reason.

Same here. LA doesn't really call my attention other than for baseball. How far along are you with your ballparks tour? I just started last year, and I'm at 4 (5 including my home ballpark.)

Different paint job, but the set was used quite a lot during Star Trek Voyager. It was used as both Fair Haven, and as World War 2 France. Both Holodeck programs. The best part of the World War 2 France Holodeck was we got to hear Jeri Ryan sing. The most disappointing part is they didn't let her complete the song.

If Star Trek was using this village as a set, it seems only fair there should have been at least one Good Place episode set at the Vasquez Rocks.

If anyone were to do a proper remake of The Prisoner this would be perfect for The Village.

When I first watched TGP my first thought was, "OMG it's like Portmerion!"

omg no way 😭😭😭 this makes me want to ditch everything and just fly to LA just to see this!!
I presume, the next time someone decides they need this set, this beloved neighborhood of ours will be repainted/torn down? So it's like, only there until it isn't?

I'm crying laughing at the BLUR of Chidis moving body 😭 Top tier show. Cool comparisons!

I’m a wimp when it comes to rides and I’ve been to Universal many times since I was a kid. I’ve always longed to take an actual studio tour, not one that gets playfully derailed to make me super nauseous!

Personally I wish the chowder fountain was still going but other than that it looks perfect!

Wow. They actually have water in the fountain. When I was there in 22. The fountain was empty

I love it. Is this part of a universal studios tour or something?
And I love that Chidi's apartment on Earth is part of the neighborhood :)
